Thank you, Mr Gianopoulos, for posting this Suite Delphique. I have always liked this piece of music. Jolivet has the knack for creating a magic atmosphere thanks to his use of musical instruments, timbres, and rythms. There's something spellbinding in his musical approach to Greek Antiquity. He was indeed a great imaginative composer.

Completely agree! It is also why I'm enchanted with his music.

The bizarre instrumentation creates soundscapes that are truly novel and hypnotic. A beautiful work from the great Jolivet, whom I have just discovered.

Oh those French with their goddamn ondes martenot(s)...not sure what the plural form of that is.

I was looking meaninglessly at the score thinking what is Mart., then when I heard it I was like "of course the ondes martenot".

I wished you liked the "goddam" ondes Martenot (without an "s" !) ; this instrument may prove very expressive indeed. Not only did Jolivet use it, Messiaen used it as well. You are not very kind to Maurice Martenot. Note that the French composers of the 20th century did not make excessive use of this instrument.

I am Spaniard and up until now my best composition is for three Ondes Martenot. Check Tomomi Kubo.
