    Big moment for the kid to make a debut on this channel and have his game commentated by Mr.King! Youngest ever to feature on PowerPlayChess? I think so

    • @sofialoses

      Is it really talent if the kid has five coaches? In chess, we should really be considering all the talent that's getting left behind because it's such an expensive experience.

    • @PaulFurber

      @@sofialoses He's 10 and knocking on the door of being an IM. He's a talent which is why he's attracted coaches. It is a bit chicken and egg though I agree.

    • @sofialoses

      @@PaulFurber he definitely is, but I'm saying that a lot of what is considered chess genius is mostly parents giving them a ton of money and attention. Right, to even get to like 1500 and get that coach, you have to be exposed to those opportunities. A kid can't do a lot on their own.

    I have seen all the games that Faustino has posted and it is really incredible what he is playing and every day that passes he plays better because he is correcting his mistakes typical of his short chess career.

    Long time fan here! In fact most of what I do in my spare time is watch your old videos. I just wanted to let you know something important... that semi-circle in the side of the cup is called a handle... you use it to lift the cup when you want to drink. Good luck!

    • @PowerPlayChess

      A handle should certainly be used with a cup. But this is a mug, a far larger and less dainty receptical, and different rules apply.

      @Yetia 2

      Yes, this lines may be work for unprepared rivals, but playing that line that Faustino have studied, it was very bad. Indeed David told his friends he will play that line, and they told them that not played that crippy line. Faustino was well prepared and then David wanted to improvise and stir waters, may be with b5.

  • @brendan3143

    He may be a good player but his opponent moving his queen six times in the first 12 or 13 moves can’t be desirable! Plus, as the cherry on top, a little pawn move at the edge of the board in there as well.

    Safe to say, that's probably not the last Faustino game we'll see on this channel. Well, played.
    Love seeing the Scandinavian opening lose. Online, I have 709 games played against it with a 74% win percentage. That's the HIGHEST against ANY opening I've faced. Statistically, it is the WORST opening I've ever faced. And I think that's true, because it is one of the few openings I have never, EVER, studied. If you're going to play it, you better know it like a grandmaster...oh, wait, you need to know it even better apparently. ;)

    • @PowerPlayChess

      Very interesting! What are you doing against the Scandi that's so good? Or is it that your opponents don't play it very well?

    • @LateCloser

      @@PowerPlayChess I try to play an early Be2. That seems to mess up Scandi players. It's really just they're playing poorly. And maybe that opening is more attractive to weaker players than others. :)

    It's Lariño (pronounced Larinyo) not Larino. Lariño, known as El Fo, is a legend in the spanish-speaking chess world, and made my favourite chess video of all time, this crazy banter blitz victory over Eljanov. th-cam.com/video/-x2jnDwfxPU/w-d-xo.html I went to comment that it was the most fun I'd ever had watching chess, and found half the comments were already saying that! Looks like he'll be slaughtered after the first couple of games. Probably you can enjoy it almost as much not speaking spanish! Although it's pretty funny "I'm gonna play knight c3 to b1, to see how the Ukrainian explains it on his channel" etc. "bocadillo de atun" is a tuna sandwich. The best part is Divis and Fo's dance of joy at the end =)

    I wonder why the opponent isn't currently playing at GM strength...35 isn't that old.

    • @PowerPlayChess

      Ratings are only an average and every player has swings in form (he scored 50% in the tournament). Age is only one factor. Larino might simply have other things going on in his life that are more important. Speaking from my own experience, I can tell you that I found it impossible to give as much at the chess board when family came along, for example. Only a small dip from 100% is enough to have huge consequences.

  • @paulgreen7906

    Wow what a rating for a 10 year old. What was Magnus, Polgar, Kasparov or Karajakin rating back when they were 10? No hint of jealousy from an 50 something chess patzer hovering around 2000 rating hehe.
