@@Showz333 The Asus Strix lineups are also great and they are also cool to touch in the palm rest area under max fans. Maybe Asus can change next year because they fixed some problems with previous year lineup. However yeah Lenovo has potential. Like they did the 16:10 aspect ratio,500 nits peak brightness, fingerprint sensor, all were great additions in the previous and literally every brand followed the first two this year.
@@Showz333 Strix G16 doesn't have mini LED only the scar has. However the Strix g16 may get hot due to the lack of liquid metal not being applied for the lower GPU models like the rtx 4070 and below. However the higher ends are really good. I'm not sure why they can't do the mini LED in the 18" G18 because even though it increases the cost it is priced very affordably at $2499 in the US. Of course it is more costlier in my country but I can't expect it to go above $2800

I would be tempted to for the new Blades down the line due to form factor/durability. However, My current blade that is about 1.5 years of use is getting keyboard degradation in the LED's which is bloody annoying. Apparantly its a common issue where the LED's die. Unfortunately, not gonna bother with getting it fixed being such a suerflouos feature overall, but will definitely be in the back of my mind when shopping for a new laptop.

I’ve sent it in for repair 3 times now and each time they make it worse. Twice they installed a 13950 board instead of the 13980. Last time they did not paste or reassemble it properly so the 13980 stays at 0.40 GHz after about a minute of use. You have to reboot then you have another minute of 3.5 ghz before it goes back to 0.40 GHz. The laptop is great but they do not stand behind it if something goes wrong. I STRONGLY consider you to rethink Razer. Late May and I still have nothing and they have gone silent on me the past 3 weeks. They just say we are working on your case and leave me with no laptop.

They cannot effectively repair these laptops. Twice they put in the wrong CPU & the last time they reassembled it improperly so the cpu is stuck at 0.40 GHz. Now they are ghosting me saying they are working on my case. No replies other than that for 3 weeks.

I was thinking of buying this laptop, but I have read several complaints from users, as well as reviews, that they have an excessive "Coil whine" problem, a very annoying electronic noise, I don't know if it's from the processor, graphics, coil,... .. Could you comment if you noticed anything during the analysis? A test showing how long you can keep the new laptops charged using a powerbank rather than the included brick would be a big help for people who want to use the laptop as a general laptop and carry it around without lugging the brick and cables about.

I wish gaming laptop manufacturers would offer cheaper models without the lightbars on them. I'd rather save $100 than have the lights, because in the end I'm looking at the display, not staring at the back of the laptop.

I got the RTX 4080 version from BH Photo and its one of the best at the price right now. I wanted to get the Blade 16 but went for SCAR 16 as the blade has some red flag for me. i.e the thermal issue while playing for long hours and touchpad being huge.

@@AhmedKathiri In the past, yes.. Throttlestop was considered better.. While still effective. Throttlestop doesn't allow you to undervolt the "ring" (E-cores).. Some would argue, the E-core tweaking doesn't have an overall, or significant impact on undervolt results. Throttlestop is still a very useful tool. I feel like it gives immediate results, while being more stable than XTU... BIOS update 308... My original Scar 16 didn't survive the update (rma). But, my new unit, under BIOS 308 , is much quieter , fan wise. I'm using the same fan profile as before. However, the fans now run 2100-2300 rpm slower, while delivering the same level of cooling. The coil whine on this unit is non existent. Out the box is minimal, right now, after four days of use, gone.
@@AhmedKathiri The speakers are phenomenal! They sound great, no issues. The speakers are loud, punchy, and have adequate bass for a laptop its size. Protip- if you use Steelseries GG, you may have to uninstall the Sonar drivers.. Steelseries GG, doesn't play nice with Dolby Access, as it (Sonar) disables spatial sound. I can confirm this on my older Scar 15 as well... But yeah, great speakers, can easily over power the fans, even at higher dBA.
for your information guys ,I bought ROG Strix scar 16 4080 one week ago and now it has been sent to service center. Because after window update and asus bios update it's screen gone dark and hard reset didn't work and have to sent it to service center :)

