Many thanks for this video. I managed to fix my VW Passat Allroad -16 thanks to this video. It has saved me at least 8000sek

5K0953569B but after the last 9 there are different letters BE, D depending on models but also on the same Sharan mk2 etc ; does this letter matter for it to work?

Sometimes it does. I bought an electronic pump module with a different letter at the end once and it didn't work, so you would have to somehow double check or see what VW is selling. If they are still selling the part with the same letter as what was original then you will likely need the exact same letter.

If the calibration is incorrect, will this cause the car to turn left or right while driving? With the appearance of the yellow steering light and the slip light?

No, steering doesn't work by itself in this car.

I'm not sure you can find it separate from the box. That's why I fixed it.

Great video, did the same to my Sharan. Now the controls working but the airbag light is still on. How did you fix the shorted connector? Best regards

Thanks! You will probably need to plug in an OBD II tool and clear the fault for that light to go off. I had to. (The shorted connector is not a fault. It clears as soon as you connect the plug. It's a security feature - probably so that a static charge doesn't go to the airbag as you plug/unplug it and cause it to go off.)

@@RobertMatlock001 Hi, great video ! I had exactly the same issue, Sharan of the same year as well. Because of your video I've been encouraged to do the same repair. The estimate from the VW garage was around 600 EUR. 300 EUR for the slipring, and 300 EUR for work. Thanks to your video, I did it without needing to get a new slipring. Al buttons work and everything, but even though cleared the errors with OBDeleven , ... now there is an error :Driver airbag igniter short circuit to B+ , error B100012 and static. I've disconnected the battery for a while, ... didn't help.
@hardjim ... did you solve the problem? Any ideas @RobertMatlock001 ? Best

Great to learn the video helped!
I used to be able to clear it with an older OBD tool, even before fixing the buttons. After fixing I still had to clear it.
I'm not sure obd11 has the full functionality of the other tool. If all plugs are plugged correctly the short should clear. You can test each wire for continuity over the plug with the harness and across the wires over the plug (if you know what I mean) to see if the short has cleared. (if still showing shorted are you sure the soldering is definitely not touching? 😅) Hope you find the problem.

Once everything is fixed correctly you still have to clear the airbag light.
Basically as soon as you unplug the airbag, the light will go on and will not reset until the fault code is cleared.

Hi, yes I did solve it with another odb reader; Icarsoft. In the second clearing i also switched on the passenger airbag in the glove compartment. Not sure if it did make a difference, but try if you have it switched off. Best regards and thanks again OP.
