Not posting anything on IG in real time is such a valuable tip! Also, don't disclose your home base, make it hard for people to find you. Stay safe, everyone. ❤
I would also like to tell people who don't work as influencers and don't earn from social media: STOP posting everything you do!! You have no idea how many information can be collected about you just looking at what you post!! Stop posting the moment when you're about to get on a flight, stop posting while you're on vacation and stop accetting every follow request you receive just because you want to have thousands of followers (having a private account is useless if u have 2000-3000 followers)... I do understand that you feel the need to show off but you have to start using social media more cosciunsly because this overposting addiction is dangerous and also ridiculous if you are a grown ass adult
I have a private account and literally keep a very small circle of friends and family..total of like 15. But I don’t over post. I also not don’t try to post in real time but even if I do like I said it’s a private account of people I trust. but yeah it’s always good to be safe than sorry.
Yup! I don't even post those apps that show where you've ran (I run a lot). I don't post anywhere I'm working. I don't post my Rolex, Cartier, my trips to Bali etc etc. Let people think I'm broke, good. At least I'm safe.. and this is coming from a 24/7 gun/knife toting military guy. I take 0 chances. Criminals love a good opportunity.
I am sorry it happens to you and hope you will get the bags back. Italian lady here who travels all over the world and mostly solo. Sadly designer things make you a target. The only time I almost got robbed, ironically, was in Milan after leaving Hermes with their orange shoppers. After that when I go luxury shopping I either take a cab or ask for anonymous shoppers. Pro tips for travelling anywhere: no luxury luggage (gets damaged and makes you a visible target anytime you carry it and in your hotel room), no visible jewelry and luxury items unless you are going to a specific place and coming back with uber/taxis. When you are out exploring just wear nice outfits that do not scream tourist or "I am rich". For Italy specifically, always close your purses and keep them with a hand/under your shoulder in city/crowded places, do not leave your luggage in cars, especially at autogrills on the motorways. Leave one person in the car, if possible. Other risky places are near the beach. Better to arrive at the next hotel, leave everything, and go exploring afterwards. Anytime I am with luggage I try to look as inconspicuous as possible and blend in. If you rent a car, try to avoid luxury models and any car that is visibly rental, that immediately identifies you as a tourist. The only place in the world where I would feel safe not taking precautions may be Japan
I always try not to leave shops with a luxury bag. Usually I hide it. I live in the UK and I do it here too. Once I've seen a guy stealing an Apple bag from a girl in the city centre of a "posh" British town and running away with it. Since then, I never walk around with a branded bag
How does the anonymous shoppers thing work at Hermes or other big designer stores? Me and my husband bought our wedding bands from Cartier, and the only thing we had done to the classic red bag was it had been put within another white simple bag, in order to make it seem like we did not purchase anything from Cartier. We additionally put that bad in my husband's backpack so nobody outside the store would see us leaving with a bag in hand. But I wonder how does it work for other stores? I know sometimes you can request the store to ship your product to your hotel directly so you do not need to worry about travelling with your new purchase around town...
@@nanekatharina3911 it is the same concept. Most store nowadays have white bags and some will fold the branded shopper bag and put it inside the white bag with the purchases. Another thing that I do is having a large black shopper made of canvas that can be folded into nothing on me. If the shop does not have unbranded shoppers I just use that. Although I think most shops now are equipped for this because sadly it has been an ongoing problem and risk in a lot of countries.
As a Japanese person living in Europe, I appreciate your comment. Since the Yen has depreciated by more than 30% this year against the dollar and euro, a different type of travelers are coming to Japan from all over the world. I started hearing about many incidents that I had never heard of before. Maybe from now on we should be careful more than before.
Being robbed feels like such a personal violation! I’m so sorry this happened to you. There are so many horrible people out there, and yet there are so many good and kind people as well. It is hard to focus on that when this happens! Yes, you are truly blessed in life!
This is heart breaking Lou, so sorry this happend to you and everyone else who had their items stolen. It sounds like a lot to process but you gave some great advice. I need to document all my items better and like you say, don't save for special occasions wear and enjoy because we never know what might happen, all we have is now.
Omg, Lou... I am so sorry this happened to you. Your wedding day is supposed to be the most cherished memory. Getting robbed days after your wedding is horrible and I could see why you would have a hard time separating the two events. I hope you and Paolo heal and have a prosperous marriage.
I never let anyone come in my hotel room to do housekeeping until I leave. They have asked and we say no. Notify front desk. This has helped not be robbed from inside the hotel. I am really sorry this happened.
I was raised with this major family philosophy: Every time you complain about something bad that happened to you, take a deep breath, close your eyes, and you'll find 2 (or more) things to be thankfull for this very same bad event. And it will imediatly change the way you'll feel about t. That's pretry much a thought about the famous "Don't worry, be happy and "Keep calm, and carry on"❤
There’s such a thing as toxic positivity. There’s nothing wrong with feeling, sad, mad, angry or violated. Those are valid feelings when something traumatic happens to us. People can attach sentimental value to personal items and they have a right to mourn if those items are lost or stolen. What’s probably unhealthy is to dwell on those feelings without realizing how blessed we may be despite the loss. Try not to tell someone how to process their experiences. These life events are very personal.
