Recursive DNS Server -> are your DNS servers to which clients directly interact and expect a direct answer yes or no.
authoritative DNS Servers -> are actual server that holds your domain record.
root domain server -> top-level domain noted by "dot"
name server -> server which holds different types of record ex. A,NS,AAAA etc.

Recursive DNS server, jo client ke taraf se request receive karta hai aur us domain name ka IP address pata karne ke liye complete process ko handle karta hai.
Authoritative DNS server wo server hota hai jo ek particular domain name ke liye final and correct DNS records ko store aur serve karta hai.
Root domain servers DNS hierarchy ke top pe hote hain aur root zone ke DNS information ko store karte hain
Name server ek general term hai jo DNS server ko refer karta hai jo domain names ko IP addresses me resolve karta hai.

Authoritative DNS servers are the authority on DNS records and store DNS record information while recursive DNS servers interact directly with the end user.
A root server accepts a recursive resolver's query which includes a domain name, and the root nameserver responds by directing the recursive resolver to a TLD nameserver

When we hit a particular website the request is first sent to the DNS resolver then it forwards it to the route name server which contains the TLD information. Then it forwards the request to recursive servers to check for the domain and the server that knows the exact IP of your server where to forward the traffic is called the Authorative DNS server. Name servers are the servers that contain the address of your website in case one is not able to respond so that other can respond and there are unique.

Recursive Server is the middleman between browser and Root Resolver. When it receives a request, it looks into it cache if it can resolve. If not, it checks with all, Root Server, TLD Server and Authoritative Server in this order to resolve the query.

    • Recursive DNS Server
A recursive DNS lookup is where one DNS server communicates with several other DNS servers to hunt down an IP address and return it to the client.
    • Authoritative DNS server
is the final holder of the IP of the domain you are looking for
    • Root Domain Server
is a name server for the domain name server’s root zone that directly answers requests for records in the root zone and also answers other requests, returning a list of the designated authoritative name servers for the appropriate top-level domain; hence, the server to query when looking up a top-level domain
    • Name server
Translate the domain name into an IP address, connecting information that's easy for humans to understand with information that's easy for computers to understand.

Nameserver = It is used to provide the home address for the presence of the domain name and helps connect domain names with IP addresses.
Root Nameserver = are used to match the Top Level Domains(TLD) information of the domain name to easily find and locate the IP address of the domain name.
Recursive Nameserver = are used to match the subdomains part of the given URL to track the IP of the requested URL.
Authotatitive Nameserver = are used to store the real IP address information and convert the requested URL domain name with the related IP address so that that IP address can go through the internet to the real server and fetch the response for the requester.

Recursive and Iterative DNS Queries. ... Recursion in DNS (Domain Name System) is the process of a DNS Server, querying other DNS Server on behalf of original DNS Client. Iteration is the process of a DNS Client, making repeated DNS (Domain Name System) Queries to different DNS Servers for name resolution
An authoritative name server provides actual answer to your DNS queries such as - mail server IP address or web site IP address (A resource record). It provides original and definitive answers to DNS queries. ... It is used to share DNS server load and to improve DNS zone availability in case master server fails.
