The MASTER OF STEEL GUITARS is in the house !!! That style you possess will never be copied, you are the greatest I have ever seen and heard play...God bless you and you have blessed us with your talents!! John from the USA !!!
I hope to god that Soloman Burke had an opportunity to hear this rendition by mr hartley before he passed. He was on his way to play in amsterdam against drs. orders and suffered a pulmonary embolism. Thanks to both dave and soloman.
I sit at work hitting the replay button on this song over and over again with my headphones on. People see me smiling and wondering what drugs I am on. I am wishing I could play one of these instruments....Wow, is Dave ever good.
There is not one day in the past 2 years since I discovered Dave's channel that I don't listen to at least three of his songs. This one is my very favorite! If I visit this song it gets played at least 5 times over and over...just have to force myself to quit.
Hi Gang! This is JudyKennedy/Davenport It appears that David is more at 'home on his 'Rains'. Get it? ha ha Those sounds make my body have chills! I'm 75 yrs and hopefully to learn some steps to go with His & John's music so I can put my feelings with it.
I love this video of my favorite song. Sure wish I could get a tab of the way you pay this song. Keep up the good work of playing all the traditional country songs.
Beautiful job, as always, from a top notch steel guitarist. Not all great steel men live in Nashville........And he plays a Rains, just like me....Kudos!!!!!!!
Dave, That is one of the most beautiful songs you have chosen to play. What a great job. The tone and the background is perfect. You are a wonderful steel player. Top notch in every aspect. Great job. Keep them coming. Dan Bishop Wake Forest, NC
Davey me boy. I check every day to see if you have a new video. You do not disappoint, David. You do NOT disappoint!! You do make that Rains sing. Your American Best Buddy, Sacramento Chuck
I think, you have the best steelsound, of all steelplayers, on the Internet. I like most of your songs and, from time to time, I'm waching one or two. It seems so easy, see you playing, but I know better. I played for 15 years as a drummer/singer in a country band. The band includes a steel player. Unfortunately he died last year. Keep up the good work. Greetings from Holland... Roel van Deursen. You can find several links on TH-cam to rcdeursen and TREND.
I'm on what is called a 'dating site' over here and I've been trying to garner this man's 'full' attention. This song rings true because we are 800 miles apart plus he doesn't have as strong feelings as mine. JudyKennedy..One of your faithful followers.
Dave, over the years I've listened to many of steel guitar players, starting Alvino Ray,and Pete Drake, Speedy West and many others. But for my money, your the best of the best .Ed connie1445
I wish to thank you all for your comments to my youtube broadcasts. It is very much appreciated. I do try and contact you all personally if there's any questions that I have been asked, and I also make note of all your requests too. I have some great ideas for future videos and I will try and play some of your requests also. Wishing you all a happy Christmas and a New Year. Sincerely, David Hartley
Yup, the Hartley Finger Magic, perfectly played and arranged. Sounds a lot easier that it is to play. But that's how it should be. Hope to see you soon! J.R.
PS I just wish I had something that I could 'amplify' your music. Only thing I have is a laptop computer's speakers. I live on a small acreage (probably 'thank goodness') I BLAST IT. Yes, even at my 75 yrs (young, as your lady "Linda Lafferty" says!
David, if I came to England every weekend would you charge me for lessons? Or would you just want to HELP A BROTHA OUT, MAN? I told you once, if you keep practicing I just know you will learn to pick that steel guitar thing. Heck, I even have a hard time pickin' a scab. YOU ROCK my friend. Your number one fan, Sacramento Chuck
@rothrock65 Hi, I was wondering when some says my steel is moving. Its the deep pile carpet under the steel to stop my office chair sliding around. Ha. Many thanks for all your comments. David
You are my favorite player on youtube. I do have a question though, does that bottom string dig into your thumb. I just noticed how you hold you tone bar. It looks very stable but it almost looks like it is underneath or up againest the string, just wondering.
Dave, over the years I've listened to many steel guitar players, starting Alvino Ray,and Pete Drake, Speedy West and many others. But for my money, your the best of the best .Ed connie1445

How do I get permission from Dave to use his music on some videos?
ask him
U did a Nice Job on this-Have U ever tried Patsys' song Called "STRANGE"?
You are my favorite player on youtube. I do have a question though, does that bottom string dig into your thumb. I just noticed how you hold you tone bar. It looks very stable but it almost looks like it is underneath or up againest the string, just wondering.
