    Consider adding the following:
    Roadside safety vest. If permissible conditions exist and you are walking along a roadway it will provide a level of additional safety. Also if you become injured in the woods and cannot move you will be more easily seen by potential ground pounding rescuers.
    Contractor grade trash bags. Too many uses to even type out. In the weight vs. value range these are pure gold.
    On a tactical note. Your kit is well thought out but a tad on the heavy side. Not an issue if you train to haul the weight over long distances. Also, remember GPS devices are great tools for finding your way BUT they are also great devices to locate you whether you want to be found or not.

    This is obviously the kit of someone who has put in the miles, it's refreshing for me to see someone who acknowledges they might have to leave their vehicle and makes a hikers type kit from the off. My kit is similar but I'm older so it's less tech heavy, if you're an officer you'll want to stay away from map and compass anyway!!! Joking aside, the only possible improvement I could suggest is possibly replacing the plastic bottles that you have in your wash kit with the clear plastic ones that you take on commercial flights. Do you need the whole bottle of XYZ? Most commercial products are a quarter to a third empty when you buy them, they're rarely full to the top you can cut back on the bulk. Surgical spirit or as you call it rubbing alcohol in a clear plastic spray bottle has literally a hundred uses too. Help start a fire, disinfect canteen lids, disinfect cuts, toughen skin up in blister areas. It doesn't smell like food (to a bear) unlike some disinfectant ointments if you are in bear country, A short term bug juice. Aaaand so on.

      When I started to get more indepth with the bag I looked toward the people that do it everyday and live out of their bags, AT, AZT, PCt ect. I learned alot of valuable lessons from them. Also Land Nav is no issue for me Im an NCO lol
      Alcohol would be a good addition!
      I'm always looking to improve.

    I gotta recommend some gorilla tape and 91% isopropyl alcohol for your feet if trekking a long distance and/or with a heavy ruck/load. Even with good broken in boots it'll add up, I've had better luck personally with the tape than any mole skin or similar product and the alcohol (im addition to medical uses) is really good for drying out your feet on the move and before swapping socks for bed, and it doesn't accumulate a powder goo over time in your shoes/socks either.

    I’m wracking my brain and there really isn’t anything I can think of to add that would be worth the weight. A suppressed compact .22 pistol would be handy but 3 guns is a little overkill. I keep my M&P Compact .22 with suppressor in my GHB kit to supplement my EDC but I also don’t keep a long gun due to my area. I’m only 23 miles from work through city/suburb so I believe a long gun would be more of a hassle than it’s worth. The little .22 pistol package with 3 loaded mags weighs nothing. I’m betting on speed over firepower so I keep it light. But I did have a long gun secured in the car over “the summer of love” just in case things got sporty.

    I really enjoy your videos and I've been a fairly long time subscriber. What I don't get is the 10,000 or more BOB videos on TH-cam. Where is everyone bugging out to? I live in a suburban area east of Denver. My community is over 2000 homes. And that's one of at least a dozen within a couple of miles. You wouldn't want to bug out headed west. Going further east? Where? to the plains? We already know that in a SHTF scenario I70 would be blocked on the east and west sides of the Denver metro area. I25 will be blocked north and south of what is referred to as the Front Range. I just see BOBs being not very practical unless you need to bug out to a public school building 1/4 mile from your house and taking some short term necessities. Most people in these communities are families. These bags become a hobby, nothing more.
    I work in construction and around here a get home bag is way more practical since you could be working east or west, north or south and could be looking at a trip home of 15, 25, 40 miles, trying to avoid crossing through the city and avoiding other suburban areas. Just my opinion.

    • @PreparedAirman
      @PreparedAirman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some people get more into as a hobby some have legitimate reasons. I view it as "at least people are getting prepared " regardless of what motivates them. Personally my family has a bug out community that we will move to incase of major issues say fire or before it gets too dangerous to live in cities. We have a predetermined location with assets pre stocked for us there. Best case we can drive, wost case we walk . So the bags are tailored to the worst case seneiro.

    tarp, shoes, multitool, the first aid/trauma kit is not opened: tourniquet and disinfection , UHF radio, otherwise I believe this is a great set up for a single season and single geographic location.

    • @PreparedAirman
      @PreparedAirman  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      All is done just not in view. Pocho is my tarp, multitool (Leatherman wave) is in my HPG chest rig just not shown. Both first aid and trauma kit are open and easy to access. They are in heavy ziplock bags because I built them myself. ( th-cam.com/video/KX8O7TzFSWo/w-d-xo.html ). Both tourniquets are out of sight because of the camera angle. One is attached external to my backpack and the other is on the bottom of my chest rig for easy access easy to access. 😁
      Personally I've never carried a radio and I see no added benefit to the weight. Both my current home and bug out community have them so I don't have a reason to carry it.

    I am proud of your continuing progress and skills. This presentation is old hat for you. You live it and use these products every week.
    Re: your saw, keep your eye open for the Silky Saw from Japan. Uses a pull cut and is sharp as a razor. Many arborists swear by them. Various sizes available. Same travel size. Much more efficient to cut with, which saves time and energy. See Amzn.
    Re: your bag: did you say you have done a video with detailed coverage? If not, I’m interested.
    Do you have more details of the add on side units?
    More later. Just wanted to say hello again.
    Oh yes, one more thing. Carry some eye drops for moisturizing when the RH is so low and the wind is blowing. Makes all the difference. Also help to flush out sawdust and other problems along the road.
    Do you have a small 10-15x mirror to help you see your eyes better if needed? Have them at WM in cosmetics or Amzn. Some have suction cups on the back to free your hands. Probably 4” max diam. the older you get, the more you will appreciate it. Trust me.

    hello, thanks for putting this together and showing-- however no entrenching tool (shovel)?-- yes I understand you have a poncho but no tarp? really? I guess this is more of a 72 hour bag and not an INCH (I am never coming home) bag. paracord? bank line? cooking pot? yes, I have the keith canteen too and it comes with a cup but a cooking pot is something you can not duplicate in nature.

    • @PreparedAirman
      @PreparedAirman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This bag is designed with long distance hiking and speed in mind about 150 miles or 10 days. In that mindset i am quickly moveing from point A to B. Building a shelter or digging along the way will be a waist of time and energy. I use my Poncho as my tarp, and my bivy bag as a separate rain layer for my sleep system. I have 150lb mini paracord line as cordage. I use the canteen cup as my cooking pot. Would it be nice to have a full pot? Yes.. but I can't justify the weight if my canteen cup does the exact same thing just lighter. Every one has different needs mine is being as lightweight as possible without sacrificing usability.

    • @PreparedAirman
      @PreparedAirman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fairly comfortable in the summer time with temps dropping in the 40s at night. The swagman roll is good in the mid 50s. I add the clothes to get the temp lower. The SF bivy doesn't breathe very well at all lol. But if you leave your head area open a bit it mitigates the moisture build up. But if it's pouring rain/snow you will definitely stay dry.
