He does look like a flat coated retriever, but he is a Labrador retriever mix. He's not quite the same build as a flat coat, he looks more like the pure bred golden retrievers! But I could see where you could get him confused for a flat coat, but no, he is not one. Those sure are beautiful dogs though!
