- In today’s video, we visit Universal Studios Orlando FIRST thing in the morning and LATE at night to compare these two times of the day. We tell people all the time to come early and stay late because the crowds, and weather, are better during those hours. So we took our own advice! We visited Islands of Adventure during early park admission and then came back a few hours before the park closed to show you all how amazing the first hour and last hour can be at Islands of Adventure 2023. We just spent the last 9 days at Universal with our kids. This was our first trip back since my youngest daughters Make A Wish trip and they treated her just as amazing as they did then. I love the people who make Universal everything it is!

Oh jeez, you guys…I just watched your “about us” video and now I’m bawling my eyes out at 9am. I was feeling all upset and angry because my 8 year old’s “friends” won’t play with her anymore and I don’t feel like she deserves that sort of behavior directed towards her. She’s very shy and has been through a lot this year, and no one wants to see someone they love so much, so upset and crying (especially on their last day of 3rd grade).
Your video helped to ground me again, to see that you never know what life is going to throw at you and that you should celebrate and see the beauty in just living.
I really hope to see you guys in the parks one day soon!

Get a $2 poncho from Wal Mart and keep it in your backpack. As Tyler said "it rains a lot" I used the "rain maneuver" at Animal Kingdom and got on all the Pandora rides and Dinosaur ride with my nephews! It was super easy. Barely an inconvenience.
Dollar general has them for one dollar each

Yeah we just haven’t bought any in a while, but the ponchos turn into a little steamer for the camera lol. Our situation is different than most people, though!
As someone who loves the rain, I actually like it when I’m in a theme park. Everyone runs and hides(cue the Beatles here) and I can stroll around with no crowds 😊

100%! Especially in the summer!
This was basically our strategy on our last trip. We would do EPA in the morning, go back to our resort in the afternoon, and then enjoy the park in the evening. It was glorious, we were in the parks when it was less crowded, and at the resort pool when it got really hot. It rained one evening and Islands was so empty that we walked up to Mythos wothout a reservation and were sat within 10 minutes.
That’s the perfect way to do it! Especially going to the pool. The FL heat is brutal mid day!
@@ThePughTwo This was late August, so it was HOT. We stayed at Royal Pacific, which just gave us a short walk to and from the parks. I don't know if we'll ever be able to stay anywhere else!
yeah early admission is great and we avoided Hagrid's ride first thing. But first thing early opening is actually great to do the wand experience first thing because its less people as well. Loved the early time to just chill and relax to enjoy things like you said. Need to do the night time though. LOL thanks
Yes!! You’re so much more likely to get picked for it, too. You’ll have to try nighttime and let us know what your favorite is!
I love theme parks at night. Outdoor roller coasters in the dark are the absolute best. My mom and I have ponchos we bought years ago from Disney; they are thicker, have snaps down the side, and pack down well. As long as you air them out well, bringing a quality poncho is the way to go. Wear clothes and footwear that dry quickly. We like sandals, but not cheap flip flops. If you're going to go to the parks annually, quality gear is worth it.
We have the same Disney ponchos from 2013 😂
We completely agree! The $12 ponchos are way nicer than the $1 ones lol and yes!! Nighttime coasters are the best!!
Flight of the hippogriff is a fun 20 seconds. A lot of fun in a very short amount of time
Lol agreed! I think the official ride time is like 45 seconds.
We are night time people. We get in line for Hargids or Velocicoaster (before express started) at park closing and we get to walk out of the parks with no one there. It is so pretty and peaceful.
Plus…major tip….the walk out to the bus lines are gone then too! Win! Win!

I remember riding the hulk as a kid at night was always awesome. I like night. I do like going on the water rides first thing when I get to parks, so by nighttime I'm dried off.

I love how it rains then stops. We learned to just walk through most of the rain unless it’s a downpour, but they really do only last a short time. Great that you pointed that out. 💜💜💜

We’ve only been once but loved it!! We just upgraded to the three park pass, so we’ll probably do one soon!
I actually love both times for different reasons but there is something to be said about a mid day shower, a drink or butterbeer and enjoying the forbidden journey queue while it rains.
That sounds like a perfect afternoon to us, too! Especially if the parks clear out afterwards. It’s the best!

Me and my wife RUN to hagruds during EPA and have been on hagrids 1st of the day twice, if you are willing to run it's worth it! Run🏃🏃♀️

Jurassic Park River Adventure at night is my number one, that ride is very underrated at night time.

When my grandson and I go to the parks, we’re there early in the morning to open them and we stay all day until they kick us out. Lol being from Massachusetts we have to maximize our time so we stay as long as we can. I’m a early riser so I don’t mind going to the parks in the morning. Maybe if I lived there maybe go a little later in the day. Thanks for the video.

I wake up for work at 05:30 every day. Even when on vacation, I still wake up at 05:30-06:00 naturally. So I get up and get going! Assuming you're not racing to Hagrid's, I love how empty the parks are early in the morning. Riding the coasters at night is amazing, but experience the ambience in the morning is best.
We love how empty it is, too! And yes, coasters at night! We wish we were morning people so it was easier to get going early lol
We love the morning starts! I don’t need to really give you 3 paragraphs, but here is the reason why- we get up at 4am every weekday to go to work and when you’ve done that for years, it’s hard to sleep past 6am. The afternoon nap gives me the second wind to go back at night. Maybe that makes sense? Thank you guys for sharing with all of us! Love from Kentucky!

When I go to the parks, i do Tun to hagrids. But, i get in line for EPA like an hour before it starts. Hagrids is a walk on if you do that

We absolutely loved it in the parks at night. We just sat and enjoyed a frozen Butterbeer in a virtually empty HP park. Then walked down to Velocicoaster and waited for our son to finish riding the last run of the night. It was well after the park had officially closed and it was amazing!

