I have never heard a reed organ that sounded this good. Is it the acoustics of the building that contribute to the sound? Wow!

Yes, definitely, acoustics of the church let it sound wonderfully but the instrument itself was well restored and if an organist knows how and what to play on it, the result is nothing short of amazing!

Vidas this is an amazing instrument. It has a beautiful voice and in this vast space resounds through the building very much like a pipe organ. I hope the clergy, religious, and congregants don't get so spoiled from hearing it used that they forget about the pipe organ up in the west tribune. They are very, very fortunate to have not one but two beautiful organs for worship use, each one quite beautiful to hear!

Thanks Steve! Of course we will be using the big organ as much as we can too.

Bit of a shame nobody builds reed organs anymore. This one sounds great!

Yes, it’s expensive manual labor but the market is too small. Therefore organ builders only restore them.

Great to see something like this not going to the scrap heep. Obviously a bit limiting in colour but sounds great in that acoustic.

Really impressed with the sound of this organ! I've never seen a reed organ that actually had 16' stops.😮 The reeds for those must be HUGE! The addition of the vacuum turbine (yes vacuum, as these reed organs almost all were set up to draw air through the reeds, rather than blow through them) will be a real energy saver, and make for a lot more stable pitch. If in doubt, look at where the supply line plugs into the suction side of the turbine!😉 I'd love to see/hear this in person.😊🎵🎶

Glad you liked it! Yes, it's a suction system as opposed to blower system. Thanks for stopping by! We will be posting more videos with it soon.

What a remarkable instrument in both looks and sound, and so very beautifully restored! (The addition of an electric blower will certainly save a lot of human energy needed either for the hand pump or the foot bellows . . . thus allowing the pedal board to be put to good use!)

Glad the organ has a new permanent home! It was also really cool to see more of the magnificent downstairs at St. John's since most of your uploads are filmed in the organ loft!

Simply I'm happy! And a bit jealous - this reed organ is big competition to the organ! Such an expressive, gentle and also full sound! I don't understand, why reed organs nowdays are being replaced with pornofonium?

Thanks Janis! It’s really an amazing invention. Electronic or digital organs in my opinion are 99% of the time acceptable to use at home, not in public places like this.

It's lovely! It sounds like it's expressive- does it have a "swell-box" of some sort?