I really hate that angled chain stripe on the deck and lid. I'd imagine it's less noticeable than the product pics but I'm pretty sure it would still annoy me. If it didn't have that and did have a full size SD card reader and one nvme, I'd buy it.
Just bought this laptop based on your review, however, running the same settings as you, with the exception of a newer BIOS and Nvidia drivers, and -80 undervolt, I can only get 2800 on cinebench r23. Cpu temp gets pegged at 95c with fans on max manual mode. Did I get a bad one? Worth exchanging for a new one?
2800? or 28,000? If 2800, definitely get return. 28,000 in Cinebench R23, I would do some investigating to see what's going on. Maybe uneven liquid metal application? Might be worth redoing or getting warranty support. 28,000 is not a terrible score, but yeah, I would expect more. Is the power limit reaching the same 145W and maintaining there? Or is it thermal throttling sooner than that? Without details, I couldn't say what is going on.
Sorry yes 28,000.. except I didn't do anything except turn the laptop off overnight, and the next tests were even worse. Thanks for letting me know that's abnormal, since I'm still within my Amazon return period, no further investigation necessary, I just went ahead and returned it today. Might be a while before they refund me and I'd order another one, but I'll update when I do and if it tests the same as yours
Just an update on this, got the replacement yesterday. Straight out of the box only installing cinebench, it already has a newer bios that allows the -80 undervolt, turbo mode in armory crate.. it scored 30,881
Anyone else have a high pitch whistle associated with the fans? Changes in pitch and volume deepending on fan speed. Debating if a return will be worth the risk of getting a unit with dead pixels or other issues. Not to mention they're always out of stock and it could take forever.

Really stuck between the two. Love the blade 16 4090 build but why on earth did they give you either a 4k or 1080p. Awful choice. Love the Asus scar 16 4090, perfect screen, mini led with a 1440p display. But, that nasty cheap looking plastics that wraps around the machine, why Asus why.

I have the scar 16 4080 and when in performance or turbo mode I have a high noise pitch in addition to the actual fan noise. Sounds bit like a half loud tea kettle. Is that normal? Does it go away with time? I don`t think its coil whine though, that's more prominent in silent mode. So I can basically switch between coil whine or tea kettle. I am so happy...

I ordered the rog strix scar 16, rtx 4080 version, I heard the coil whine is bad as well on that version. How bad is it? How this top model 13980hx 4090 scar 16 miniled compared to top model razer blade 16 13950hx 4090 mini led with full performance twerking repasting if needed, all the undervolt, overclock power limit idk, tweaking to get the best performance? I heard that razer only pushes CPU up to 55w instead of 65 and also on performance much lower but the gpu on both is the full 175w, but still somehow the Asus performs better in only gu tests? How it is now than? What is the real world difference with all the tweaking to the max to get the best results on both? And battery life with same brightness and refresh rate with native res 4k 120 on razer and QHD 120 on Asus if completely unplugged? Please help in every detail. Can't decide. Thanks in advance. If everything is tweaked and undervolted, the Scar 16 is definitely faster in cpu and gpu. Check my latest scar 16 undervolting and overclocking guide. It shows the bios update with full undervolting performance crushing it

Course I other reviewers test saw razer only pulls 150w from gpu, and even the 145w M16 4090 can outrun it, ok though that was the 4090 blade with i9 but still, it tuned at 150w. But still in test that blade 16 13950hx 4090 was outperformed by 13900h 4090 M16 in evry single CPU based tests with much less cores. How is it?

I had both. blade 16 significantly better screen that has better color and deep blacks. keyboard goes to asus by a mile as well as touchpad. look depends on your taste. overall, i prefer the blade specifically because the screen is that good.

Hello, I have a MSI Titan GT77 2023 laptop at home. I noticed that the mini led screen shows dark shadows if on the screen is white and black color. Is this a feature of all mini led panels or is it something that MSI can work on and possibly fix in an update? What about this Asus Strix Scar 16 mini led. Is the the same shadows? Can you compare shadows on both laptops?

I have the scar 15 laptop, intel i9 / RTX 3070 Ti. Can you please help me, I need an expert. In armoury crate my GPU usage stays spiked up to ROG Boost OC while playing csgo which is a not demanding game. GPU temp in around 60-65C. I play in low settings, 4:3 res 1280x960 stretched. I know the GPU boost OC is a feature if this card however is this overclock necessary? should I disable it, if so how? should I be worried about having the Boost OC spiking constantly while gaming?

Not really, these kind of laptops are not meant for that. Intel Evo laptops/ultrabooks/MacBook are way better fit for those users.

New bios out (307), now it can be undervolted with an 80mv offset!

It's transparent plastic so the RGB travels through it. Looks very cool in the dark.

What to choose and why?
I have the scar 16 4080 and when in performance or turbo mode I have a high noise pitch in addition to the actual fan noise. Sounds bit like a half loud tea kettle. Is that normal? Does it go away with time? I don`t think its coil whine though, that's more prominent in silent mode. So I can basically switch between coil whine or tea kettle. I am so happy...
same here on the 4090 version...it's some type of whine from the fan(s) i think. only had mine for 2 days, has yours improved at all? not sure if i should attempt a return or not.
There are complains about terrible “coil whine” on Asus Laptops these days. Especially on Scar 18 and Scar 16 Rtx4090. I was planning to buy it, but you never mentioned about this sound, or I didn’t catch it. Any ideas from those user?

I ordered the rog strix scar 16, rtx 4080 version, I heard the coil whine is bad as well on that version. How bad is it? I also heard you can semi fix it with a bios update, I know this is few months later and maybe the issue might be resolved when I get mine, but I do not know. What are your thoughts or is this on just the other versions. If I need to do the bios update, how do I do it? I’m not familiar when it comes to bios stuff.

