Some more information and history about this area and a connection to the USA. During the 1850s gold rush in Victoria, the town of Beechworth and the surrounding area had 52 men arrive who were from Somerset County in Maine. Of which quite a few of them had previously tried their luck on the Goldfields of California.
As a kid i would have gone through that tunnel over summer killing the snake in it without hesitation. Now my OH&S brain would make me paranoid about being on the dam bank

There is a bridge here in Penrith nsw its called Lennox Bridge it too was one of the first stone bridges built in Australia