@@mintlatte9934 She's not telling anyone how to process their experiences. She's sharing what works for her in hopes that it may help someone. There's such a thing as trying to twist a positive, caring statement into something toxic.
@@mintlatte9934 I'm 48yo. Totally healthy, very well succeeded, a loving wife, a proud mom, and lucky enough to see my parents, who tought me to live by these standards, still alive and happy. So, I allow myself to believe its working just fine for us all. You can live doing whats good for you. And that's O-K-A-Y!
I’m so so sorry for what happened to you and your family. But the way that you’re handling this is incredible. I can see your strength thru the video. So glad no one got hurt, but the loss of your grandma’s jewelry so heartbroken bc sentimental value is everything 😢 sending so much love and protection your way 🩷
I lost my grandma last year and I know what it feels like to loose something that represents her and such sentimental and that linkage of that person. I’m happy you guys are safe and back home. But really really if I could or if anyone could. I wish you got those precious treasure of yours back. Air hug to you Lou ❤
When I can‘t fit my bags into the safe in a hotel room, I use a long metal chain with a lock and chain the bags through their handles to something sturdy in the hotel room, for example a radiator, enclosed parts of a sofa or bed, towel holder that is drilled into the wall….you can get Creative 🤓 That way, if someone wants to steal a bag they would have to destroy the handle or the chain or rip the hotel room apart.
@@bngr_bngr hey, do you have a recommendation for a really good lock? I mean of course not everything can be prevented but it makes things more difficult and less of an „invitation“ for an opportunity theft 🤓
@@SteffiHammerich the Kryptonite New York Chain will deter the average thief but it weights 15 pounds. The chain is very difficult to cut even with a diamond blade. If someone picks the lock to your room then they can pick this lock.
Firstly, I am so sad to hear about your losses; secondly, it's refreshing to see you working through all the emotions associated with this terrible violation, and lastly, you are a dear for your willingness to use your situation to help others. Rosey ❤
Many hugs to you, Polo and your family. Being robbed is an emotional, scary ordeal, let alone grieving the loss of your most precious hand me downs from your Grandmother 😢 I'm glad you're both safe. ❤️ ❤
You should be very proud of your emotional regulation, I’m taking tips from your handling of this; but I do hope that you may be able to recover some of what you have lost, especially your Grandmother’s pieces 💕
So sorry this happened to you Lou😢I can't imagine how heartbreaking it would have been.. but really glad you are home safe. Your safety tips are invaluable and so helpful for us all. Thank you so much for the courage to share. Take care xx
'The things you own end up owning you.' All that, and the stress and documentation, folders etc because of designer items, I say this as I do myself own many designer bags and stress while traveling with them making everyone paranoid. Lou, I am so sorry this happened to you and your family, I wish you well and wish you closure ❤❤❤ thank you for sharing this advice. The most important thing is that you are all safe 🙏🙏🙏
I just went to the Maldives and saw a majority of travelers carrying luxury goods/wearing luxury goods. I never travel with mine because I am afraid of being targeted or just in case something this awful happens. I’m very sorry that this happened, but what you are explaining confirms that I am doing what’s right for me. Thank you for sharing as I know it was difficult for you.
It’s unfortunate that your things were stolen. Anytime you travel with luxury luggage, you’re unfortunately placing a target on your back. Not trying to state the obvious..of course it could happen to anyone, but you increase your chances by carrying branded luggage. Also, when I travel, I usually keep my jewelry in my handbag or just wear the same jewelry for the whole trip. Anything sentimental jewelry stays on my body for the entire trip. Bright side is you weren’t hurt. They are just things and things can be replaced.
I love how all these individual resellers pretend like they don’t know what they’re buying is likely stolen. They’re buying authentic bags in good condition online for a small fraction of what they’re worth. Doesn’t take a genius to figure out why that is.
Yes, But NOT grandma’s original jewelry keepsakes, no amount of money is going to replace the sentiment values from a departed loved ones I am sure. 😢 Best to leave them at a safe place back home when one is traveling! Yes, travel insurance is still a good move.
My heart break for you, especially with your grandmothers pieces being stolen. I know it's all just "material things," but it is just so much more than that. My mother was robbed two years ago, and this is just such a scary and emotional experience. So incredibly violating. Thank you for posting this informative and vulnerable video. I am thankful you are safe, but empathize that this was really hard. We like seeing this side of your life too
I am so sorry this happened to you and to anyone else experiencing this😢. Thank you for taking your time to inform us how to best safeguard ourselves & our valuables. Remain Well & Happy!
I almost got robbed by a female pick pocket on the train from Milan to the airport. I was very close to losing a small bag with all my money in it. She didn't even look like she would be a pick pocket. She was very beautiful. It's a long story. If you have very expensive things in your luggage, don't take the train to the airport. Take a Taxi and NEVER let some stranger help you with anything.
Milan railway station and underground stations are really dangerous, full of Roma ppl pickpocketing travellers and locals. Never wear luxury stuff and backpacks, keep everything under control.
Happened to us in Rome in the way to the airport. A group of women tried to grab my cabin trolley and I grabbed it back. She said she was trying to help me and I said very loudly "no!". I told my teens to keep their bags close to them and hold tight. They got off at the next station.
