    I have a 3 year old male Gordon Setter. He is the most affectionate dog I have ever seen. He always wants to lay next to someone if we are in the house. He looks smaller than the ones in the video as he is only 54 pounds but he gets along well with his friend, my 140 pound Rottweiler. It is almost pheasant season here in Pennsylvania and he is constantly going through the property looking for them. I really enjoy my Gordon Setter.

    I wouldn't trade my experience with my 13 y/o who passed away in 12/17. He was the love of our life, and adopted when he was 1 1/2. pup coming in June ... cannot wait.

    Excellent video for anyone considering a Gordon. I was fortunate enough to adopt a rescue that turned out to be a Gordon (about 2 years old) A most happy accident. Love the breed and my dog but early on, it would have been helpful to have exactly this kind of information in such a brief, clear format. She obviously has a good "feel" for the breed and this is more helpful than an impersonal summary.

      Lynne Rustad hey! My mom got a Gordon at the pound as well!! If I ever move out I have to take him with me .. I loooove him!!

      It seems odd that you would only find this out after you got him from the pound. If someone gave him up willingly, wouldn't they have told the pound what breed he was? They are fairly rare.

    I had three Gordons in my life. As a teen, we had a short haired Gordon (short hair and np feathering). My second a third were long hair. The dogs were my favorite breed closely followed by the English setter. They were good with people and other dogs. They are an intelligent breed but can be head strong. They are there to work and should have a job. Mine were used for hunting but around the house, I would give them my mail, they would follow me until I took it back. Grooming is truly necessary and they a big on drooling. The slobber got everywhere. I srill miss my guys, but I could not give them the needs of the breed anymore n

    I sometimes exercise my friends Gordon
    She is adorable
    Bouncy
    Can be a little naughty
    Very good at climbing onto pub garden tables for crisps
    Loves to get muddy
    Everyone loves her
    She makes everybody smile
    And she lives in suburban London
    No problem on the tube and is well known around Fitzrovia.
    I’m hoping to get one as l hit 60 and go part time
    They are an excellent dog
    Only problem is l have to give her back after walking her
    They are very loyal l have found
    And she loves going to the pub to get spoilt and meet people

    Many years ago I had a Gordon. He lived to almost his 14th birthday. I was heartbroken for a very long time and still miss him to this day. Everything this lady said in the video is true. Best breed ever ❤️

    I now have my second Gordon male that is now 4 years old. I totally love this dog, the best dog I’ve ever had. This video really describes this breed and everyone who. Is thinking of getting a Gordon should watch this! My Gordon, Bentley loves to run out in the yard and he is a muddy mess here in Oklahoma when it rains!

    Haunting with these in the Norwegian mountains of "Dovre" is amazing. They are so fast and run 100x the distance you walk and seek out your whole field of view for birds. When they get home they are the most calm family dogs.

    I had three GS. They were show champions, field trial champions, and believe it or not...one of them actually earned an obedience title. They were all clowns, but quite mischievous rascals.

    Our Gordon was really hard work, but he was a rescue dog. He ate everything in sight, including 20 peppermint creams that I made plus the paper cases! (When I wasn't looking). He also used to eat all the Christmas presents under the tree (wrapped up Toblerone). Don't leave food out - it'll be gone!

    We had a Gordon Setter when I was a teenager back in the 80s (a Rossend dog). Recently, I came across an ad for Gordon Setter x puppies (accidental mating) and couldn't resist. I collected my girl 4 weeks ago and absolutely adore her. Being a cross (Dad is a Gordon x German Wirehaired Pointer. Mum is full Gordon Setter), she looks predominantly like a Gordon, but does have a crazy little beard from the GWP. She is all black with a white marking on her chest. I will be very interested to see how she develops as she matures. Her parents are only pets, but all grandparents on both sides are working gundogs so I don't expect her to have as much feathering as a show bred Gordon. Coming across that ad was the best accidental find 😊 She's 13 weeks old and a wee lovable rascal 💕

      Hey thanks for heart. My mom actually got our Gordon from the pound. They said the lady that had him just couldn't take care of him anymore. But he is the *sweetest* dog I've ever had (and I've had a lot of dogs lol) I wanted to ask u , do they go totally blind? Because his eyes are terrible...he can't see anything in the sun. And The only bad thing is that his name is *snoopy* 😹😹.(I don't know why someone named a Gordon *that* but he likes it, I guess). Another thing I wanted to ask is he doesn't seem to look Gordan in the face, he doesn't have big floppy ears or floppy lips? But he has everything else like the brown eyebrows and stuff?

    • @NaturallyHappyDogs
      @NaturallyHappyDogs  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is possible he may be crossed with something else. Dogs can be blind or partially sighted, if you are unsure get your vet to check.

    • @cappy2282
      @cappy2282 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Naturally Happy Dogs ya I think he may be crossed with something else but its only the ears and lips that are not as floppy as a full breed. His hair, tail and even his legs are Gordan lol. My vet couldn't really tell me anything besides him being a setter. But he is a very good dog who loves to eat, walk and play with his tennis ball. But his eyes get worse every year....I was playing with him in front yard the one day and when i threw the ball he went crashing into the bushes and took out like 3 of my mom's yard decorations. Thank God he was ok but it was crazy 😹

    Ours was a GIFT... THE BEST PUP
    6mo. Old now, most intelligent breed for personal pet or the field. I can just talk and explain the rules, and to watch him 'reson'
    Is interesting watching him grow.
    Have a most joyous time with yours.

    Gordons are hunting dogs. Your dogs look like a cross between a Gordon and an Afghan??? Have these dogs ever had the bliss of working birds in the field?

    • @christinewittmann1806
      @christinewittmann1806 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bench setters of all kinds look like these. Longer hair and bigger is the show standard. The hunting variety have been bred differently. My bench English setter looks very different than my uncles hunting dogs and both are full bred setters
