No joke, easily one of my favorite parts of this is watching how Laura reacts as her hubby's character development is happening. The face when she realizes that he's dropping the fake accent is PRICELESS.
Jeff B he should, however now that Travis is speaking for longer stretches in his British accent, I’ve noticed that he can’t always keep the RP accent consistent and sometimes slides into something a little less formal, much the same way as Liam did with Vax, so it wouldn’t surprise me if he went slightly cockney on some words. The slight variation in accents worked well for Vax’s character though (and seemed to be a conscious choice, from what I can tell) and it could be that it works well for Fjord too, particularly as he’s spent to long around people with completely different accents, it’s natural he’d be subconsciously affected. (Also I’m not meaning to criticise either Travis or Liam by saying their British accents vary sometimes, obviously they’re both super talented and way better at voices than I could ever hope to be, it’s just an observation).
Suzy Lightning Good point, Cockney is WAY closer to home and would use the harsher non-rhotic “ahr” kinda sound. Speaking as a filthy colonial who has never been to the UK it can be tough to avoid slipping between accents (even though RP and Cockney have pretty pronounced differences). I guess it’s probably like a British person trying to sound like a Southern US accent and slipping into Western US.
Just imagine how cinematic this scene would be in a film... the scene only being lit my the lava, the framing, and when Fjord casts out the falchion all we’d hear is the whining of wind as it passes through. Then the shot of the blade and fjord in the background with the eye of uk’otoa in the falchion lining up with fjord’s as it sinks. PURE CINEMATOGRAPHY
Then for a cinematic scene, make it go around fjord when he holds the sword over the lava. Then make the music stop as he feels the comfort, a small window through the smoke will be seen as he pull the blade back. The scene follows the sword with fjord in the back.
I keep imagining that just before the falchion sinks it's last couple inches into the lava it gives a thumbs up just before going under. *Waits to see if anyone gets that reference*
@@Idofphoenix Nah. Fjord's got this. As a Hexblade, he's got proficiencies with Martial Weapons and Shields. He knows how to use all that stuff. Matt's look and response to Travis could very well have meant "good luck" or "you're crazy; he's going to kill you" or simply "shit, I wasnt expecting this." Now, I'm not saying you're wrong or that he was close to success; I'm just pointing out that we don't know what Matt Mercer could, would, will or won't do, what Fjord's patron might do, or what piece of lore or backstory involving Fjord and his link to Uka-Toejam & Earl might still be hidden from the audience's view.
FUN FACT: for anybody who didn't know. 17:35 - Travis is the voice actor of Roy Mustang in Fullmetal Alchemist/FMA Brotherhood. That character usually wears a glove and can emit a fiery explosion from his hands. Now Fjord has a glove of blasting.
I LOVED how the party supported Fjord in their own ways. Clay was just a sweetheart as always, knowing Fjord's true potential. The one that warmed my heart was Caleb, how he gave him glove of blasting so he wouldn't be vulnerable. It shows both characters have come a long way, especially the scene during the heist back early in the campaign. This was really touching.
Yeah, Caleb basically spurred on a small collective movement on Fjords behalf. "Here take this.. and where's that whip?" He was determined to reassure him he did the right thing.
the moment he admits hes just normal guy again and they all just start offering stuff for him to use with no care for themselves or greed is such a amazing moment for the campaign.

The entire cast is so good at weaving their tales into the narrative that Matt lays out. Well done Travis, for giving us the most shocking piece of your characters story so far. Bravo.
I suppose that Uk'otoa is not something that you can just say goodbye without consequences... Expecially if the last orb is still in your chest, though inactive, as I suspect. The other possibility is that now the orb is under the molten lava, as the sword melt, but I think it is unlikely. Next few episodes we will see what kind of ordeal Fjord will have to endure to sigil this change, and it will be an ordeal to pass without powers...

Casual reminder that Beau is the only one of the entire Nein that doesn't have magic, or at least the magic one uses to cast spells. She might've been talking as an outsider's perspective on all the amazing shit the others can do, while she can basically just punch good.
deffdefying I still think this is a weird line of thought. Sure everyone can cast spells (though fjord and nott only barely), but the amount of ridiculous and powerful stuff monks can do shouldn’t lead to thinking of the monk as lesser. I mean, she literally ran up a 300 foot tall tree, stunned enemies at extremely crucial moments, done insane amounts of damage, and so much more over the campaign. Its like making it to the olympics but not getting a medal placement. You aren’t the best of the best, but you made it to the olympics for god’s sake. That alone is a crazy achievement.
@@deffdefying4803 She can literally use ki to be super human fast, stun enemies, run up walls, ignore gravity to an extent and more. Not a Marisha hater or anything, I’m fully aware she is amazing, just don’t like this and one or two other aspects of Beau. Edited for typo.

What makes this even better is that Fjord originally owned the glove and traded it to Caleb for that special water armor at Caleb's request, because fire. I love how he just gave it back without a moment's hesitation.
I broke my pact with The Raven Queen in a campaign. Out of the story I was tired of warlock and wasn't having fun. I RP'ed it as my Tabaxi deciding he couldn't rely on supernatural powers to fix his shortcomings. She took all my memories and I made him an Artificer.

And then he proceeds to save Beau and Cad with just pure willpower and strength alone. Man the dice-gods mean it good with Travis. The whole worm fight was amazing
The look on Travis's face during the dream, you can see he's made his decision. He's done with Uk'otoa. He's made his decision that he's not getting jerked around anymore.
With his stats...hmm, he may have to take the Oath of the Ancients Paladin. The tenants of that Oath are pretty simple...protect your own Light, and the Light in the world. A nice change of pace from the visions of powerlust and doom. That, or perhaps Archfey Warlock...that would suit the Wildmother and her domain.
I suspect that it will be an opportunity for Matt and Travis to sit down together and explore their creativity. Its an opportunity to investigate the idea of `redeemed`. IDK if we ever really knew if the warlock pact with Uggutoa? was agreed to by Fjord or simply `there` after the shipwreck. I kind of like the idea of a class based around the conscious choice to sacrifice a power rooted in evil that takes a little bit from Paladin, but is more rooted in divine spell based protection/damage reduction and attack rather than the Martial Path.
Yeah paladin is tricky with low strength and dex. Their spells aren’t really good enough to carry the class on their own. Honestly I’m hoping for sorcerer! He’s got the charisma for it, and sorcerers sometimes come into to their powers through crazy events that happen to them, so it’d be fairly easy to weave it into the story.

When Molly died Caleb was only beginning to realize he kind of enjoyed this new thing he had going, but the stress of putting his life on the line to get it back was a little much for him. Now though, that bond is even deeper, Caleb no doubt views them as a family and I think if another Lorenzo situation had happened, there would be no inner struggle whatsoever, just blazing fireballs of revenge.
Caleb is also refjordging himself :)

How DnD players see it.
Then for a cinematic scene, make it go around fjord when he holds the sword over the lava. Then make the music stop as he feels the comfort, a small window through the smoke will be seen as he pull the blade back. The scene follows the sword with fjord in the back.

If they go the full class swap then it could, but he would need to play a defensive or supportive Oath playstyle. Since his attack stats are garbage.
Yeah paladin is tricky with low strength and dex. Their spells aren’t really good enough to carry the class on their own. Honestly I’m hoping for sorcerer!
