Why would you try and hold the ribbon vibrator AND try and thread the ribbon at the same time. Just do as the user manual says and jam two keys/type bars together which holds the vibrator up. Once done, unjam the type bars.
That would make sense. However, I believe you can pull the ribbon holder up further than the machine pushes it up by itself.