How this top model 13980hx 4090 scar 16 miniled compared to top model razer blade 16 13950hx 4090 mini led with full performance twerking repasting if needed, all the undervolt, overclock power limit idk, tweaking to get the best performance? I heard that razer only pushes CPU up to 55w instead of 65 and also on performance much lower but the gpu on both is the full 175w, but still somehow the Asus performs better in only gu tests? How it is now than? What is the real world difference with all the tweaking to the max to get the best results on both? Also, what is the the score difference on batter and 100w pd USBC charging between the 2? And battery life with same brightness and refresh rate with native res 4k 120 on razer and QHD 120 on Asus if completely unplugged? Please help in every detail. Can't decide. Thanks in advance.
Also the other laptop i am thinking is the x16 with max specs and 4090 egpu, and also the 14.5 inch new yoga pro 9i with 13905h and rtx 4070 on 140w usb-c charging. I'm also interested to find out the difference in x16 280w PSU vs 330w 4090 egpu vs 100wc charging vs battery vs Lenovo on battery, performance and battery life on all, and noise levels on manual max settings. If everything is tweaked and undervolted, the Scar 16 is definitely faster in cpu and gpu. Check my latest scar 16 undervolting and overclocking guide. It shows the bios update with full undervolting performance crushing it

Course I other reviewers test saw razer only pulls 150w from gpu, and even the 145w M16 4090 can outrun it, ok though that was the 4090 blade with i9 but still, it tuned at 150w. Or they didn't use turbo, and name that the blade is faster because at 150w it is quite than the M16 at 145w full power manual. But still in test that blade 16 13950hx 4090 was outperformed by 13900h 4090 M16 in evry single CPU based tests with much less cores. How is it?
@@GizmoSlipTech Also another deciding factor for me is how fast, can or could I transfer files from example a video editing project, is it worth it if i will have a full overclocked 13900ks 4090 setup at home to get the scar 16 and the Lenovo 16.3 inch folding tablet for drawing purposes, and as a media consuming decide and a second display, how would it work for the scar 16, is there now a latency free option with cable or without? How fast can i transfer a project that is quarter or 3 quarter ready either stqrted, or almost finished just needs a bit tweaking and the exporting to the 13900ks desktop PC, from any of these thunderbolt equipped devices? I will also have a 10gb thunderbolt 4 m.2 PCIe 4 Nash at home and wifi 6e router. Is it worth all the flafth from 13980hx for example 33.3k cinebench points to 41.3k cinebench point on the 13900ks to copy paste always or a lot of the time either my video projects or 3d design projects to the PC from any of these 5 (scar 16 , blade 16 , M16, x16 or yoga 9i) performance laptops to the desktop?

I dont think 4 fans will make a difference in having a gpu 90 degrees and after the 4th fan it still would peak 90

Looking at the Blade 16 or this scar 16. what would you recommend.
I had both. blade 16 significantly better screen that has better color and deep blacks. keyboard goes to asus by a mile as well as touchpad. look depends on your taste. overall, i prefer the blade specifically because the screen is that good.
I do talk about this several times, especially when I do the comaprsion to other laptops near the beginning, and again near the end at the conclusion.

not gamer and not a techy. I would save and get what I want. but! how long, realistically I can have this laptop. or is this something I have to replace within a couple of years or so.
Unfortunately its the opposite in APAC countries like Singapore. Here there's only Scar 16 with IPS panel, without news for a Mini LED version, which is upsetting.

Hello, I have a MSI Titan GT77 2023 laptop at home. I noticed that the mini led screen shows dark shadows if on the screen is white and black color. Is this a feature of all mini led panels or is it something that MSI can work on and possibly fix in an update? What about this Asus Strix Scar 16 mini led. Is the the same shadows? Can you compare shadows on both laptops?

staying with Razer Blade 16 4k 4090.
I have the scar 15 laptop, intel i9 / RTX 3070 Ti. Can you please help me, I need an expert. In armoury crate my GPU usage stays spiked up to ROG Boost OC while playing csgo which is a not demanding game. GPU temp in around 60-65C. I play in low settings, 4:3 res 1280x960 stretched. I know the GPU boost OC is a feature if this card however is this overclock necessary? should I disable it, if so how? should I be worried about having the Boost OC spiking constantly while gaming?
so what are the temps? just got mine, paid to have thermal paste replaced, got 100c on package and 99-100c on 4 of the p cores in timespy, also only got 19k, any tips? did i get screwed?

While the performance difference between the 4080 and 4090 isn’t much right now. Do you think as new games and new engines come out the the 4090 will outperform the 4080 by a greater margin than we are seeing now?
The VRAM might limit the 4080 and that'll be NVIDIA's fault.