Lou I am so sorry this happened to you. There are people on this earth who are here to steal joy and those who bring joy. Please continue to bring joy with your positive outlook and videos. Globally things are changing and this could have happened anywhere. As you have said just learn from your experience. Aside from your Grandmother’s belongings that can’t be replaced. Everything will come back to you multiplied because you are a genuine light ❤
Our house was broken into 16 yrs. ago. To this day it still hurts. They took some real valuable and sentimental pieces that are not replaceable. For a long time I felt just awful in my own home. It was a true invasion of privacy they even went through my under things. Hope things "look" up for you.
My goodness, such sad news! 😰 I was robbed too: I shipped my DIOR to a consignment shop for resale via FEDEX and the box arrived empty! EMPTY!!! It was stolen. Makes you wonder when even reputable shipping services aren't safe anymore. I'm so sad this was so close to your wedding. 😕 Stay strong and pls don't blame yourself--you work hard and life will continue to bless you with great things! 🥰🥰
That happened to my sister. She sold a vintage Diana Chanel to The Real Real and it disappeared. They still paid her, but it was obviously stolen on the way to their warehouse.
I HATE FEDEX. The amount of times that my packages have been tampered with is insane. I just had 2/3 pieces of a recent Lululemon order stolen and then they resealed it. Like ??? Just keep everything at that point.
FedEx is full of thieves. I have them on my run ring taking a photo of my package and then running off with it! I’ve also received extremely tampered or clearly resealed items from them. I hate FedEx with a burning passion. Never had an issue with UPS though
@@kirsten_305Wow, I can't believe this is our norm now-. So sad. So happy they made good w/your sister! My bag was on it's way to REBAG. I hope they credit me for my loss. 🙁 According to their SA, this is happening a lot lately here in NYC. Looks like shipping luxury items is no longer safe anymore, super sad times.
@@CynthiaRuiz-pd8sg Seriously! According to my SA, FEDEX is outsourcing the delivery to non-vetted 3rd parties who are opening small packages or even larger ones to remove items they think will go unnoticed. It's crazy times. I'm now only using UPS, domestically & DHL international.
It almost made me want to cry at one point listening, especially the jewelry from your grandmother, I’m so sorry this ordeal happened to you and your family. I realized how special it is to feel safe in your daily life, I live in Canada and I never worry about being pickpocketed or robbed or mugged. I can carry my phone in my hand without worrying, when I went to Educador I was advised against doing so, for instance. I was born in Costa Rica so I know I could’ve easily grown up in a different reality. I also have been to Spain a few times now and I love it, I would move there and I do feel very safe, but you’re right, there’s always opportunity to be cautious and aware. I’m just very glad you continued your trip with your family and you enjoyed it, I think returning home may have made you feel more empty and hollow indeed. I’m glad you are feeling better and hopefully it’s something that can be put in the past soon. You are immensely fortunate, you have so much beauty around you, and in you, you had a dream wedding and now time to plan a honeymoon! Later on, you are also able to buy a home in the countryside like you wanted. All very exciting things ☺️ 🧡
I’m so sorry to hear this happened to you all. The most important thing is that you all made it home safely. And I completely understand the feelings of extreme anxiety, and I know it’s easier said than done, but just be kind to yourself and take things day-by-day. After a while things will start to feel okay. Wishing you all the best.
I’m so sorry this happened to you..I will keep your heart in my prayers. To be victimized is something no one should ever experience. I am glad you and your husband are safe. The sentimental pieces I can imagine are the hardest to lose, but don’t forget your grandma imparted the best thing..herself! She will always be apart of you🤍 I do hope that justice comes to the victims and that those crimes will start to be less frequent.🙏🏽
I live in Portugal, I travel a lot in Europe and I don’t understand why people think Europe is a safe place. There is no safe places anymore. Unfortunately this is a “new reality” from a few years ago. Glad you are ok Lou. ❤
If the gypsies in Italy keep this up, the tourism will go down and that's when the government will intervene and crack down. It's sad it will take an economic hit for the people who can make a difference to finally step up. I caught three of them on the subway unzip my purse while I was running to make it in and I was aware of my surroundings, but sadly, many don't know.
I'm so sorry this happened. My mom was robbed in Paris, well pickpocketed. You can't blame yourself. I wish I knew who that seller is. Yes, you'd think, as you said, if someone tries to sell me a classic flap for $3k, I'm going to either think it's a fake or stolen.
I'm so sorry this happened to you. Tamara Kalinic who is a TH-cam and lives in Italy this happened to her while traveling on the train in Italy not so long ago and she constantly traveling all over the world. She to blamed herself and then realized it wasn't her fault. We tend to do this a lot because we think we could prevented the situation but in reality we have no control. These thieve are professional who are constantly seeking out their victims. Don't blame yourself. I know its hard and your heartbroken but like you said all of you are safe and that what matter. You will see that what you lost you will gain back. Believe!!! Sending you a big hug ! 💗😘
She gets robbed so often. This biggest robbery was in her Paris apartment. Personally I think she posts WAY too much! We don’t need apartment tours or hotel tours etc. she needs to keep certain things private.
@@lily_doesstuff i wanted to also come here and say this. Being now on the same situation that Tamara was in, it’s heartbreaking to be blamed or to hear people say that I deserve it, that’s what I get for travelling with things, or for any reason. Blaming the person who got robbed instead of the person that committed the crime is so so sad, and horrible to receive as comments. Tamara did absolutely nothing to deserve what happened to her, and her job is also not the problem. The issue is the crime that was committed.
