That's because Kimmich is not a natural DM that can shield a backline from a counter attack.
He needs to play alongside a true #6 like Emre Can in order to stop a player like De Bruyne from slicing defenses open like a hot knife through butter.
KDB can only shine in friendlies & regular PL games. Kimmich has won more big games than KDB in his life. (Yes I'm talking about UCL)

To be fair, if someone is getting the ball that close to the net as a goalie your only expectation is a shot. It’s just plain difficult to react fast enough to reach a ball that fair away from the body

Where do other players disappear? There were no Musiala, Sané, Havertz, Schlotterbeck, Hoffman ... Adeyemi, Neuer and Brandt are absent for injury. Wirtz is a talented player, but still needs to develop himself. Füllkrug, I gave him 5 stars. Klostermann and Halstenberg, I do not know where they have been. Marvin Ducksch has not got a chance even though he performs very well in his club.
Musiala has injury and back to Munich lately. Besides that, Havertz only a EPL's merchant who not deliver a mere yet simple penalty, lucky he has Flick's obsession to trust him against Peru.

A lot of those are injured but keep in mind that this was a friendly, so a chance for Flick to test out some new faces. He has about a year and a half to build up a team for the Euros so I imagine we'll be seeing a fair amount of tinkering before he finally settles on a starring eleven.
This is a friendly. Where often players get to show that they fit in the starting 11. So most of the time there are many changes.

the play was stopped before the goal so VAR couldn't intervene

German team is so average, I don't know what is happening with their national football team, but this is not Germany we used to, nothing changes for 8 years, if you watch matches from 2018 wc and 2022, they are same, copy paste, it's even worst in 2022, I don't think Flick is solution for Germany, I don't see improving in any aspect.
Do you remember when Germany was out from Euro 2004, there was really great respond after that, and Germany was in top 3 teams every next competition until 2018. This is just from bad to worst.

The German team struggles with an inability to take games seriously
They took it pretty seriously, even made changes after half an hour.
Both teams went at it.
Germany needs a conservative defensive midfelder like, Julian weigl, Sebastian Rode,Robert Andrich, Vitaly Janelt, to stabilize the team otherwise I see an early exit at the euros next year

Brandt is world class, and he spent the entire World Cup on the bench. Hummels wasn't even selected despite having an amazing first half of the season. You can notice a pattern here

I remember the german fans were putting Löw on blast for 3 years because germany was performing poorly, but the truth is, the german players aren't that good anymore compared to 2014. I mean, seriously, how many of the current german players would get in that 2014 german world cup winning squad? Probably kimmich and Muller, that's pretty much it.

There was a shot. The German goal keeper lower his hands to look bigger. But the shot was high. The German goal keeper didn't have enough time to block it. This way Ter-Stegan was beaten twice. His hands should be at chest level, in cradle position, with two fists, ready to block the whole spectrum. Whose fault it is : the coach !!
See how Lukaku asked and pointed for the pass and it came. At CFC it rarely came.
I also agreed as Flick got more than year to find the balance and rhythm inside the squad. If still time is not enough for doing his job perfectly then its ridiculous because time ticking fast towards 2024 EURO and 2026 WC. If yet he can't then he must need to be replaced by a more competent coach than sticking up with Flick. Moreover, he's not the exact match for Germany's football playing style and tactics. He's more focused on possession and only charge opponent when opponent awarding mistakenly..but German football DNA based on Strongest defense line, tight man marking, repeated interceptions from backend to mid field to regain possession, long passing, long through ball, and constantly dominating opponent's defense line and made them exploit and find the opportunity and charge with counter attacking repeatedly with sheer aggression.
But Flick's German Football playing style is cloning the Bayern's tactics where as a club and a national squad can't ve balanced upon same tactics. If he's not changing the mindset of the playing style back to the usual dominant German football, I m extremely hopeless as a fan to see them doing better in near future or Euro 2024 or 2026 WC. Nothing seems to be achievable wifh Flick's way and the way Germany is playing from 2018-Present.
DFB Management body also got some internal collision of interest which also hampering even more to German Football. Nowadays, football literally becomes a business and all are focusing only on their sole benefit not thinking collectively as a bigger picture which is GERMANY NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM. As a fan I'm extremely disappointed and hopeless to find a dominant footballing nation who is usually considered as biggest threat to every other nations of the world, suddenly got displaced, disarrayed and scattered all around here and there without any dignity and genetics once it beared!