The Pugh Two is my jam 😁😅 If you're going to go to Hagrid's during EPA you need to be one of the first ppl in line (that's what my wife & I always do). Otherwise it might not make sense. Anna, you need a Grinch apple 🍎 😂. I definitely understand the umbrella argument. My wife & I pack short sleeve golf rain jackets in our drawstring bag if there is any chance of rain. That way we don't have to buy an umbrella or poncho. I prefer the parks in the morning and night lol (go all day! 😁).
Oh 100%! If you’re not there by like an hour before epa starts, it’s not worth it lol. We’re the worst about not carrying rain gear even though we know how often it rains in FL 😂🤦🏼♀️ the amount of umbrellas in my car is crazy!

@@ThePughTwo Oh, I never knew, I usually see both of them show a wait time even when all other rides are delayed for weather, but I guess it makes sense that they close it if the weather is terrible or gets worse.
Funny video. One things for sure in Florida, you have to be flexible with your schedule. We are definitely not early park visitors. We have a two hour ride to Universal. An early day for us arriving is 11am. Usually it's between noon and 1pm.
Haha yes! You just never know what you’re gonna get with the weather. We live just down the road from Universal and we struggle to get there before 10 lol so we feel your pain!

Absolutely! It was so nice meeting you, too! That really depends if it’s raining or storming. If it’s storming, definitely go to studios. The indoor rides don’t typically close even when there’s lightening so there’s a lot more to do over there! If it’s just rain, you really just have to embrace it and keep going!

On our last trip, we left our hotel (Portofino) around 7 AM, arrived at the Islands gates at 7:20ish, entered the park around 7:50, and were off of Hagrid’s by 8:20! Granted, we went in February… and you end up waiting a lot regardless, because we were waiting for the park to open. If you’re not first in, though, I completely agree with Tyler - Hagrid’s isn’t worth it during EPA!
Haha exactly! People always think they’ve won something if they’re first in line for EPA and get right on Hagrid’s, but you’re still waiting. Just in a different location 😂 so glad you enjoyed it, though!

Islands closed early for a shareholder’s meeting! Saw the sign in front of Confisco’s while we were trying to escape the rain and an hour before it closed!
That makes sense! We didn’t go back when we saw the park hours online lol
Later in the day worked great for us. I used EPA for other things.

Haha I think the official ride time is 45 seconds, but yeah that queue gets long. They can’t run multiple trains at one time because it’s so short, so it’s gets pretty backed up!
We ALWAYS use EPA as an opportunity to enjoy HP, get pictures, and eat when it is empty. Never rope dropping Hagrid’s again, the line gets way too long!

A few years ago, we just stayed in discovery zone when it rains. It is what it is. Florida always has rain! Also, we've just accepted our date, and walked through it, lol. I have to point out, ama rhymed a lot in this video! I loved it!

I don't like the rides so much but the Bourn Stunt show was really good, I saw it twice. The only rain I had the whole week in Oct. was about an hour at Magic Kingdom. One reason I like Oct.
October is a lot better for rain! We love the Bourne stuntacular show, too. That technology is so impressive! We’re so glad you had a great trip!
As someone who is regularly at EPA, I love to sleep in as the parks look gorgeous lit up. No comparison in my book.
The nighttime lights are the best!! We love being in islands during sunset, too. It’s our happy place!
We just go to the camping section in Walmart and get a bunch of cheap ponchos. We normally always carry them when we're in the park.
We used to carry those, but they turn into a sauna for the camera 😂😂
I bought my Universal poncho 3 years ago, used for the second time 2 weeks ago! I usually start my visit around 3 to use the AP express pass. 😊

Just as a heads up, you can go to Walmart, sporting-goods section, one dollar for two clear plastic ponchos. Bought them last night for our 11 year old who went to sea world today. Still have them thankfully because he wasn’t wanting to wear them when he got wet. But one dollar for two😁😁😁
Oh yeah! We’re just talking about when you get stuck in the park and have to buy something!
We were there Saturday too. Got to Studios at opening, but as the day went on, it got extremely hot. We left around 2 and went home. Stay hydrated and take breaks!
Hydration is key!! Lol that’s why we love the refill cups, all the water and Powerade zero you could want.

One time in March when we came down for mardi gras. It was raining pretty bad I wasn't Spending $30 for 2 ponchos I asked for a trash bag and cut a hole in it and it was free you guys are a favor people on TH-cam we met you guys last year at HHN in September you guy's You guys have Are the nicest people ever

As a local, I love going to the parks after a late afternoon rainstorm. Many locals go home and come back another day. And the tourists don't understand how the Florida weather works and assume that it is going to rain the rest of the day..

When my family went to EPA we put our crocs in 4 wheel drive and ran to hagrids! We walked (ran) right on. My son rode twice in a row thanks to kids swap. The best part was sprinting through the park and we were all just giggling the whole way 😊

I'm excited to go to the Halloween Show in Oct. and it's my first time. I went last year Oct. 21 and there was no crowd, especially in the morning.

My parents started me on rope drop when I was a kid. They had to be early everywhere we went or it was called “being late for being early” Later I married a man who had the same philosophy. Rope drop everything…not just theme parks but retail stores, doctor offices, going to work and the DMV. It’s a way of life😂

I love EPA. I am a morning person though so it just works. We do usually take mid day breaks and go back at night as well but if I had to choose I’m picking EPA!!
We love the energy at EPA! It’s just soooo hard to get up that early lol
