Because “competition” refers to a single event where people compete over their skills in an activity, while “sport” refers to the activity _itself_ ; you can say “she’s a sports player” (yes, ‘athlete’ is a better term, but it still works is my point) but not “she’s a competition player.” Some other languages, such as Japanese, my first language, have words for “competitive activities” including non-physical things. But English simply doesn’t have a word for that. Or at least as far as I’m aware.

Some Body I think they hit jackpot with the team chemistry. One person can pop off individually and have the team still suffer. The team does a good job of playing to his strengths I think. Doesn’t hurt that he’s really skilled though ofc
