This pulley series are great! The Blackwater t-shirt is a plus in terms of reliability!! I am sorry for the laws that make you repeat yourself on safety issues.

      Thanks much! I appreciate that!
The Blackwater T-shirt came from Blackwater when I was there for Handgun I and Handgun II - great fun and course.
Because of problems, Blackwater changed it's name to Academia - same people same facilities, same great classes!.
Oh, and the "repeat" thing is not just a legal thing, but I want to emphasize and then remind, that learning these techniques does not make one a rescue person.

Just to clarify... this segment was on rescue techniques and pulley systems for rescuing?

No, it isn't about rescue techniques. It's only about mechanical advantage and pulley systems. These techniques could be used for rescue given proper training in rescue and rescue uses of pulley systems. There's a lot more to rescue than just knowing rope and pulley techniques.

I thought I felt some tugging on one of my legs :). That's actually the way it struck me and I wound up with a big grin on my face.
But I do have to be cautious; some might not realize it was refreshing humor and get the idea that if they understand the principles in the video, then they're qualified to use it for rescue.

+Tanglerwr I enjoyed the entire series.

It's a double edged sword; the same law that can be used to unscrupulously extract money from those that do it right, protects persons from those that won't do it right. I agree though, law suits have gotten out of hand. Law suits have become a means of making money instead serving justice.
Also, I'm not rescue certified, so can't present information as 'rescue ready', but I can present pulley theory..
    But thanks for your comments.

liking the series. just not sure why you mentioned what a rescue scenario would do with prusiks after repeatedly saying this is in no way a rescue "course" or video.

A couple of reasons: one, to give an example of who and where these techniques might be used by TRAINED QUALIFIED PERSONEL.
However, I don't want anyone to think that because they understand the rope and pulley techniques, they are qualified to use them for the application.

I agree, spending four minutes or so, saying that you are not teaching this for rescue operations and so on, defeats the purpose of this video of explaining mechanical advantage. Just put a disclaimer on the video or just say it once and that should cover you. Thanks for taking the time to explain this to us. We do appreciate your effort and time.

It's crazy how someone that is specialized and so educated in this field, must constantly repeat that he is not responsible for blah blah blah. It's absolutely insane that we have allowed society to undermine it's own participants (citizens) and produce so much political correctness, that even the most successful people can be taken out of context by some moron, and end up being sued, possibly costing upwards of millions of dollars.

Really excessive repetition. Really excessive repetition. Really excessive repetition. Really excessive repetition. Really excessive repetition.

Thank you for saving me the trouble of REPEATING it. I needed rescuing form the endless repetition! Thumbs up to the video, otherwise.

I can only imaging how many people have complained about his DEMONSTRATIONS of pulley systems claiming they are unsafe for this or that application when he never claimed that his DEMONSTRATION was about any one specific application. Morons tend to be single minded and if what he is DEMONSTRATING doesn't match the one way they learned to use pulley systems they act like morons.

If you had really thought of the inherent dangers in the type of work done using pulley systems, then you might refrain from mocking the content. Safety should always be the number one priority and not taken lightly. Tanglerwr is only stressing the importance of proper training when applying his principals.
