With Hyper-V, you can make use of the storage snapshot capabilities potentially with an Off-Host Backup Proxy and use of Hardware VSS Writers if your storage vendor has one. Hi there! There are two snapshots taken, but only in the course of the backup. The first is a VM snapshot, which is released right after the storage snapshot. Once the backup job is done, the storage snapshot is released. This optionally can be done with only one snapshot (storage only) in newer versions of Veeam. Are these backups from storage snapshot only available with VMware and not with Hyper-V?

what is the maximum number of snapshots per storage per processor?
Does this mean that there are actually two snapshots done for every backup with this approach?
