    I’d recommend the pepto tablets so you can bring them in your carryon on the plane.

  • @omhomelin
    @omhomelin ปีที่แล้ว +31

    Just a caveat about Pepto - it contains Sulpha and those who are allergic to Sulpha drugs can develop a very bad rash if they go into the sun (I learned this the hard way.) Also, please consider using “Reef Safe” sunscreen on vacation as the ingredient “oxybenzone” in traditional sunscreens can cause reef bleaching. I thought most resorts were asking ppl to do this but it’s more of a personal responsibility thing as no one will ask you but it does seem like the right thing to do

    I recommend brushing with bottle water and this will avoid having stomach issues. I am a Dominican who lives out of the country and I do not brush with tap water when I visit the country. I used to and always had stomach problems and my mother told me to stop using tap water and ever since I haven’t had any problems while in the country.

    First thing you do is bring tape and tape over the bathroom faucet. This way you will not drink or brush your teeth with the water. #2 When showering put mouthwash in your mouth (practice at home a few times before the trip) so again you don’t drink any of the water.

    Just got back from DR Royalton Bravo AMAZING TIPS....bring the tumbler/thermos for sure I had my butler fill my tumbler w tequila for excursions...also I would suggest bringing a snorkel gear and a floating raft people used for the bright blue ocean. Gift shop was insanely expensive 45$ for a 12$ floating raft . Sunscreen spot on that sun is hot 🥵 ruined my last day because I wore 15 sunscreen I literally had sunburn that made me so sick 🤢. Tipping we tipped our butler $120 whoops so thanks on the tipping point, he was nice but he really only booked dinner resvs that's bout it. O if you can book a swim up room... Pretty amazing 😍. James Coolist has great takes on DR resorts. We visited Excellence PC (we got a swim up suite but not the club side), and it was beyond excellent. Coolist didn't even mention the gym facilities and tennis courts (with daily instruction by a tennis pro!), and those spots are top tier for any resort, anywhere. It was also a great way to work off hangovers :) I'm booking Royalton CHIC for this Christmas (because Coolist says it's tops), and I can't wait!
    Definitely bring Pepto Bismol with you, but you likely wont also need pills for diarrhea. This is likely TMI, but Pepto turns your poop into black charcoal, lol, and you will likely become constipated as a result. Have some laxative ready when you get back, you'll need a good week to work it all through!

    Reapply all SPF every 2 hours, more often if you're in the water or sweating, even if it says water resistant. The difference between SPF levels are percent of UV rays it blocks. You also need at LEAST twice as much as you think you do or else you're not getting the SPF protection level on the label. 1 oz is recommended for the whole body--a shot glass. More if you're large.

      PC the hotels and food is better than Cuba. I've been to Cuba several times and Cuba is an amazing experience hands down the Cuban people are the most genuine and helpful of all the Caribbean. The beaches are absolutely to die for to see them youtube Cayo Santa Maria, Varadero, Cayo Coco/Guillermo...etc. Like i said the food is a little bland but you won't starve to death, the hotels are not as fancy their 5* is equivilate to a 3* in Mexico so best to book the best hotel and it is still 1/2 price of PC. If you are a seasoned traveller you might be a little disappointed in the hotel rooms fairly basic but who spends time in the rooms?

      Punta Cana has better food than Cuba. Mexico has better food than PC. Jamaica has much better beaches than Mex and PC but is more expensive and has slower service. Cuba should not even be on your list.

    Another I recommend bringing is cortisone cream. This goes hand in hand with pepto and immodium. I don't know if it was something in the pool or ocean, but I broke out in something and the cortisone cleared it up in a day. The good thing is that if you forget something most resorts have an on site pharmacy. You'll pay stupid money for the products, but they'll have what you need. Even prescription drugs that don't require a prescription. Like Tramadol for pain and antibiotics for infection are over the counter. Just don't take those back to the U.S. with you they won't make it through customs unless you have a prescription.

      The best way to avoid hangovers is by drinking at least as much water as alcohol. Your liver will thank you for it.

    • @asiah8139
      @asiah8139 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Advil or Aleve (ibuprofen or naproxen aka NSAIDs) for headaches. The liver already going through enough removing the alcohol, adding acetaminophen (Tylenol) will just add work and run the risk of liver damage. Just eat a snack before taking an Nsaid (prevent stomach ulcers). I tend to take ibuprofen after I eat but before I sleep just in case. Wake up great

      Although the resorts are high security you can walk along the beach for miles. We stay at the Grand palladium as it is adjacent to the town and the beach on the town side is lined with beach huts for shopping, hair braiding, nails and custom cigars. We've been there 11 times and have always gone back to the same resort. Our first two trips we stayed at the Barcelo and that was where we needed the immodium - and right before our helicopter tour!

    This video is incredibly insightful and informative! I appreciate how well-researched and well-presented the information is. It's really eye-opening to learn about the impact of social media on mental health and how we can take steps to protect ourselves from its negative effects. Thank you for sharing this important message and raising awareness on this topic.

    Hello again James, I have another question specifically related to your experience and thoughts on the gym and spa at Majestic Mirage. Are any spa amenities included at Club Level? In particular hydrotherapy, showers, sauna etc. I know massages and the like would be an extra charge. What is you review rating of gym equipment and or facilities.
    I'm enjoying and look forward to your daily vids.. I did catch that you are a fellow Minnesotan 🥶

      I went to the spa and got a couples massage 60 minutes-it cost $200. No spa amenities are included in your stay. If there was a sauna or shower, I didn’t read or see one. The gym was about a 3 or 4 minute walk from the property. It was next door at Elegance. I didn’t utilize the facility so I can’t speak to those facilities.

    I'm from Ireland and tipping in our country is done completely different than in the USA etc... would you give 1$ for every drink received ? or where would you tip appropriately

      My hubby at the beginning of the day will hand a $20 to one bartender. He then goes to that one person all day. His drinks are ready b4 he gets there . The guy keeps an eye out. He asks are you here all day, if guy says yes, he says ok your my guy. Usually he is our guy for the week. We tip him that everyday and another before we leave.

    My wife and I have a trip planned to PC Majestic Mirage in April, great video by the way. Our biggest concern is the covid test in order to get back to the US. I know the resort will do this for us, is it simple? what happens if we get a positive result? Both my wife and I have full vaccinations and boosted. Hoping restrictions will be lifted by our travels dates. Really don't want to get stuck there over our allotted vacation stay.

      Did you go? I’m going beginning of May do I need Covid test? I saw something about a document you have to apply for online

      @@doubtilove yes, spent 5 days at majestic mirage. Absolutely fabulous. At this time you need a negative covid test to return to US. Ours was done for free at the resort, very easy, takes 2 minutes, results in less than 30 minutes. You need to fill out a health questionaire online before traveling to the DR. Has to be shown at airport. Jetblue vacations sent us all the required links for requirements.

    How do you handle your cash when going to the pool and beach alone? And also your phone situation if your not using that waterproof carry case. Whats your advice for pool and beach with your phone? Thanks
