Hey Bruh!! Really appreciate any tutorial you do especially for gospel. The difficulty I am having is your number system. I'm teaching myself on a five string (now 6 months). Is there any tutorial you have or that you could recommend so I can keep up with you on your tutorials. I am loving it but the number system is totally throwing me off. I guess I better learn it before going any further!!

Gary Robinson hey Gary. Hopefully I can help a little on the number system. I used to have trouble with it as well. The number system is used by musicians for "on the fly" or quick training. It helps in a live setting when a musician may want to flow with something fresh at the spur of the moment so he would communicate in the number lanague to the other musicians since the number system is Universal. The number system is the number that corresponds with the note of the particular scale of that song. In this case, if I'm not mistaken, the song is in the B flat Minor scale. The notes in that scale are Eb, F, G, Ab, Bb, C, and D...so the number system for that scale would be 1 being Eb, 2 being F, 3 being G, 4 being Ab, 5 being Bb, 6 being C, and 7 being D. So for example, when he said "4, 3, 6, 2" he is actually saying "Ab, G, C, F"..and when he says "Sharp 6", he is actually saying "C sharp" since "6" is the C note.
It helps to write down the notes and put the number above the notes.
I know this long but I'm just trying to help. Hopefully this helps you like it helped me.

Princeton!! Thank you so very much for your assistance!! I was feeling a little overwhelmed there is a lot to learn but I am loving every bit of it!! So my goal will be to learn the hell out of my scales frontwards and backwards and put it down on paper!!! And memorize!! Thank you again please please feel free to offer any advice you have for a beginner like myself!! Much appreciated!!!
