  • I continue down the dark and twisted side of the Core Twenty with Lamashtu, the mother of monsters.
Lamashtu is the goddess of monstrocity and nightmares, and revels in the destruction of all things beautiful. She was once a demon lord of substantial power, but ascended to divinity by killing a god and absorbing his strength. She occupies herself by breeding new and increasingly terrible offspring, then unleashing them upon the Great Beyond.

I do agree its amusing pazuzu hates her so much that he does good deeds to spite her.
I do also think its odd their isn't a fertility domain given their is deities of it and is a important aspect of nature even if in this case its heavily corrupted form of it, nor does s it always related to sex but also things like agriculture and similar yet they have a lust domain in the game.

I had a friend who was playing a devotee of lamashtu, he played more into the part of exposing corruption. Showing the darkness that often harbors in people more fortunate. Surprisingly good way of playing a good aligned follower of lamastu.

that is excellent! i personally focus on her being the god of outcasts and with it the first one who will give hospitality for whose who are left out (being bullied is to qualify as an outcast), she doesn't care about appearance but what is benith, she only offers Acceptance like a Mother to a Child.
(even if as a persion she is a Demon Demon, i really love finding the good in the evil gods and to a lesser extent the evil in good gods, it's the corruption of their ideas)

@@theprinceofawesomeness but also, like reality, persistantly staying an outcast only leeds to ruin. you must find peace eventualy or you will fall apart. theres a good and bad to every deity.... exept xagygyrag, only good there. (homebrew deity of adventure and entertainment)

@@theprinceofawesomeness have a character that is trying to build a cult to her alter ego. she deliberately try's to make people pursue their desires those with weak wills should become consumed by their pursuit and be thrown out by polite society and thats when my pc offers out her hand to bring them into the fold she wont outcast them as long as they worship the alter ego.

@@theprinceofawesomeness I have a character trying to establish a "community" centered around her alternate persona. She convinces individuals to pursue their desires, and when those lacking in resolve are overwhelmed by their pursuits and rejected by polite society, my character extends a helping hand. As long as they pledge allegiance to the alter ego, she promises not to abandon them like society did.

I love how even the very worst deities have some "good" in them. protecting the freaks is a noble cause

my version of Lamastu is not entirely monsterus evil in the worship of her, although she as a "person" is a demon she is still the Goddess of outcasts and for some the only one who'll give them hospitality, she's there those who are left out can find shelter, her domains are not entirely evil as ideas and i don't like the fact that she can't embody the good parts as well, i mean she is the mother (the monster part here is silent) and for some the only mother they will ever have, in a world focused on appearance, achievements and other Vain things, Lamastu is there offering anyone who will follow her the mothers acceptance for nothing in return

You can't just drop the words 4 goblin hero gods and expect me not to beg for a video on them!

There's only like 2-3 pages of lore on them. Probably worth a Short, though.

There's not many details, but here's the sparknotes!
Hadregash: Lesser goblin deity of slavery, tactics and exploitation. He's the one who taught the goblins their cunning, and he believes in total goblin supremacy. Every other race is inferior to him.
Venkelvore: Lesser goblin deity of consumption. She's afflicted with a perpetual, unending hunger. Oddly enough, she's also stated to be beautiful for a goblin, although it's unclear if that means she's beautiful to goblins (with their odd standards) or generically beautiful, which is very strange for a goblin.
Zarongel: Lesser goblin deity of dog-murder (i'm not kidding). He invented goblin dogs, oversized rodents who despise canines and serve as goblin mounts. He has a mane of fire, gifted to him by Lamashtu.
Zogmugot: Lesser goblin deity of salvage, drowning, and sea glass. She can watch through sea glass and other flotsam that washes up on shores, and her blessing manifests as a goblin finding excellent trash to use for crafting (or eating)
As the strongest barghests in history, they were in a transactional relationship with Asmodeus. Sort of like mercenaries, if they were horrible demon goblins. Those they killed turned into goblins, which fueled his army, and he gave them people to kill. Eventually, though, Lamashtu tempted them away with offers of the ability to do as they please, free of Asmodeus' bindings. Now they work under her and function kinda like heralds. Which is why most goblins worship her! It's part of their deal, I believe. (I also believe there's a slight error in this video's info about them. Basalfaest was part of Hell, not a newly made home, but Lamashtu plucked it from there, dropped it in the Outer Rifts and made it more to their shared liking)
Unfortunately, they're not in PF2E yet, but they CAN grant cleric abilities in 1st edition. They kinda conflict with the more morally neutral route they're taking with 2e goblins, so I don't know if they'll come back, at least not without substantial changes, but maybe we'll see them again!

Lamashtu (Or as my goblin cleric called her, Nasty Lamashtee) is my favorite demon in all of TTRPGs. Everything about her is just the worst in the most intresting way. As a embodiment of chaotic evil should be.

Yikes, that almost throwaway idea you gave of followers inflicting themselves with parasites to represent birth is so absolutely horrific. Part of me really wants to use it now. The rest of me feels like I'd gross myself out with my own character descriptions!