If they are in the Philippines at least they are going to feed an entire family for a year just with one bag. 😅 anyways, how do you know is in the Philippines? She was in italy.
@@SwanTheQueenI wish that was the case but I highly doubt that scenario. Most of these resellers are already rich and I doubt if a lot of them even do charity works if that is how they source their luxury items.
I'm so sorry about this! On the other hand, I am SO relieved you, Polo, and your in-laws are safe and sound! This is what matters! Yesterday, it was one year since my teen son, my elderly dad, and I were robbed in front of our home. The guy beat us hard, my dad got 2 vertebrae broken, and I was also really hurt in my back and head. The guy was on drugs and so strong. It was really frustrating that the three of us got beaten by a single guy, which made me guilty and very angry angry. Afterward, we prayed and thanked God we were alive. But I am not fully recovered, even 1 year later... It felt like he also stole our inner piece and the safety our home represents... Sorry for sharing such a bad experience, but I just want to point out that it could have been way worse for me and my beloved ones. I wish you and your husband all the best! Love from Brazil xoxo
This is so sad, stealing is very wrong because while it may just be material things, it really messes w/ people’s sense of security & safety. Some things also have sentimental value and can’t be replaced 💔
So sorry what happened. This happens so much to people and although sad, you learn from it and count your blessings. You are safe & alive. Things can get replaced & we move on. You are helping others by sharing your situation. Love your travel safety tips. I’m so very impressed by your positivity. It is remarkable. Your outlook on life is amazing. I wish you all the best. XO
So sorry Lou this happened to you. Thank you for sharing these great tips. As you say, it has nothing to do with you. I got robbed so many times in Paris as a student wearing an Eastpack bag and a nokia phone. Nothing fancy… and at least never really felt I did something wrong to deserve this at that point in my life, comparing to now having valuable luxury items. I learned the hard way in Paris in crowded places to never answer my phone ( put it onto silence mode), turn my ring upside down, keep my bag close and in front of me, separating keys from id/address documents (not both in my handbag) to not get my apartment robbed while reporting to the police station, … that’s what living in this big city taught me as a poor student.
I'm so sorry it happened to you. But as you said, the most important is that you're safe. My house got broken in 10 years ago and I'm still mad about the family jewelry that I lost and cannot replace, but I also have always remembered that these were just things, and my safety was the most important thing. I hope you'll be able to get over that trauma really soon.
Hey Lou. I have been a fan of yours for a while. Im a silent fan so i dont normally comment i like to sit down with my tea and watch your videos. That is what i am doing right now :). I just want to say that i am so sorry this happened to you, and that I am sending all the love and positive vibes that I can your way. I hope that even if this video gave you anxiety, that maybe it helped to get everything off your chest. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful life with your viewers. I know that even now, you may still be experiencing negative outcomes of this event. I am praying for your health, safety, and strength. Take care ♡
Wow, everyone! 😱😢😔 I respect you soo much for talking about this and helping someone out with your experience and tips. No one deserves to have this happen. I’m just grateful you’re okay! I really hate this happened to you. I’m off to Italy in August for my sisters wedding and most of the family will be on the train from the States to Rome-Florence- Milan and Switzerland. I told them all about this and to be very mindful of their luggage.
hey Lou! so happy to hear you are safe first and foremost ❤ thanks for being vulnerable and sharing your experience with us. one thing you may want to consider- please make sure you back up your digital records of your bags, both locally on an external harddrive and in the cloud as well! that way if you lose your laptop, you have a backup waiting for you at home, and you have something you can access on via the internet anywhere you are. sending lots of love from NYC!
I’m so sorry that it happened to you Lou. As long as you, Polo, and your family are safe and sound 💕 Also, make sure to pay attention to your surroundings when checking into a hotel. You never know who’s nearby, listening in and hear your hotel room number and then they will pretend that your room is theirs, get a key and go into your room when you’re not there.
Thank you for sharing Lou! I’ve been following you for some time and it makes me sad that this happened to you. Stealing is a terrible crime and I can imagine how violated you feel. You are 100% allowed to be happy about your wedding AND be upset about what happened to you at the same time. That is your right 🤍 Keep your head up Lou!
Whenever you can share what happened please, it would be very helpful for a lot of us to learn how to avoid this kind of situation because I know Italy is getting way to dangerous
I went through a an apartment trespassing last year and it was traumatic because so many things were broken and we were burglarized and physically attacked, but we fought back and what was trying to be stolen didnt and we walked away with our lives, which was also a blessing. But i can totally relate on so much of what you said because i left the caribbean for safety to the US to feel safe but in the US all this bad stuff happened and its hard to relearn how to feel safe, and i also suffered anxiety as a teen so to go back to zero and learn how to basically fight fear and feel safe is a battle. I understand this so well. That really resonated. Im sorry about this event for you, and literally feel that despite all the evil and cynicism you experience in the world, every single thing is a lesson and i think to everyone in life, we all come to a point where we either are pushed to the ground or we decide to stand up again despite the fear. You, my friend, are a very lovely and strong person and im so happy that you and your family were unharmed physically and are deciding to move forward. One day at a time is the key. Sending positive energy your way ❤
I am so incredibly sorry this happened to you! I’m just so relieved you and Polo weren’t hurt!! 💙 You are such a wonderful person and I’m so sorry again this happened!
