      Demand is insane. Of course Tesla needs to raise prices, the wait times are getting too long and they need to account for future increases in supply costs. And regarding supercharging, as the price of oil increases, energy costs increase as well hence the increased energy costs. Tesla are less less expensive to own compared to their ICE counterparts. Model 3 standard range is a bargain and model 3 performance is still a good deal as well.

    Observation - it seems that supercharging rates have increased from 22 to 25 cents per kWh to then 27 to 32, now 37 to 40 cents per kWh as of yesterday. That’s some 75%++ increases over the late 2018 to current period eg 3 1/2 years. This now makes long range driving only 33% less expensive than ICE, taking into account the loss of efficiency from wind resistance at 77 mph, use of AC or cold weather penalty etc. prices are across Midwest superchargers IL IA MO

      Yes, they do. This is a tricky one for Tesla, because by the time they build your car 6 to 9 months from now, price increases in Tesla's supply chain will reduce the profit margin on your vehicle. They increase vehicle prices in anticipation of rising supply chain costs so that pricing on future orders stays in line with manufacturing cost.

    I was glad when I purchased my M3LR for £48450 last year. I knew prices were going to rise based on early 2021 M3 price rises in the USA. But as of yesterday the price is £57450. £9k in less than one year. I’m going to have to say that if I waited a year, I would have said “No Way!” and just stuck with my diesel car despite the massive fuel price increases.
    Is it a good purchase at that price of £57450? That depends on the general trajectory for inflation and wages. Price inflation is really difficult to process psychologically speaking. I’ve grown up to expect price falls from new tech, so waiting has been a habitual strategy. On the other hand regression to the mean can also be achieved by wage increases. Many workers are demanding 10%+ wage increases here in the uk, though companies are resisting this. No pay rises for me, but other industries see strong wage growth.
    I’ve just got a feeling that demand will evaporate at £57k. £50k is a strong psychological barrier for a new car and this is way past that barrier. There’s also the risk of high depreciation if you buy in at £57k.

      While Supercharging is truly becoming less competitive when compared to gasoline (ignoring maintenance and oil changes), the vast majority of charging occurs on level 2 chargers, with some level 1. Tesla has the luxury of charging much more with respect to pricing right now, so they're capitalizing on the opportunity, they are also highly focused on cleaning up/reducing their COGS, and OpEx. Nice video and information as always! Just wanted to point out a couple of things and my experience in the last couple of weeks shopping for my first EV. There are several differences in IONIQ 5 at $40K vs Model Y at $66K. RWD vs AWD and available features separate the two. I built an IONIQ 5 and Kia EV6 to get equivalent features such as AWD, leather, heated seats and steering wheel, etc, and both the IONIQ 5 and EV6 came in in the $50K-$55K range MSRP, then trying to not pay over MSRP from a dealership right now is another challenge in itself. All things considered, it was virtually the same cost to get equivalent features on the IONIQ 5, EV6 and M3 Long range. I decided to order a Model 3 Long range AWD instead for $56K (right before price increase), due to the supercharger network, extra features that Tesla has built in (auto pilot, sentry mode, etc), and the fact that Tesla has been producing EVs for longer and at a larger scale than the other manufacturers at this point.

    So much for Tesla making an affordable electric car. Disgusting how expensive these cars are. I 100% support electric vehicles, but someone MUST make them affordable to the masses in order to really enact change. This is still a luxury vehicle.

      @terriw919 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree 100% If the goal is to get more people to drive EV's, charging astronomical prices will turn people off. How long will they be able to price gouge before people stop buying. Time will tell.

      If all you want is an EV, get a Nissan or Chevy Bolt. If everyone could afford a Tesla, it wouldn’t be luxury EV.

    It’s looking bad for rivian especially after Munro’s tear down and the lack of dependable charging options..

      But rivian quality is far better with more features as well. Better value imo too. Quad motor, clearer screen, nicer seats, air suspension, etc etc

      @@CSIG1001 I would be afraid that the risk of failure is higher and cost of servicing if you have 2 drive train systems. Small batteries are higher prone to failure due to many cycles per year.

    from the videos I have watched on charging EV’s other than Tesla it is a definite a problem. in one article they quoted 27% of the non-chargers were not working

    We just reserved a model 3 Rear Wheel Drive for $46K, it will come with LFP batteries so acceleration from 0 to 60 is down to 5.8 seconds. It’s crappy to see That a year ago we could’ve paid the same for a long range with all of its benefits. Is now a bad time to buy?
