  • Game of Thrones fans have still not come to terms with the fate that befell Daenerys Targaryen. The Mother of Dragons joined the list of characters that were shockingly and surprisingly killed on the hit series.
Even though the show had a knack for killing off popular characters, this one may have crossed the line for some of the series' most hardcore fans.
But for those of you who have gotten past the shocking ending and instead want to know what Drogon, the last of Daenerys's dragons, did with his mother’s body, the GoT showrunners have recently provided details about that. Let's take a look.

they didn't realize at the time how neglecting Game of Thrones's ending would bite them in the butt . Being fans of the books themselves i'm surprised they did that . They should have made season 6 the ending . it would have been a great ending . granted season 6 was not the greatest season ,writing wise BUT the last two episodes ( "battle of the bastards"and "winds of winter") were very good episodes and knowing that none of that was in the books , D&D could have finished the series with applauses and praises ( instead of resentment and disappointment ) for their story telling . of course Disney , once again is involved in the downfall of a another franchise .

But Valyria would not be kind to Drogon. Just read about Balerion the Black Dread and Aerea Targaryen and what happened to them to understand. There is a reason Valyria is forbidden to sailors to go to.

@@bruhimtoofunny3811 Have you ever experienced true grief? When my father died, it was as if he was taken from me and I was not myself for weeks, months, even a couple years. He was suddenly gone without little warning.
Part of that process is just disregarding other people entirely because you can't even seem to function on any type of norm. Everyone reacts a little different to grief. You're numb to everyone and could care less about anything.
You can't compare her to other characters because she is the only one who walks her path of being a hunted after Targaryen and a dragon rider. No one else can relate to her at all. Jon rode Rhaegal like what, once or twice? He doesn't understand dragons. She does. She's fully bonded with them. And there's only a handful of characters who didn't completely wrong countless others in this series. The only leadership type character that was a higher caliber than her was Ned Stark. Everyone else was so much more vicious and willing to cut off anyone's head than her.
Put something like a dragon in the possession of a character, and then take something from them they hold dear. And who took that from her? Another character just to be spiteful and nasty. Can't say I blame Dany honestly. She's done the hard route of liberating cities several times in Essos. She's done. That was the last straw.

All we need to know is that Drogon was last seen flying East. Essos is east. The Red Priests and Priestesses, Kinvara specifically, are east. She is probably only temporarily dead. If that is the case, the question would be, will she stay there, reassert herself as queen in Mereen, and rule benevolently as she started out, or will she be bent on revenge against Jon Snow?

    • @heatherpayne1995
      @heatherpayne1995 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @Opnn8d1
      @Opnn8d1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

@@heatherpayne1995 True... But neither the prince / princess that was promised has accomplished anything. She went mad and died. Jon killed her and was just a shell of himself, and has retreated into the True North... Unless the free folk are really the only real group of humanity that matters and the rest is doomed, then he's serving no purpose there.
He didn't serve a purpose in the Long Night. He was just there. Arya was the victor.
Dany didn't do anything either. She was just there.
I think that it isn't the prince OR princess that was promised that the prophecy speaks of, but rather the prince AND princess. Both together.
Jon was brought back to serve a purpose. That he hasn't served yet. Dany was being carried to Esos where the red priests and priestesses are most prevalent. That at least opens the door to the POSSIBILITY of he return.
If she did return, and somehow the part of herself that is lost is the madness, she could actually become the good queen she might have been had everything not gone sideways. And being in Essos, she could return to her former throne in mereen. She would learn that the iron throne doesn't exist anymore, and that the new King is the first step in breaking the wheel without destroying cities, she may be content to stay there.
Jon on the other hand, if he learns of Dany's return, may well go to Essos to see for himself and to beg forgiveness, willing to die if she won't forgive. But without the madness, and a clear understanding of what she wpuld have done had he NOT killed her, and the fact that she is alive again in spite of it, I think she would forgive him. And they would rule together as both Prince and Princess that was promised, now King and Queen
How would he get to Essos?
On the back of his own dragon. It has been widely speculated that somehow an ice dragon will play a role in the ultimate conclusion of the story, and that Martin would not have made reference to one unless he intends to use it. If this is the case, then the song of Ice and Fire will be fulfilled. A song suggests harmony. So a union of both will be necessary.
Something that Bran says to Jon at the end is very important: You were exactly where you needed to be. Bran knows something. Jon going beyond the wall is again him being exactly where he needs to be. Dany being carried east is putting her exactly where she needs to be. I think Tyrion knows something as well. "Ask me again in ten years." That's a very specific time period...
And he suggested that he would come north to see Jon. "Ten years as hand of the king is enough to make anyone want to piss off the edge of the world"
So I figure that it will take Dany a full decade to fully get to a place where she can come to terms with what she would have done, and what was done to her and be ready to see Jon again.
The Great Other, the power behind the White Walkers may have other ways to touch the world, and the focal point of its influence may not have been in the north... But west of westeros.
A formal alliance will exist between the North and the Six Kingdoms. Jon and Dany will unite the kingdoms in the East. When the shit starts to hit the fan, the forces of Westeros will sail west and the forces of Esos will sail East, and the battle will take place in the lands between. Two empires fully engaged for common goal. And the battle, I believe, will ultimately be won at the cost of both Jon and Dany's lives, the blood of Ice and Fire mingling to seal the Great Other forever.
That's just my head canon, of course. But until GRRM actually rleases the last two books, and the real ending is revealed (assuming it will be different from the show), that's what I'm going to go with. Other people's mileage may vary.