I am so sorry for you and that It happened in Italy! About 10 yrs ago we got robbed in our flat, fortunately It was during the morning so we all were out. They got my only two designer bags, a LV Palermo and a Dolce&Gabbana hobo, luckily they could not find my jewelry. Our bedroom was a mess! In this case not only you loose your items but you are violated so deeply. I had used the bags not often and that was also my regret, I did not enjoyed them as I could have. At the end I learnt that they are just items that can be replaced (since then I approched the second hand market 😊) and that you have to enjoy everything you love. The most important thing Is that you had your dream wedding and have a life to enjoy every moment together !! 💗🌈
This is honestly traumatizing. I actually live in the Philippines and i can honestly say that even in a country that is very "hospitalable" there will always be people that prioritize money first. I know the feeling of losing an heirloom or gifted by your grandparents. Because i have those too. And it really linger. But thankful you are all safe. Take this time to heal from these lose and think of the brighter side . God Bless
Insurance here in the US is exactly what you are describing, they will find a thousand reasons why not to pay for your losses but quick to take your monthly payment 😅
My husband and I were robbed on the train going to Florence from Rome. We put our bags up containing macbook and ipad and more onto the overhead and it was a mistake and even rode business class. My husband took a nap while I was on my phone and during that time, our bag was switched with another black bag containing absolutely nothing. The police couldn't do anything since it happens everyday. Please be vigilant in Italy, they are professionals!
So sorry you went through this! My phone was snatched out of my hand from a guy on a bike while I was in London with my mom and it was traumatic, I can only imagine being robbed. The best thing is you are safe and like you said, those are only things. Hope you feel better soon!❤
Oh man.... I'm so sorry you went through this. Heart breaking hearing you talk about how you are dealing with everything including the anxiety. You seem to be handling this with a lot of humility and gratitude. Big hugs to you and your hubby. 💗
I'm so so sorry, Lou. I will NEVER justify theft & I'm so mad this happened to you, but I hope these losses SAVED someone's life. Thank you for this video, I definitely learned a lot. xo
I’m so sorry this happened to you. I can hear the emotional impact it had in your voice. I was robbed at knife point in Marbella in 2016. 2 guys on a motorcycle stopped put a knife to my throat and stole my Daytona. This experience hurt me similarly to you as I grew up in LA, always being told to be extremely careful of my surroundings etc. It’s okay to feel what you’re feeling. I’m really glad you’re able to see the positive now and thank you for sharing this.
So sorry you had to go through this. I think it's good that you can talk it through on your channel. I don't care if your bag was $50 or $5000, its still YOURS and for someone to take your stuff is a violation. Period! Don't stop living. I'm looking forward to the next part of your journey and see what you unbox in the future. Stay true to yourself. ❤
I’m sorry, lovely Lou. This is a violation & it feels terrible. I’m glad you are all safe & well. I understand the pain about your grandma’s pieces. A family member in a desperate situation secretly pawned my grandmother’s jewelry that was all going to be for me, pieces I loved to play with in her jewelry box as a little girl. Your grandmother is always in your heart.
Im so sorry to hear that happened to you 🥺 I know very well how you feel, at the end of the day it’s the memories behind them more than the item itself
Can you please tell exactly how this happened? I’m still not clear. May I add something else for people. Do not ever let someone working on your property park behind you and block you in. So that they know when you leave the house. I had very expensive jewelry stolen that way from my bedroom. And one of the things was a charm bracelet where I had had every charm cast from gold from my late mother’s handed down rings that I wouldn’t wear. I had all the molds made myself. I didn’t know it was gone until I went to wear it. And didn’t figure out when it was stolen for quite a while.
Very proud of the way you filmed this very scary/intense/horrible situation and all the things that follow. Brava! Continue to be gentle with yourself. Other YTbers have also talked about not wanting to replace certain items. Also, thank you for your tips. Having things backed up on your computer and cloud/separate hard drive is important also for life emergencies. I really appreciate the tip of taking the picture with your id. Blessings for peace for your spirit and heart.
i'm so sorry this happened to you.. especially the after effects with it re-triggering you and all the hard work you made to feel calm and safe. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your hubby. It was very courageous and brave of you to talk about and bring awareness around being robbed. I truly am proud of you for how you are handling this by seeing the positives and learning experience from this. You are not alone, we are all here for you. All the best xx
I’m so sorry this happened😢 specially loosing your grandma’s jewelry must have been really hard. Thanks for sharing this video, Tuscany is one of my favorite places in the entire world and your tips are very helpful. We all know these things can happen to anyone anywhere but we never expect them to hapen to us or someone we know. I’m glad you and your family are safe.
My husband got robbed in Barcelona and I got robbed on the metro in Paris last spring. We are always on the watch but it happens so fast and they usually work as a team. A gold necklace with a crucifix and Italian charms were ripped off his neck. The necklace was his grandmothers she brought with her to America from Sicily when she immigrated. I am coming again to Barcelona in October but will leave all my valuables and nice handbags at home. Sad.
I was lucky last summer for not being robbed. I noticed that I can't wear luxury items anymore on a trip to Europe as funny as it sounds I feel safer in the Caribbean than in Rome, Barcelona or Madrid.
