    Troy has had the biggest impact on re-educating bow hunters about their arrows, broadheads and fletching. Wether one changes their set up to a heavier FOC arrow and cut on contact broadhead or not archers are revisiting their setup which is a good thing for archery hunting.

    @RanchFairy is one of the best people out there. I emailed him about setting up heavy arrows for a pig hunt last fall and Troy emailed back and forth with me until I had my whole set up dialed. The guy is a class act, super smart, and willing to help anyone who wants it. Led to my second-best archery buck ever, too.

      What are the general ethics here? I don't have any experience hunting and curious to know. Does these hogs being considered a non native animal have any bearing at all?

    • @sticksstrings9792
      @sticksstrings9792 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KS-yc8di not in my book. They are living, breathing smart animals that deserve as much respect as a deer. I only shoot boars, no female sows and the boar must have visible tusk to show maturity. Now in Texas guys are all about horn and last I checked, pigs don't grow any.

    Hi Janis, I have one question: Why did you shoot the female hog with her young? The young hogs are still depending on her. I am a hunter myself and in my country it is forbidden by law and a criminal offense to kill a mother-animal as long as their young depend on their mother. It is not only unethical since they are not being fed by other hogs and probably are going to die.

    Here in Louisiana and hunting public land there is plenty of opportunity to still hunt with a bow for hogs. I’ve killed a lot of them sitting on the ground next to a drain and just waiting them out in late evening. They are creatures of habit and have preferred hog wallows or swampy areas. Making a good shot is a must because of the thick underbrush. You really hone your tracking skills as blood trails are sometimes skimpy even with a good shot. I have practically nearly stepped on some before seeing them.

    I just can not believe, that somewhere on Earth, there is a place where you can stalk up on a pig at 15 yds in the open and get a shot in the daylight...
    Here, in the center of Europe, hogs are active mainly at night...
    From time to time, or in unvisited places, they can be active during day time...
    But still, I would bet that you would not stalk up on it that close...

    These are some of the best broad heads ever. Heavy grain higher FOC arrows are the answer. Even with a 50lb bow they are devastating because of the extra mass in flight. Won't shoot anything under 500 grains total.

    is there places in Texas that would let you hunt pigs for free as long as you take them off the land? And don't all the rattlesnakes have some affect on especially the little baby pigs. I know they are too big for the rattlers to eat but I imagine the rattlers must bite a lot of pigs yearly.
