I think its dangerous to overly simplify food to its calorie count and call it better because its lower. I wish this marketing would go away.

    • @TessaBain
      @TessaBain หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Within reason it is kind of the thing that matters most though.
Your body has a set amount of calories that it burns every day which basically doesn't change.
The vast majority of people making excuses about losing weight are just eating too much. Calories.
Exercise is useful for keeping your body working, but it doesn't really do anything because your body just re-appropriates where it would have used those calories.
If you use a hundred more calories exercising, that's a hundred calories that your immune system or your lungs didn't get, not 100 extra calories burned.
Obviously, the nutrients matter, but with normal eating you generally aren't going to need to supplement or get too much of anything meaning it just comes back to calories for most.

@@TessaBain A 1cm cube of pure arsenic has way fewer calories than an apple, so it must be healthier... right? Naw, fam, the oversimplification is still bad. Nobody here is saying that calories don't matter or only matter a little bit. What we're complaining about is the *focus* on only the calories or other surface-level things. 'Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain' and all that. We still should call out dangerous and unhealthy ingredients, even if the calorie count is 'lower'. Doesn't matter if a foodstuff has a decent calorie count if it'll give me cancer or destroy my liver.
Then there's the exercise bit... Exercise is useful for more than just keeping your body working. Increasing muscle mass and endurance (to a point) can improve the average person's quality of life in a number of ways. Without exercise, ya might have trouble lifting a 20-pound bag of rice. There's also the benefits of endorphins, eye-hand coordination, and the reduction in risk for certain degenerative conditions.
Finally, the part where you acknowledge that 'nutrients matter'. Exactly. They do. And a lot of companies (including Mr. Beast and Prime) don't talk about their products' nutrients. Which is the issue. You get nutrients galore from fresh veggies and fruits, but what do you get from a Lunchly? What do you get from other preservative-laced, fruit/veg-deprived, pre-made 'meals'? Getting enough calories won't prevent scurvy, yo.
Honestly, I could keep picking apart your comment, but I'm not interested. It seems there's a lot you don't know about nutrition, diet, and the human body. While it can be hard to sort through the manipulative lies online, I hope you get the chance to read through or listen to stuff posted by people who really know what they're talking about and aren't just trying to hawk a product or service. Learning more about how the human body works is an important first step toward taking better care of yourself.

      @Hat_With_A_Hat_On หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      @@LancerR890
How does it benefit the consumer exactly?
People are too poor to afford healthy food, so they have to eat cheap food.
The cheapest food is better for the consumer financially, but much worse health wise.
The food companies have to keep prices competitive, and the nature of reality means healthy food is more expensive for them too.
      Nobody wins here except them.
The customer gets something they don't actually want and isnt good for them. They just get it cheaper, or slightly healthier.
Even worse, kids who have the resources to eat healthy want it because of a parasocial relationship with the creators. Nobody wins then either. The consumer actively loses lol.
Capitalism doesn't require products actually be useful or beneficial, it only requires them to be in demand, and it doesn't care why or where that demand comes from.
Jewelry is a great example of that.
I just saw a video about how diamonds aren't actually rare, and aren't actually valuable. But they're worth a lot of money, because people decided they were valuable based on nothing but marketing gimmicks.
No one wins there but the people selling diamonds.
We get manufactured traditions costing us two months salary for no real reason.
Capitalism isn't good because it's good, it's good because it works better than anything else to motivate people to work.
If I have four bad options, the best one isn't "good".
America really dumbed down what Capitalism actually is, and it's function.

I was unhoused for a while as a kid, my mom had left an extremely abusive marriage and we lived in a battered women's shelter for a while. That's why the story of the staff taking advantage of the trips doesn't surprise me in the least. It was a well known thing that anything deemed "too nice" that was donated to the shelter was immediately taken by the staff for themselves or their families. If anyone complained they were written up for being "violent" or causing a "disturbance" something that could get you kicked out of the shelter. The staff regularly abused these rules to further victimize the people under their "care" and there wasn't anything you could do about it except for wait until you had another place to live. The control the staff had over our lives was absolute. They decided when we could eat, sleep, go outside, how loud we were allowed to be, and what level of "justice" we were allowed when we were wronged. Literally any infraction to their imposed rules was met with threats of being kicked out which, to women and children leaving the kind of violence that was common in their previous living situations, was tantamount to a threat of death. It's already exceptionally difficult for someone to leave a domestic abuser, but for the staff to continue that abuse was horrific and traumatizing. I'm 40 now and I still remember when I was around 10 and my mom being threatened with expulsion because I was playing too loud. I'm sure not every shelter is like this but the system is very much set up to allow abuses and dehumanize the people who need these services.