Im so so sorry this happens to you 😢. I was robbed by 8 guys on motor bikes. They stole my Louis Vuitton off my shoulder snapping the straps. This happened in Malaysia. I lost everything including our passports, meds, money, cards and all my possessions. I was left totally ruined on the first day of my 3 month trip. It ruined me because my 2 kids were sick in hospital the second we got off the plane. I’ll never ever forget it. I learnt not to take designer bags overseas and make sure I put money in my socks and wearing closed toe shoes. It’s better to wear boots or sneakers while Traveling
Sending you big hugs Lou for sharing and your advice/precautions❤its an important reminder that robberies are unfortunately common and very organized. Its happening if you are at wrong time/wrong place…nothing to blame youself in any way. Stay in a positive mindset like you said you are alive, loved and in health☀️🫶🏼🤗🍾🥂
This video is understandably going to gain viewers that don't usually watch your videos, Lou. You're being amazingly patient in your answers. Please don't feel pressured to share more, and stick to your decision on not discussing the subject any further. Your regular viewers support you ❤
I felt devastated at the beginning of your story. I can’t imagine how you felt. But then, like you said yourself, these are materials things. Your health and safety are the most important. Congratulations on the wedding 💒 and I hope that you can find solace that things can be replaced. Your life cannot ❤ sending you love and light ✨
I agree that most of us want to see positivity on YT - but at the same time, it's important to share partly because it may help others, partly because there's an outside chance it might just help get some of your things back, and partly because talking about it, is always better than keeping it bottled in. I'm so sorry that you inherited pieces were taken and that it happened to the whole family. I can totally understand that you feel violated. Have you considered talking to a professional about this. It's definitely about being aware rather than scared. You are strong, you will get through this, sharing is a positive thing for your mental health. Sending you all the virtual hugs! ❤️
I am so sorry that this happened to you, but this is honestly such an insightful and fulfilling video to hear about the precautions to take! Bless you with an even better collection that what was lost. All the best!
Thank you for sharing and dissecting your emotions. Being a Filipino it saddens me Philippines is somewhat involved. I just came back from Barcelona, Lourdes and Paris and my anxiety was to the roof, I tried traveling light with family of 3 only with 1check in and 1carry on just so we’re not handling so much in the train, etc. Robbers in EU dont even hide it anymore , they normally have no luggages or bags with them but they’re at a train station or airport. Im so sorry this happened to you. I wish you find peace ❤😢
I’m so happy that you all are okay and that you’re handling this the best way possible, Lou. I wish there was a website where you could post stolen luxury goods. That way buyers, resellers, and owners can have a central place to look. This will at least give thieves an obstacle. Ugh I hate that this happened to you, so sorry. Thank you for giving us tips 💛
I’m so sorry this happened 😢 I know what you mean about how precious it is to feel safe. I grew up in Texas and we had to always watch our back even in high end areas. I have been living in Arizona for years now and it has been such a relief to live in a place with a very low crime rate and feeling safe. We are going to Paris this year so I’m feeling a bit of anxiety since the crime rate has increased dramatically there. Luckily my husband is South African so he is very experienced with avoiding pickpockets, muggers, etc.
So sorry to hear about this awful experience! Thank you for sharing your story and for ur mindful tips. It’s def a good reminder for us all, esp during these summer holiday months!! I hope u continue to heal and move forward as a stronger person from this!! ❤️
Great tips. Esp not letting ppl help you. I also never pack lux items in checked luggage. Sadly, this happened when I moved into my newly build house too...the movers kept several small valuable items in their truck and never unloaded them. It included expensive luggage, personal docs like birth certs and kitchen wear. By the time we realized the items wasn't just misplaced in the house it was far too late.
Thank you so much!! 🥹 I would not say it’s bravery but more trying to make the best out of the circumstances and take the lesson. I had a lot of support around me which did help me a lot 🤍
Lou, I am so sorry for everything that have happened to you. Do not know the exact circumstances, but to anyone who is reading this - there are a lot of cases of car break-ins, especially in Italy, but also in the south of France. People rent a car, park it on the side of the road (in a neighborhood that seems safe), go to a restaurant or somewhere else, for not a long period of time, and when they are back the door or the truck is open (even without window breaking) and their belongings are missing. My friend got stolen a pair of Nike sneakers (his luggage got open and they took some stuff out), so they steal not only luxury goods!
Thank you for this! And yes, even inside a parking lot. Just never leave any belongings inside a car. Car break ins and grab and run on the streets seem to be the most common
I am soo sorry this happened to you and Polo. However, making a list of your items is the first step. I’m very happy you and Polo were safe. I hope you recover your bags. ❤
I confirm, I just got robbed all my luggage from our car in Tuscany last week. It happened in less than 2 hours away from the car. Thankfully I managed to locate my MacBook later that day and I went there with the carabinieri : we got all our luggage back except for a luxury pair of shoes they didn't return. They claimed they found the luggage in the street... (no comment).
This is something I worry about when travelling but always hope that it will never happen. Without knowing when they were taken it makes me more vigilant at every stage I’m handling my luggage. Thanks for sharing, you handled this with such grace. 💕
Lou, I’m so sorry for your loss-especially the jewelry from your grandmother. I would be devastated if I lost mine. Take all the time you need to feel your feelings. Sending love 💕 -Kat
Sorry this happened to you. The world changed a lot, everybody needs to be careful wherever we are. I hope that you’ll feel better and be able to move on from this experience. Support from family is very essential at this moment in your life. We sometimes say that things are just things we can always replace them but not when they have sentimental values that no amount could ever replaced. Sending you virtual hug❤🤗 and leaving the old saying “when you lost some for sure you’ll gain some”.
