Obviously Kurdish is very different from Arabic, though most Kurds speak Arabic as well. It isn't as diverse a country with accents, dialects and languages as Afghanistan is. He could even have possibly tried learning modern standard Arabic, as many Iraqis study in that form at school or they are familiar with it from TV etc. I understand that his MS may have made it difficult, but he could have learned the religious terminology better so that he could perform mass in a better way. Though seeing him giving the sacrament was quite beautiful and simple and it was interesting hearing the words said in simple Arabic.

I must say though i found it touching for some reason as i watched him and you could see that Islam does play a role in his life still, for the prayer beeds that he holds alot, are very similar to the rosary we use, but not the same. They do look a lot like the same ones the imams held in Afghanistan. I often think its sad to see these places where often faiths are intermingled and live in a better relationship then in most places of a modern world
