    Where did you purchase your hats?

    • @SouthernAudacity
      @SouthernAudacity  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Walmart and Jiffy shirt online are where I get these. 🌞 I would love to be able to do the more structured and fitted hats, but I have not had success with those.

    I purchased a Durkee cap frame for my Babylock and can’t wait to use it. Just need to find the best design for myself. You made it look so easy. Do you digitize your own designs? That sweatshirt you did with human was really nice.

    • @SouthernAudacity
      @SouthernAudacity  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No I don't digitize. I buy a lot of premade fonts (Designs by JuJu are my favorite for fonts) and I just merge them to get the look I want. 🌞 Thank you 😊

    What is a "fitted hat"? Just discovered your site & love the way you simplify Embroidery!

    • @SouthernAudacity
      @SouthernAudacity  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello🌞A fitted hat does not open in the back. Many of the hats you see in places like walmart have the snaps that allow the hat to be adjusted and fitted hats are closed all the way around and are bought according to the head size.

    Great video. I saw where you said you bought the hats but do you know what kind we need? I know the store that I bought the hoop from said not the hard baseball hats.

    • @SouthernAudacity
      @SouthernAudacity  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      These are what some call 'Dad caps or Dad Hats'. They are baseball caps that have the adjustable strap in the back and are not structured as far as the cap part is concerned. It makes it easy to place on the hoop.

    Hello. Just subscribed to your channel because you are so detailed in explaining how things are done. Can you tell me which brother machine will be a good starter for beginners that have never done embroidery before like me? I heard people say pe800. How about the others like the one you are using here? I just want to do patches with vinyl and fabrics.

    • @SouthernAudacity

      Hello and THANK YOU!!! I started with a smaller 4x4 only machine that I now only use for the sewing function. I wanted a bigger hoop after about 45 days. To be honest, the PE800 is a good machine to start with, has a 5x7 hoop and will do the job you are looking to tackle and you can always build up from there. I also have the PE770 which is an earlier version of the PE800 but essentially they function the same. These machines are work horses!! The VE2200 that I have is a good machine. I wanted a machine that I could stitch onto shirts and this works for me with the 7x12 inch frame. But I am a little biased and I think that most Brother machines are good. To me, they are very user friendly and if you are used to using one Brother...it isn't hard to transition to a bigger version with the flatbed machines. The biggest thing would be what you are willing to invest when it comes to the machine you pick. I wasn't sure that I would like embroidery, but now I love it and I am just slowly working my way up size ladder because there are so many things that can be done with embroidery.

    What size needle is best to use?

    • @SouthernAudacity
      @SouthernAudacity  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It really depends on the item being stitched. For most items 75/11 will get you through. But more delicate items like silk may need to be stitched with a 70/10 and again more heavier items such as denim could be best stitched with and 80/12.
