I know I keep saying this, but I find this build inspiring. I recently talked with an old school friend who, as a graduate of the Royal School of Furniture Making and a former film stage carpenter, is now determined to restart work on a wooden ship model that he last worked on thirteen years ago! He produced a number of excellent builds and has encouraged me to take the plunge. Here's to 2025 and a new venture. Cheers Phil
The SOE special squadron flew from RAF Tempsford and used RAF Tangmere as a forward base for delivering and extracting SOE Agent at night, behind enemy lines. The Tangmere Aviation museum has a replica of the model used in the film. Black with the green and grey camo on the top. Amazing aircraft. 👌🏻 I’d imagine a future release will see the SOE schemes
My Uncle was attached to a Polish Lysander squadron for a time as a rear gunner during the last War and his plane crash landed in a ploughed field after dropping off an agent …unfortunately the Polish pilot did not survive. He himself was smuggled back to the U.K. by the Resistance…..this plane is without question one out of respect for him I will definitely build….such a surprise and yet a brilliant plane….l got a couple of the Eduard ones when they were released but will definitely without doubt get this.
The Lysander Mk III, had a Mercury XX or Mercury XXX engine with a top speed of 212mph. Apparently even the USAAF used them. That would be a colour scheme worth considering.
I have the Linberg/HAWK one in my stash. I hope they make it available here in the States so I can do a bad-vs.-good comparison build. The Hawk one only costs $11, so I don't think it's going to be anywhere as good as the new Airfix one.
Great stream guys. I’ve probably mentioned this before but I mainly build wooden ships although as a kid I loved Airfix. I do enjoy your streams and channels.
@@MOS6510Models I don't know how it would measure up today. I remember the kit from the sixties. Even then it was challenge to get the wings and the landing gear to stay in place while the glue dried, Even if the moulds were still in existence whether they would be useable I suppose would be the question. Best regards, Eric.
Hopefully Airfix releasing /two/ 1:48 scale kits in 48 hours, the R&D and production of which must have cost millions, will finally put to bed all the comments about them being in financial difficulty. Oh, and neither of them were Spitfires. Like them or not Spitfires sell, and a company in financial trouble would invest money in /them/ not in two /other/ aircraft. TBH MOS I think it's a very good move of Airfix not to have the Lysander or Sea King at Telfird. That entirely dodges the possibility of the negative publicity should they run out of stock. My only concern about Airfix increasing production to meet demand is the potential for a concomitant increase in QC issues which are already a problem.
Nice chat Mos. Lysander, didn’t see that coming. Not in my range but I might be tempted if I had the time. Well done on the aircrew. Plenty of scope for dioramas etc and it’s a WW2 subject so quite a wide variety of models will be interested. Will probably sell better long term than the Gannet. All the best mate, Ian
I have real bags and a lot of them. I have a friend who buys the kislux we put them side by side and guess what ?! Itâs unbelievable!!! I am at the Chanel boutique with her and no one can tell she has a fake
I recall a Tv fictional series in the 60's about the SOE which involved insertion and extraction of agents into occupied France The Lysander was the star of the show.
I recommend reading the history of No. 2 (AC) Squadron, for the exploits of the Lysanders in France, they were used for all sorts. Nice that they have given the option of open spats that were useful when the ground was muddy. History is by Hans Onderwater and is ISBN1-85310-351-9, great book.

lots said the same, the eduard one is a bit hit and miss apparently
Have just been checking out Garys Stuff box review...looks like a real nice kit 👍
The Lysander is a MUST!

sounds like a great scheme that airfix should look into
Really good choice by Airfix of the 1/48 scale Lysander looking forward to seeing it here in New Zealand when the model arrive here.
they are working on their global distribution
Great show Mos

thanks for watching.. wooden ships is something i might have a go at one day..
Back in the sixties Airfix had a 1/72 Lysander that obviously predates the Matchbox kit.
I was wondering if it was a in their back catalogue.. i guess the old one wont be in the Classics range now

Yes ten tools in 2 years is around a million quid in development i guess...
A Lysander in 1/32? That falls into ICM's ballpark I think. (or maybe Revell - should they relinquish their obsession with ancient Matchbox molds.)
yeah.. not airfix scale at all
Nice chat Mos.

In the wise words of Homer Simpson. 'Boring'.