From my experiences and other friends, this seems to be about right with shelters. A lot of shelters aren't even publicly run per se, but they are publicly funded meaning like they're generally religiously run. And if you don't participate and they're religious, praying before eating there and all that kind of stuff, you can also get kicked out and it's funded by the public because they get grant money from the government from our taxes.. And I swear to God.The people who work in some of these shelters aren't much better than high school dropouts, but they have to do a job where they feel like they're so much better than someone else.So they pick homeless shelters and abuse shelters where people can't really fight back and just need a place to sleep. They also tend to work at places like job corp Which don't get me wrong is kind of a great program. But when you've got only people from 16 to 24 in your program. You've literally got 16 and 20 four-year-old sneaking. Off and having sex. You've got so much c*** going on and it is so chaotic. But then the staff tries to lock you down and watch you 24/7 to make sure you're not acting like a crazy 16-year-old away from home for the first time which most of them are. Don't get me wrong. There are kids who take good advantage of the educational programs that job corps offers. And they're good people who take advantage of the homeless and the shelters help. But there's still a lot of people who have been gypped so many times even by the system that they're too sour or they don't care anymore. And then you've got other people who feel like they've got to be better than someone in some way shape or form, whether it's they're better than them, because at least I'm not some rich smuck, or they're better than them, because well, at least I'm. Not some homeless bums. There are people like that And places that continue to treat people like c***Tend to only keep people who are able to be treated like c*** until they can get out or people who don't expect anything else out of life anymore. So you get a lot of pessimism and depression focused in these areas too

I see the ones that are responsible for you getting fat over eating tons of lunchables for breakfast, lunch, and dinner is either you, or your parents. Depending on how much responsibility you think a kid can have over themselves.
Unless you were buying a lunchables on a regular basis with your allowance money, chances are your parents were the ones buying them for you. So I think it's your parents fault and not the corporation that you chose to shove that food down your throat and that your parents chose to buy it for you just to shut you up.
I saw a lot of shit I wanted in commercials as a kid. Guess what, I never got a single God damn one of them except for the occasional lunchable if they even felt like getting that with the groceries.
The problem isn't lunchables or the corporation behind them. The problem is that your parents didn't know how to tell you no. And that you never learned how to consume with proper moderation. Don't go blaming the corporation for your own faults.
and I'm not defending a million-dollar corporation just for the sake of defending a million-dollar corporation. There's plenty of scummy shit you can blame them for. Your own/parents bad decisions are not one of them.

As another developer, it really is not that bad of a security bug.
Being possible to submit an incomplete form is not really a bug, and rather an expected attack (truly malicious actors will ignore the front-facing ui entirely and send custom http requests). *The backend is **_obviously_** going to have some serious validation going on,* and not putting too much effort & money on the front-end blocking people from sending bad requests, is entirely the right choice when given a limited budget.
To put the security bug into perspective: imagine handing out forms to people they can fill in and mail in, with some fields labeled as required. Then it would be like calling it "a serious security bug" when you find out people are mailing in incomplete form where some of those fields are left empty.
So no, it was not a bad security bug. Had the people reporting those bugs added mentions that the requests went through on the backend and they received those confirmation letters, _then_ it would be a serious security bug. Because that would have meant the validation were done on the clientside.
Bigger issue than the security bug, was the first part. Where they simply created an unsecured feature for anyone to request sensitive information.

The US is notorious for installing puppets in governments they've upended and finding ways to quietly strong-arm smaller/younger countries into capitulating to the demands of US corporations. If the US *were* looking to assassinate the dictator of Venezuela, it wouldn't be to your benefit. Venezuela would still likely be financially strained among other things. If the pager explosion attacks were done by Hezbollah or Hamas, you bet that every Western country would be condemning the attack as terrorism. But Israel hasn't received such criticism even though the attack was intentionally destructive. Regardless of whether Israel targeted only Hezbollah's pagers, there was no way to know the pagers were being carried by a member of Hezbollah at the time of explosion, nor could they know if that pager was not in a space surrounded by innocent civilians. And there is evidence that these pagers were used by non-Hezbollah citizens such as faculty at the American University Beirut's Medical Centre, whose pagers were affected and were replaced at the time of the explosive pagers' sales. It's insane that the impact of these explosions on Lebanese civilians is being so minimized when that would absolutely be the focus if this happened to Israel instead.

I’ve consistently found that believing any celebrity is infallible and an “icon” is always unhealthy and never works out. Even you Mr Defranco, while I love and appreciate your work the idea of getting into actual arguments over your work with strangers on the internet is just a weird concept to me.
Mr Beast is a massive TH-camr and no one gets that big without certain corners being cut. This goes for everyone and while it disappoints me every time this situation happens, I can’t say im overly surprised.

The difference between lunchables and lunchly is that lunchables doesnt have a youtube channel with millions of subscribers. Logan(and his brother) have been scamming kids and parents since before the suicide forest incident. All they're interested in is growing their wealth using the parasocial relationship they have with their subscribers. This is just another example.

Not sure what Samantha the dietitian is talking about. The question is to compare lunchly to lunchables. Obviously the processed food is more unhealthy than non processed food. Also saying potassium is unimportant for children doesn’t make sense. The health difference for Americans between sodium and potassium is night and day.
