I recently changed the driveshaft in my diesel pump. On my way to removing the old pump, I found my timing gear marks off a tooth when looking at them, tried turning the whole system 18 turns, still off a tooth. My perkins 6 cylinder engine after fitting the driveshaft and keeping the marks off a tooth will crank for 10 seconds but does not start. Very little white smoke is coming out of the exhaust. Might the wrong timing marks be the problem?
Respected I'm building a generator for myself on a Perkins C4.4 engine I can't find information about tightening the head and other parts anywhere. to how many Nm it is tightened.
There is a factory tool that picks up on the keyway slot on pump shaft and locates in the small holes on the casing of the pump body without the tool it difficult

BRING THE 1 ST CYLINDER ON TOP , LOCK THE CAM GEAR USING A SCREW DRIVER BUT FIRSTLY LOCK THE FUEL PUMP ROTOR.
