During WW2 it was common practice to weld all but the conning tower deck hatches shut before setting sail to prevent depth charge attacks causing the hatches to pop open.
they simplified the workings for the size, the four torpedo tubes should have each opened on there own. and I think the bar you put in should have been two because I think those fins can move independently.
Looks great! Wayne, I have the same adjustable clamps that you are using. Mine had an oily substance on the orange pads. It came off with some isopropyl alcohol and soap. Just a heads up...I first noticed it after getting some weird fisheye while painting...
I suspect that testing those motors might prove risky until stoppers or circuit board are fitted to limit the movement of the parts (for example, I think the torpedo tube doors might break if there isn't something telling the electric motor to stop at the right time).
Hello World of Wayne, I am considering subscribing to the U-96 build series. I understand there are 35 packs in the U-96 collection. What isn’t clear is the relationship of monthly kits to the 35 packs. Are there multiple packs in each kit? The welcome delivery includes two kits for $4.99 plus S/H. The second delivery includes 4 kits for $18.44 plus S/H. The third through sixth deliveries appear to be 1 kit each for $13.99 plus S/H. Do the indicated 35 packs comprise the six deliveries? Calculating total cost seems to be $4.99 + $18.44 + (4 x $13.99= $55.96) totaling $79.94 plus S/H. $80 seems very inexpensive for such a detailed, comprehensive and dynamic build. What am I missing. My person interest and historical connection to the U-96 is that it was a type VIIC submarine as was U-578 which sunk the Standard Oil tanker, RP Resor my father William Bores, served on two months before being torpedoed. Due to family business requiring my dad’s attention, he requested and was granted shore leave. Disembarking Resor in mid December 1941, WWII had been declared the week prior. Having missed rejoining his RP Resor shipmates that left the Port Of Houston Thursday Feb 19, 1942, the following Tuesday, Wm. Bores joined the crew of SS Montpelier and departed Baytown, Feb 24, 1942. Four days later on the evening of February 28, 1942, commanded by Ernst-August Rehwinkel, German U-boat U-578 torpedoed the RP Resor killing all but two. Had my father finished his family business five days earlier, he wouldn’t have survived. He worked in the engine room.
Each pack has a certain number of stages. Most of these builds come in around £1250+ . You can see what each pack contains in the link to the instructions in the video description. 35 packs is actually 35 deliveries. Hope that makes sense
Hello: I’m waiting for kits 3-6 ! I was thinking how an amazing detail to add would be a u-boat enigma machine ! Maybe I could 3D print one ? Has anyone else thought of this ?
Yup I got mine in the U.S. but they sent me a Wargaming set of figures by accident from England with my invoice for the U-boat 96...then i got my 66 Batmobile and it had the same exact invoice in it for the U-boat 96...so it goes to show that these companies are probably all in the same building as each other and sending them out to everyone...lolol 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Then it took for ever to get Hachette to finally understand what happened...then they send me the correct first and second stage for the U-boat 96 from their warehouse in the U.S. and not from England...lolol 🤣🤣🤣🤣 But now its back to coming from England...why i don't know... And their charging me the wrong amount for the number of stages I'm getting... So i hope they get this all straightened out because i really would like to finish building it...lolol Have fun Wayne...best regards mate across the pond...

The proper terminology would be "Bow Planes." 🍻
@@theduel007 hehe as long as people know what I'm talking about I don't really care.

Hello mate have you seen the darlik build
Yep
Can you add a link to that build?
@theduel007 Just a test but would be good to see this go for a full run #DoctorWho #Dalek dalek.hachettepartworks.com
The orange parts on the conning tower are lifebelts

I couldn't quite tell from the video but are the bottom hull parts plastic or metal?
They are metal. The connectors are plastic

It's 35 packs with 4 stages per pack, comes to about 140 stages, and over $2k in USD over a period of two years+
Great vid
Cool kit.....but that seam in the conning tower doesn't look too great

I'm surprised that they chose to use optic fiber over SMD LEDs. Wouldn't that be better, and cleaner design than fiber optic?
Yep
Massive!
This still a trial ?
Nope. Full run now
Lifebelts, Lifebouys.
A pair of bulwarks! 😂