I still suffer from the shocking murder of Dany. It is as though a part of my mind is not settled or realized. Dany survived and endured all kinds of hell through out nearly all seasons, including fire itself, in order make her goal a reality. She was a good, decent, kind, and honourable Queen. It was her pain and sorrow that made her go wild, not mad. She lost every person close to her because of Tyrion. In fact, Jon would"ve also died if Dany had stayed in dragonstone and done nothing, which Tyrion also advised. But she went to rescue him anyway. All of Dany's disgrace was caused by Tyrion. And Jon. I guess Lyanna only wanted her son to live, not to take his throne after all, which in the end was nothing but a lame, miserable and frustrating realization for us. Thank you.

Ser Davos was pretty kind and nice (on the show anyway). Though he wasn't technically a "high Lord", he was a "made" man originally from the same poor part of King's Landing as Gendry, though at least he didn't let the power (and he did wield some) and the nature of the cruel world (he's been around the seas and seen a LOT of cruelty all over the world and also lost sons during the war) change him to being a dck. He was even glad when Stannis only took a few fingers. Though in my opinion Stannis was a dck for that. Davos and his supplies rescued the hell out of Stannis's army at that point and Davos must have had to put himself and his ship in some pretty huge risk to achieve that feat too, so cutting the guy up after he's well and truly pulled your ass from already way far into the fire was uncool, in my opinion.
His "niceness" almost cost him his life with Stannis, I can't help feel that almost certainly the same thing would happen if he served as hand to Daenerys, but with worse results this time.

I would say he probably took her back to Volantis , so that a Red Priest or Priestess could try to revive her. Keep in mind this wouldn’t be the first time someone from the GOT was brought back from the dead. Also, if the books follow true with the basic plot twists of the series , John Snow who is undead himself killed his Aunt/Lover/Queen. So it’s safe to say what is dead in Westeros doesn’t always stay dead. To me this would be a logical way to end the series ( if Daenerys assassination was really Martin’s desired ending) Drogon perched over Danny’s body as a Red Priestess chants to the Lord of Light . The Book ends with her eyes opening and Drogon shooting a fiery roar in the air.

"If Dany isn't sitting on it, no one is."??
I actually thought he burned that throne because her desire and hunger for that big chunk of metal is what ultimately killed her. What made that scene so powerful for me personally was the fact that Drogon was overcome with grief but directed his fury towards the thing that really killed his mother and not Jon the hand that killed her.
Saying he did it just so no one else can sit on that throne takes so much away from that scene.

I assumed that Drogon's destruction of the throne was a demonstration of anger. Dany's downfall was caused by her ever-growing desire for power and for the throne itself, so he destroyed the damn thing that had caused so much harm to so many people over the years. In a way, he broke the wheel that Dany had once been determined to break... Of course, I might be reading too much into this, but the fact that he did NOT burn Jon, but that he burned the throne itself, is a symbol of this. I don't care what some people say, this was a brilliant (but simply devastating) conclusion to her storyline.

