    An idea to cover the Honda in the winter (and keep the salt and crap off of it) is a contractor bag. They are thick and flexible to wrap around the Honda and you could wrap a bungee cord around the base of the Honda to secure it. Kaufman stood behind their product and fixed it so A+ to them.

    There seems to be a lot of vent holes on the Honda cover. Does it need that much ventilation? Could small doors on hinges be mounted over the holes that could be open quickly when you need to run the Honda? Another idea would be to have a vinyl or canvas cover (sort of like a barbecue cover) made to put over the entire Honda housing when the Honda is not in use.

    Check the oil level in the honda, i was once delivered a new honda with gas in it but no oil, fortunately I checked before I started it.

    to keep the gooseneck bar from dropping, just keep the cylinder from extending, by running a strap from area near rear mount to clevis area of cylinder

      I've used their wedge car trailers for years myself.We put them through hell hauling wrecks for our tow company and to be honest they arent designed for what we do but they last and saved us a ton of money compared to a car hauler.I didnt know they made low boys until a while ago so his perspective on them is better than mine.But what I can say is they are well built,no frills,good quality product that they firmly stand behind.They knew we were dragging wrecks up ours and never gave us a issue on the few times over the years we had trouble.If service after the sale is important with competitive pricing it is hard to beat their products.Just ask any owner operator who runs one and I am sure you'll hear the same thing.

    I still think that pump needs some kind of support on the end away from the motor to take some of the pressure off the motor base where it cracked.

    Wonder why they don't do a lip cut back where everyone of the Tie down rings are to give even better clearance for chains to stop rubbing the edge completely

    Illinois is 57k on 3 axles all others states it's 60k and higher the one on the left is a higher ton

    For someone who wants to do heav hula should they first learn flatbed then move up to drop deck and then finally heavy haul? I was looking at keen transport but don't have much info, they do have training though.

      In my opinion, it doesn't matter what steps you take to get where you want to go. There is a learning curve regardless of your past experience. Securement doesn't differ from one type of trailer to the next (with the exception of ratings). Don't slow track your career because you think you have to take all these little steps to get where you want to be. Also, the term "Heavy Haul" is relative, and not reserved for multi-axle RGN's. Check out some of my videos if you want to see a completely different side of the industry.

      ***** Your points are all valid, but I don't like people to think they have to take all of these steps...It's not necessary. Everybody learns at a different pace....At the end of the day, move forward when you feel comfortable.
      That's all in my humble opinion though. To each their own. My career, is not theirs and theirs is not mine.

    Hello and on that cylinder that drops down and might tear up your fenders, I would put a ball valve on the line that causes it to drop, then you can when your done raising and using the cylinder just shut the valve and prevent it from backflowing and dropping. Easy fix other than a strap. Have a good day. And drive safe.

      I was thinking the same thing and going to write that but as this is an older video I was reading the comments first to see if somebody already suggested that the other thing it could be happening is maybe the cylinder itself is leaking at the rod end and therefore not leaking back into the hydraulic tank which would not prevent it from falling if that was the case I would replace the cylinder and get one that doesn't leak out but yes you're right if it's leaking back past the control valve and back to the reservoir or hydraulic tank then the ball valve would be the best thing.

    Sergi, what is the axle spacing of the trailer axles? 5' (60") I assume? I would have to disagree with your assessment of what the states will give you on a quad. I run a 4 axle trailer, and almost every state will allow me to permit 80,000# on the quad. Heck, Minnesota will give me 90,000# on my quad. Texas and Oklahoma and Virginia are the main exceptions.

      no, it's 54", I think. definitely not 60". I wanted a longer well and 26' works great.

      We actually have a 4 axle flatbed. You've seen our trailer before, when you ran into the older gentleman who used to pull it. I heard you mention it in one of your previous videos. It's a custom built 53' all aluminum flat. Our axles are 5 foot, or 60" spacings.

      +Nick Mordaunt everything is different on a lowboy. if you use 60" axle spacings, then the well becomes shorter. and usually the longer the well is, the better.

    Sergei, it's completely up to you, but in my experiences with numerous Hondas, I suggest you only use Premium or higher octane fuel. By law, Canada has to use a certain amount of ethanol in their regular gas. Ethanol sweats a certain percent of water, making it not good for small engines. This is especially bad for engines in the winter time, like in your case going from cold weather to warm, and back again.. As usual, another good video..

      I only use ethanol free octane 91 gas from Canadian tire for the honda. same as in my Mazda. I hate ethanol!

    what size well do you have... I've been looking at low boys for a while.. have a drop deck.. is a 26' well enough.. or 29'

      you cannot have a 29' well on a 55 ton trailer but it's possible on a 35 ton with a flip axle. mine is 26' long. it's more than enough for a 55 ton.

    Quick question, I've always wondered but do the colors of trailers mean something or is it just for show?

      +David Null ah was just curious, I'm not a trucker but I've always been fascinated by them. We live on a farm so we have our fair share of trailers but no big rigs. We have a 30 foot gator gooseneck that gets most of our jobs done haha.

    When they installed the Honda in the first place it must not have been mounted properly never heard of a Honda cracking at the base plate. You may not be hauling 55 ton but you have a trailer that heavy enough to haul anything you are able too that's what counts. I seriously doubt anybody has hauled 55 tons on one of their trailers. Your trailer will last you for at least 20 more years if you don't abuse it. As for that hole you want covered get yourself some 3/8s checker plate aluminum it may be a little expensive but its light weight and fairly strong.

    You need a chassis plate to walk on so you don't have to scale the frame of the chassis to look in to the Honda engineer, just to make it easy for you.

    Hey sergei I think I would have those guys make you a heavy coil spring for each side of the gooseneck lift instead of using a strap. that way there is always positive up pressure on it, those little 1 inch straps won't last long in the weather, just some thoughts good luck.

      The neck of the trailer disconnects, these trailers load from the front.

      You normally don't see steerable axles on trailers until you get into the big 13 axles, double Schnable's, or even up into the 19 axle range.

      runs oil in the hydraulic system. otherwise I wouldn't be able to operate the trailer.

    Hi Sergei. Very informative video. Now you have visited the toy store would you consider doing a video explaining how to spec a trailer. Obviously it important to get both the major dimensions and the the smaller details right. I am thinking about D ring location, switch positioning, strengthening weak spots, etc. right from the start. Maybe tell us what you would spec and the reasons why, if you had the luxury of trading in yours tomorrow.

    Your Honda mount looks much better, they make covers for mowers or generators that might work on your Honda look on Amazon.

    Will you replace your trailer at some time in the future due to corrosion, or wear? Are there tax breaks to replace your equipment?

      Kaufman makes a damn good product for less than half the price............Not saying trailking isnt a good product but I dont see the cost being worth it for a lowboy trailer..........Some of their other products maybe but not for a lowboy.Its really easy to spend others money but having dealt with Kaufman I wouldnt hesitate to buy another trailer from them.

      +SouthJerseySound To each their own. I worked for trail King as a welder, so I saw first hand how their built and over welded. I talked to a bunch of drivers that hauled TK trailers and they said they would never haul anything else. I'm not saying that Kaufman ain't a good trailer I just know the TK trailers better, and I built the lowboy trailers when I was there.

      I understand where you're coming from and if I had a construction company etc and was looking for a lowboy that everyone would be beating on a TK would be at the top of the list.But for a owner op where you care for your own gear daily I just dont see the need for it with the price difference.Especially with how well Kaufman stands behind their products after the sale.........Both are good units and have their pluses and minuses depending on where you are and what you need.
