Interesting fact: Ephialtes (the hunchback) was a real person who betrayed the Spartans, which lead to their defeat. Because of his actions, his name became an insult among Spartans, with its meaning being something like "nightmare." He was not deformed in real life, but this movie portrays him as being hideous because of Dilios' retelling of the events. Also, the line "Then we will fight in the shade" by Stelios was supposedly really uttered by a Spartan soldier named Dienekes at this very battle. However, the account was first told by Herodotus, who was a great Greek historian, but was known for embellishing the truth a bit. Much of this story comes from his accounts.

If you recall the narrator is telling this story. So the grotesque monsters , hunchback , and Persian fighters are from the imagination of one hearing the story being told.
It was common for Spartan families to gather as the boys would be wiped. Telling their sons don't you cry out in pain." Don't pass out from the pain " Mothers ,wives would tell their Spartan men "come back with this or on it" while handing the shield to the warrior. Meaning come back alive and vicious or come back dead from battle.
The only two people given grave markers were the Spartan men who died in battle and Spartan women who died in childbirth. Both were seen as giving their lives for Sparta.

Fun fact: After the Spartans cooled their tempers and realized they'd just murdered the Persian emissaries, they picked two volunteers to go to Xerxes' court to explain themselves and let the Persians kill them. Xerxes...laughed at them, and sent them away.

    • @nkscou9008
      @nkscou9008 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +30

      And now the real story:
After Spartans realized and lost their anger, they realized that they were breaking the law... because messengers are not supposed to be killed. Then the king of Sparta asked two volunteers to go as exchange for the two messengers, so that Xerxes could execute them. And all the soldiers around raised their hand. Leonidas chose two handsome young men (Sperthia and Voulis) and sent them to go before the great king and explain to him that they came voluntarily for execution, and in exchange for the two dead messengers. When they appeared before the king, Xerxes' guards ordered the two Spartans to fall on their knees and worship the king... The two Spartans Smiling, Fearless, Proud and Standing like Pillars, they looked at the Persians strangely and regarded them as mad, psychopathic and sick... The guards insisted and ordered the Spartans to bow down to their king... The two Spartans did not know the word pilgrimage... neither the meaning nor the method of how they should bow down ... The interpreter showed them the way they should worship the king... The two Spartans burst out laughing. And answered to Xerxes by saying, "King, we did not come here to worship you, we came here to be executed". Xerxes saw the conduct, the courage, the boldness, and the youth of the two Spartans... and he was afraid... and his whole body and his knees, began to tremble with fear, with rage and with shame... all the Persian council and the camp froze... Because all of them expected the Spartans to kneel in front of the King with tears and cries, begging him to spare their lives...
      -Herodotus Histories, VII 135-136
Arrogant Xerxes laughed twice when Demaratus told him that the Greeks, though few in number, would dare to resist. Numbers and the whip prevail, was his reply. The laughter of Xerxes reminds us of the laughter of the suitors of Penelope in the Odyssey which soon turned into lamentation.

@myegyptiandadreacts Dude you should totally do one of the big 5 or 6 shows that usually grow an audience but take some time to do. The Boys I think would be a good one because it’s wild not as many seasons and also is super popular at the moment because a spin off series just started this past week.
The other shows that I think you guys would love and could grow your channel (because I watch a lot of react content from time to time and I notice what shows/series end up gaining channels a butt load of subscribers):
1.) Game of Thrones is a big investment and takes a bit to get into but I think your dad would love all the political and social stuff and crazy fantastical lore stuff. HUGE FANBASE for Thrones reactions.
2.) The Walking Dead same thing as Game of Thrones there is quite an audience for new Walking Dead reactors.
3.) Breaking Bad is one of thee greatest shows of all time beginning to end. The other shows I listed are also the greatest of all time but not perfect every single episode beginning to end.
4.) this isn’t a tv series but being October now is a great time to put out horror reactions…people eat it up. The Scream Franchise is one of the best because they are all fairly good they keep you guessing. The Conjuring universe movies also do pretty great.
5.) Again not a tv series but the Marvel Cinematic Universe always attracts a crowd.
Don’t know why I felt compelled to tell you this as if you care or asked. But just wanted to share the bit of knowledge I have from watching reaction content for the past few years. Good luck you gained a new SUB today ;).

Some of these people were probably real, but the film is about how the passage of time and storytelling turns humans into gods and demons. Mythology :)

Zack Snyder - If you haven't watched Man of Steel, then Batman v Superman, then Wonder Woman, then Zack Snyder's Justice League, you are missing out a sequence of films you will both love. The fights in all these are done to the same standard as 300.

I dont know about the middle east but here in America we discard our unwanted children too. The most dangerous place for a child is in its mother's womb. We have the greatest army that has ever been, but we have lost our soul. I grew up much like lenoidos my farther beat me from the time i was 3 years old. When i was 7 he broke my arm and then beat me when i cried because of the pain. But it made me strong. As a man no one no matter his size ir strength could back me down. My motto is...." you may break my back but you will never bend my knee!!"

I reccomend you decrease the volume of the movie and increase the colume of your voice - it can be hard to hear you. Otherwise, great reaction!

this never even took place, it was propaganda to unite all the greek states against the persians. think about it logically their archers could easily have taken them out in reality. they wouldn't have needed to be above them, there were so many persians they could have kept on attacking in waves when the spartans were tired

And for the same reason, Persians won after the war. And for the same reason Alexander the Great never invaded Persian empire. They were too many... of course! 😂