It was far from brilliant. It's not that it's an issue that she died. But how her character changed and got there. The hardship, like losing a dragon, her army (and then not) she endured was far from logical. It deserved a more gradual aproach. And then when she goes mad. She doesn't go straight to her enemy, but kills the citizens... I'm not even going to mention all of the other nonsensical stuff in the last few seasons.

Reality: What he *didn’t* do with her body and more about Dany’s death

I always wanted to see more of bran's , children of the forest, the knight king story in the show and hoped that some spin off on the knight king will be made but that also got cancelled by HBO 😣

Who was saying that Drogon ate her? I didn’t hear that as being the prevalent theory. What was the popular theory was that Drogon was taking her to the Red priestesses for resurrection. That was based of the fact that the last episodes mentions him flying east.

Took her to Volantis to be revived by a red priest. From there, Dany puts her life back together and wonders if revenge is worth it.

Drogon took her off camera, had some Starbucks latte and went to his trailer to prepare for the wrap up party.

Honestly, I’m surprised not a whole lot of people saw Dany slowly start to lose it. I personally picked up on it starting in late season 4. Like..... Kings landing surrendered. And she got triggered by the red keep, so she decided to kill a bunch of innocent people. I don’t like how it ended at all because Dany was all about breaking the wheel and remaking a better world. I don’t like how the writers twisted it and made her this evil character in the end.

"If Dany's not going to sit on it, no one's going to sit on it." That's a disappointing quote. I always assumed it was a "This thing killed my mother" moment.

All we need now is to wait 10 year until someone re-make the show. But it will not be the same without Kit, Emilia, Sophie...
I hope then we could get the ending we deserve

About all we can hope for instead is for George RR to write the final 2 books but with better plotting.

The fact that drogon took off with Daenerys and John went full circle to his roots kinda gives me hope... maybe they will make some other show related to GOT that will pick up from where this one left off? Would be amazing

He took her to get revived by dark witches in the east country...and guess whose sailing there at the end to notice her return .... That's my own theory for another season

Daenerys wasn't drunk with power, she was mad with grief. She lost her two best friends and two of her children in pretty quick succession - that would mess with anyone's head.

She was a fire born, fireproof and gained life from the flame itself. The dragon should have just breathe on her to engulf her in flames and make her reborn as she gains life from fire. Something she witnessed also has weaknesses when she witnessed her brother actually dying to a golden crown, molten gold poured over his head. It wasn't fire, so he couldn't heal.

    Couple questions:
    1. HOW did Jon NOT get burned standing that close to the throne and the radiant heat from Drongon burning down the iron throne.
    2. How did Drongon know that Dany had gone to co-co-land and Jon did the right thing?
    3. Did Drogon sense Jon's Targaryen heritage and spare him due to being a true born?
    So many questions

    • @heatherpayne1995
      @heatherpayne1995 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

1 Jon was cowering next to Dany 's body when Drogon was flaming. The radiant heat probably didn't feel good but Drogon wouldn't burn her.
      2. He didn't. But he came into the throne room to find Jon crying over Dany's body. He didn't assume a grieving person would have killed her.
      3. Possibly, the Fire and Blood book says the dragons will recognize Valyrian blood. They wouldn't care if his parents were married or not. But that didn't prevent many past Targaryens from becoming dragon chow.

Drogon basically said “My mom waited her whole life trying to get to this throne, only to be killed before she sat on it? F*ck Westeros AND the Iron Throne!”
And they didn’t even reveal anything! I want my 4 minutes and 34 seconds back.

my theory is that he brought her to the red priest that was introduced somewhere in around season 3 or 4 in Mereen. The red priest maybe then revived Dany

The show could’ve ended exactly how we saw it, and still been good, had they just done a better job leading up to it. We needed two more full seasons. They gave us 6 episodes.

They could still redeem themselves in a few years by saying Drogon took the body to some Measter in Valyria for revival, and five or ten years later she returns in full max Queen mode going after Bran and the throne. That’d be dope.

Add to that the knight king Arya killed wasn’t THE night king and he’s still alive. I want my Jon vs night king rematch they stole from us. And Bran is actually the badguy and who the night king was really after, Bran was a threat to everyone.
