    You have an amazing voice and clarity on the subject... you should be proud of that. Based on the content, I believe your 'no. of views' is simply an understatement.
    Thank you Else.. Keep up the good work.

    I am truly amazed and thankful for you and for the way you clarified the subject. Do you have more videos explain different subject like A/Payable and payroll, or bank reconciliation. please let me know. :)
    And do you have videos where explain how to enter daily general entries, like receives bills and make payments, or receiving payments from customers, or preparing payroll on accounting programs like simply accounting programs or QB program. if you don't have, please think about do it.. making them in your way, its much easier to understand them.
    Thanks again for your great job,

    Will bad debt expense be credited by $25000 if the company is able to clear off the allowance for doubtful accounts? 3:49

    • @elsegrech
      @elsegrech  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on what you mean by "company is able to clear off the AFDA". Do you mean if the customer which went bad now paid the full amount? If that is what you mean by "clear off the AFDA" then no, bad debt expense is not credited. Instead, when a customer is written off and then, later, pays the amount, we do two entries: Dr. A/R, Cr. AFDA (to reinstate the accounts receivable) and then Dr. Cash, Cr. A/R (to recognize payment). There is no direct impact on Bad Debt Expense. Hope that helps!

    Hi Grech,
    The subject is clear and simple to understand for the layman point of view. However, could you please align this topics to the liabilities of the balance sheet as well. so that it would be more clear in the topic on how it would impact in the liability side of B/S.

    • @elsegrech
      @elsegrech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry but there is no impact on the liabilities side of the balance sheet when dealing with A/R and the AFDA. That's why I don't show it. Sorry if anything in the video was confusing and made you think there was an impact on liabilities. Warm regards, Else

    • @lakshmanyadav1101
      @lakshmanyadav1101 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@elsegrech No problem Grech. Thanks for the reply back. However, there will be impact in liability side of B/S with the provision for Baddebts will be deducted from liabilities if I was not wrong.

    • @elsegrech
      @elsegrech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lakshmanyadav1101 No, the provision is a contra asset account, not a liabilities account.

    • @elsegrech
      @elsegrech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lakshmanyadav1101 Sorry but no. The provision is a contra asset account and would be included as part of current assets. There is no impact on liabilities. Hope that helps. Else

    Your presentations are clear and well thought out. Rather than put them together in one long video, you separate them to emphasise a particular principle while linking them to each other by drawing from the examples and concepts shared. And your communication skills are engaging - you've turned what could've been dry materials into valuable lessons by prioritising logic and clarity rather than a mess of jargons. Thank you Else for being so generous with sharing your time and knowledge.

      @@elsegrech positive feedback for quality work is a given. It's clear from the structure and presentation flow you've put a lot of thought into planning this. Again, thank you for sharing - I wish more accounting mentors and professors are as engaging and able to relate so closely to the audience. Keep up with the excellent work!

    How do non-profits deal with this contra asset AFDA-do they use it or generally do they use the direct write-off method?

    • @elsegrech
      @elsegrech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Non-profits would deal with doubtful A/R in the same way, using the AFDA as long as the amount of the write off is material. Hope that helps!

      hind hk it will be recorded as an accrued revenue (credit liability and debit cash), somehow the same as if walmart for instance sells you a prepaid card, they will record it that way in their books.
      Hope it helps :)