It is awful that this happened to you. I pray that you regain your confidence in traveling. Thank you for sharing. I also pray that what was stolen will come back to you 10 Fold. Please continue to share and stay safe. Congratulations on your nuptials.
This is so heartbreaking. I am so so sorry this happened to you. To me - material items hold real loving memories like where I purchased them or where I wore them and what was going on in my life at that time so I really truly feel for you. I know it is not the same, but I lost (in a move) a necklace my grandmother passed down to me. This was around 6 years ago and it still weighs on me daily. I am so sorry and hope you somehow get the items back 🤍
Oh Lou, Im so sorry to hear this happened to you guys😔 Just heartbreaking... I can totally relate to this...as our family was in Portugal in July. We are 5 total...my husband, mysepf and our 3 teeanage daughters. We were also robbed! They took everything. My girls and I were left with just the clothes on our backs...such a mess. AND it happened in the middle of the day...on a busy street no less! We also didnt recieve any help from insurance😭 I hope something good comes out of the ongoing investigation. Good luck!!
My heart is broken for your lost grandmother’s treasures, everything else you can buy it at one point or another. I am glad that you and your family are safe. God will bless you tenfold!! Being positive is a good thing. Sending lots of love and hugs❤❤❤
I am sorry that happened to you. Thankfully everyone is safe. The tips you gave were very helpful. You are helping me to heal from some situations too. Take care and bless you.
Thanks so much for telling your story. I would also recommend emailing yourself a copy of the document on your computer and printing a few too that you keep in your safe and/or give to someone you trust.
You certainly did not deserve this, but huge lesson in proper travel protocol. It’s insanely silly to travel with these types of goods and in this quantity. Less is more when it comes to flying under the radar, pun intended. Thankfully you are all safe. Continued blessings.
I also got robbed recently they stole almost all my Hermes bags, all my jewelry and my Rolex. It was horrible and I'm sorry. I claimed it under my insurance and I refused to try and find my items because it would make me go crazy and I wouldn't stop thinking about it.
You are so brave to share this - in the end it sounds like you have come such a long way in your own journey dealing with this devastating situation - we are all sending you love and prayers ❤
I am really, really sorry this happened to you!😭So sad because you lost your grandmother's inheritance jewellery! Thankfully you and your husband Polo are well.♥
Hi Lou, I’ve been following you for a while now and I was so sad to hear this happened to you. Thank you for being brave enough to share your experience and tips. Take care ❤
Never show too much of your background. You home, your street esc.
Very helpful!!!
Good, solid advice.
In the end, the most important thing is that you all returned home safe and sound. ❤️
Love you so much 🥺
It BETTER NOT BE MILAN!!!! That’s where I got robbed.
*Heads back to video*
I have got robbed in Rome !!!
I have gotten robbed in New York. Just saying
@@JesuisLou why is there no intro to this video? With the song
Being robbed feels like such a personal violation! I’m so sorry this happened to you. There are so many horrible people out there, and yet there are so many good and kind people as well. It is hard to focus on that when this happens! Yes, you are truly blessed in life!
It is. You work to have nice things and this is what THEY do for a living. Stealing from you!
That's pretry much a thought about the famous "Don't worry, be happy and "Keep calm, and carry on"❤
Sometimes people have trauma that is buried and it gets triggered by a bad event.
This is not the person's choice if it gets reactivated.
@@NikkoleNikkolas Glad to see you got my point! 💖
Buying a chain from Amazon right now
This is SO SMART!! I’m buying a chain right now too hahahaha
The weakest point is the lock. Virtually any lock can be picked. The mafia trains people to do these kinds of targeted crimes on tourist groups.
I'm confident that you will get your grandmothers jewellery back. The pieces are unique. Wishing this for you ❤
Firstly, I am so sad to hear about your losses; secondly, it's refreshing to see you working through all the emotions associated with this terrible violation, and lastly, you are a dear for your willingness to use your situation to help others. Rosey ❤
Many hugs to you, Polo and your family. Being robbed is an emotional, scary ordeal, let alone grieving the loss of your most precious hand me downs from your Grandmother 😢 I'm glad you're both safe. ❤️ ❤
Thank you 🥺🤍
You should be very proud of your emotional regulation, I’m taking tips from your handling of this; but I do hope that you may be able to recover some of what you have lost, especially your Grandmother’s pieces 💕
You are so kind 🥹 thank you
So sorry this happened to you Lou😢I can't imagine how heartbreaking it would have been.. but really glad you are home safe.
The Maldives is the last place I take luxury goods. For what? I want to enjoy the beaches, wellness and food and not show off bags. It’s ridiculous
@@simonecomtesse2772getting luxury bag isn’t always for showing off, what kind of mentality is this ?😅
It’s unfortunate that your things were stolen.
@@sakuraxworld4566 that's exactly why people buy them
@@654ujalaI don’t even bring sentimental jewelry. I have a ring I wear specifically for traveling instead of my wedding ring.
