There was a match where dolph ziggler was dressed a sin cara, beat his opponent in heelish fashion, which was weird since sin cara was face. This led to a backstage interview with someone questioning sin cara about it, him not understanding, and that's it, never brought up again

I was always under the impression that the reason the set collapsed, lights fell, fans invaded backstage etc was because Vince was spending the money he would usually pay security/lighting riggers etc on the Million Dollar Mania. The Vince limo explosion was genuinely the most shocking storyline of all-time, IMO. We really were not expecting it. But the Benoit incident upstaged everything in wresting, and it forced the CEO of the world's largest wrestling company to break kayfabe to address the incident, and thus killing the story. Very unfortunate. BTW, I'm convinced that Chavo Guerrero knows everything and after somewhat blabbing about it on the Benoit tribute show, buried it. I noticed years later that of all the clips of the wrestlers talking about Benoit, Chavo's went missing from official WWE media.

It was hinted that D-X set Shawn up they just left it as that. If I remember correctly that was the night mankind became WWF champion for the first time.
I remember being confused by all that the first time around as well! I think what ended up happening was that DX set Shawn up because a few months earlier, Shawn cost X-Pac his match against The Rock for the title.
5:26 Even when WCW explained things away _with_ spooky mysticism, it wasn't overly adequate. The Dark Side of Hulkamania - presumably achieved through removal of the Fu Manchu - wasn't so much resolved as tossed into a fire by _World War 3._

I remember the heat the company took with the Vincent set collapse given it happened about a week or so after a crew member died after a piece of the TNA set fell on him. Something that was covered in the industry news section of the WWE website that they had started doing at this time.
The craziest angle I’ve seen that no one remembers was on an episode of Mid South. JYD was about to have a squash match when smoke started billowing from the entrance way. Kendo Nagasaki in full ninja gear came out on a motorcycle, not actually driving it but kinda waddling in neutral while sitting on it. Then he gets off and suddenly runs back through then entrance, coming back a few moments later with the kendo stick that he forgot. Kendo and JYD square off in the ring and the fans in studio were actually chanting JYD excited to see him fight this mythic biker ninja. Then Kendo just leaves, the jobber who has just been standing in the ring the whole time attacks JYD from behind but gets power slammed and pinned in 5 seconds, and the segment ends. A completely surreal and goofy 80s angle booked by Bill Watts of all people.
Hogan lost his mustache because The Giant grabbed it on his way down falling off Cobo but Hogan was actually supposed to lose it in a Mustache vs Mustache match with Sullivan and dungeon of doom and that's why the taskmaster kicked the giant out because he messed up the infamous Mustache match.🤣🤣🤣

Beefcake mustn't have been ready for a return to action so soon after his reconstructive surgery.

There was a match where dolph ziggler was dressed a sin cara, beat his opponent in heelish fashion, which was weird since sin cara was face. This led to a backstage interview with someone questioning sin cara about it, him not understanding, and that's it, never brought up again
There were 2 Sin Caras in WWE for a while Sin Cara Azul (Mistico) and Sin Cara Negro (Hunico) maybe it was part of the build up for that?

I was always under the impression that the reason the set collapsed, lights fell, fans invaded backstage etc was because Vince was spending the money he would usually pay security/lighting riggers etc on the Million Dollar Mania. So in storyline everything was falling apart to confirm how shit of an idea it was.

The Vince limo explosion was genuinely the most shocking storyline of all-time, IMO. We really were not expecting it. But the Benoit incident upstaged everything in wresting, and it forced the CEO of the world's largest wrestling company to break kayfabe to address the incident, and thus killing the story. Very unfortunate. BTW, I'm convinced that Chavo Guerrero knows everything and after somewhat blabbing about it on the Benoit tribute show, buried it. I noticed years later that of all the clips of the wrestlers talking about Benoit, Chavo's went missing from official WWE media.

It was hinted that D-X set Shawn up they just left it as that. If I remember correctly that was the night mankind became WWF champion for the first time.
I remember being confused by all that the first time around as well! I think what ended up happening was that DX set Shawn up because a few months earlier, Shawn cost X-Pac his match against The Rock for the title.

I remember the heat the company took with the Vincent set collapse given it happened about a week or so after a crew member died after a piece of the TNA set fell on him. Something that was covered in the industry news section of the WWE website that they had started doing at this time.
The craziest angle I’ve seen that no one remembers was on an episode of Mid South. JYD was about to have a squash match when smoke started billowing from the entrance way. Kendo Nagasaki in full ninja gear came out on a motorcycle, not actually driving it but kinda waddling in neutral while sitting on it. Then he gets off and suddenly runs back through then entrance, coming back a few moments later with the kendo stick that he forgot. Kendo and JYD square off in the ring and the fans in studio were actually chanting JYD excited to see him fight this mythic biker ninja. Then Kendo just leaves, the jobber who has just been standing in the ring the whole time attacks JYD from behind but gets power slammed and pinned in 5 seconds, and the segment ends. A completely surreal and goofy 80s angle booked by Bill Watts of all people.

One abandoned storyline I remember was the Furface/Mariner/repackaged Brutus Beefcake appearances in the run-up to WrestleMania VII. He'd run into the ring to attack heels such as Earthquake and Rick Martel after their WWF Superstars squash matches, but then wasn't spoken about again after Mania. Beefcake mustn't have been ready for a return to action so soon after his reconstructive surgery.