I love how all these individual resellers pretend like they don’t know what they’re buying is likely stolen. They’re buying authentic bags in good condition online for a small fraction of what they’re worth. Doesn’t take a genius to figure out why that is.
Totally. Very infuriating.
Use American Express travel insurance. They’ll cover everything. They are excellent!
Yes, But NOT grandma’s original jewelry keepsakes, no amount of money is going to replace the sentiment values from a departed loved ones I am sure. 😢 Best to leave them at a safe place back home when one is traveling! Yes, travel insurance is still a good move.
Is it only for US residents?
My heart break for you, especially with your grandmothers pieces being stolen. I know it's all just "material things," but it is just so much more than that. My mother was robbed two years ago, and this is just such a scary and emotional experience. So incredibly violating. Thank you for posting this informative and vulnerable video. I am thankful you are safe, but empathize that this was really hard. We like seeing this side of your life too
I am so sorry this happened to you and to anyone else experiencing this😢. Thank you for taking your time to inform us how to best safeguard ourselves & our valuables.

The same thing happened to my mom! Almost got robbed by a female pick pocket on the metro in Milan who wore designer clothes..
@@RosaSukkerspinn9 likely stolen designer clothes, think about it
@@seabreeze4559 most probably fake
Im so sorry this happened to you also! I pray things look up for you too
I went through the same years ago. I still fell violated! I know first world problems but, I think most people woluld fell the same :(

I live in Portugal, I travel a lot in Europe and I don’t understand why people think Europe is a safe place. There is no safe places anymore. Unfortunately this is a “new reality” from a few years ago. Glad you are ok Lou. ❤
Because Europe markets itself that way to the outside world.

It’s worse now -
I'm so sorry this happened. My mom was robbed in Paris, well pickpocketed. You can't blame yourself.

Tamara Kalinic who is a TH-cam and lives in Italy this happened to her while traveling on the train in Italy not so long ago and she constantly traveling all over the world.

Oh you have NO idea how much love and light I am sending your way beautiful … no one deserves this, but the last person is you. You are so strong!
Sending positive energy your way ❤
This is so heartbreaking 🤍 Im sending so much love your way Lou!
God Bless
I’ve watched you for years, and I know how much you cherished your grandmother jewelry! I’m so sorry 😞
Insurance here in the US is exactly what you are describing, they will find a thousand reasons why not to pay for your losses but quick to take your monthly payment 😅
So sorry that happened. I recommend adding an Air Tag (or something similar) hidden somewhere in your luggage too.
We are putting them in our suitcases and purses.
OMG
Exactly, she doesn’t explain exactly how this happened?!
@@angiemaker likely still police investigation that is on going,, sounds like a ring of thieves.
I guess they left the luggage in their parked car, even for a short moment, which was then broken into. Would be quite common in Italy.
Sad.
People are ripping jewelry off of necks now?!
@@nickyodujirin they take watches too
@@nickyodujirin no repercussions for crime anymore.....
I was lucky last summer for not being robbed. I noticed that I can't wear luxury items anymore on a trip to Europe as funny as it sounds I feel safer in the Caribbean than in Rome, Barcelona or Madrid.
@@cristinac001 Why does that sound funny.
Your regular viewers support you ❤
So glad you’re ok. Sending positive energy your way! Thank you for sharing and so glad you have a good perspective. ❤️
By the time we realized the items wasn't just misplaced in the house it was far too late.
ur soo brave. that's why i love You and Tamara... strong and brave. i have always love your content. Luxury or not... i pray you keep thriving ❤❤❤
This very prevalent in the states as well NYC, San Francisco, Chicago, All of Florida, and most major tourist cities and in nice neighborhoods.
I am soo sorry this happened to you and Polo. However, making a list of your items is the first step. I’m very happy you and Polo were safe. I hope you recover your bags. ❤
@@millennialx9044And here in Hawaii. Thieves are everywhere, unfortunately.
Sending love 💕

It is very kind of you to share this terrible experience so that others can learn from it. Wishing you peace and happiness with your new husband.
Sorry this happened to you. The world changed a lot, everybody needs to be careful wherever we are.
I hope that you’ll feel better and be able to move on from this experience.
Support from family is very essential at this moment in your life.
We sometimes say that things are just things we can always replace them but not when they have sentimental values that
no amount could ever replaced.
So sorry this happened to you! It’s especially heartbreaking that your Grandmother’s pieces were stolen. Glad that everyone is ok ❤️
I can’t believe the store refused to help 😡 My heart aches, specially your grandma’s jewelry 😔 I’ve heard so many robbery stories in Rome.
I am so sorry and hope you somehow get the items back 🤍
Oh Lou, Im so sorry to hear this happened to you guys😔
Just heartbreaking...
We also didnt recieve any help from insurance😭
I hope something good comes out of the ongoing investigation.
Thank you for taking the time to share and the tips are useful. Hope you find and get the flaps back and may justice prevail! Take care❤.
Thankfully you and your husband Polo are well.♥
I’m sorry this happened near your wedding and I hope it doesn’t tarnish the memories going forward. ❤
Hi Lou, I’ve been following you for a while now and I was so sad to hear this happened to you. Thank you for being brave enough to share your experience and tips. Take care ❤
Sorry to hear this happened 😢 that's why I never bring too many items with me on holidays. Just one bag which would be with me all the time xx
