    Thanks a million for taking the time to decribe and demonstrate these details. I probably have 100 hours watching the double fold system being installed in Russian, Ukrainian & German. Ive picked up an equivalent amount of knowledge during an hour on your channel. Truly appreciated.

    Word.
    I guess you’ve been watching the metal maniac.
    You’ve come a long way brah.
    Last year you were using z closures and apron flashing on all your transitions. Now you put in the time and effort to actually have a true double lock system.
    Respect. Keep up the good work.
    I’m a roofer too. 35 years. I work for myself since 1994 and I don’t advertise at all. No hoodies, no t shirts, cards. Nothing. Only referrals. Someone has to give you my number. It’s primitive but it weeds out the “hi do you do free estimates@? Calls.
    Cheers. I noticed. Good job skip

    Thanks and good luck on your channel growth. It took us quite a while to get our 4,000 watch hours. We are going to use these techniques to make our metal flashings and small flat roofs on our castle.

    I'm looking on steetz for the deep benders that you have, and there are several different types ! Lots of offsets, Deep crimping pliers, and 4 types of the regular deep throat benders, box joint and lap joint ! Which am I looking to get my friend !

    I am doing a standseam roof on my little house this year. I have looked at all the extra crap that is made for going around a chimney. Not really liking it. This, on the other hand, looks top notch. First, are you going to do a video on finishing at the top? Second, do you think it's possible to do this without a sheet metal brake? My chimney is off to one side, so the roof doesn't fully surround it. Also, how well does this detail fare against snow?
    Great videos and overall great info on this channel!! Keep it up.

    • @asm101
      @asm101  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Love seeing comment like this...yes it is possible to do this without a brake but you can always rent one somewhere...make sure ask the capabilities of the brake you rent ie. what Guage can be bent in it
      As for snow this detail is great because there is no actual notching of the metal itself...thus snow can accumulate anywhere and not affect anything

    It appears the seam is blocking (bucking water) the flow water on the left side of the chimney ? Do you smash that seam down?

    • @asm101
      @asm101  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the seam will get turned down then formed into a male seam to recieve the next full panel

    I don’t know in theory after watching this video where do you end up with a pin point in the bottom corner where you end up with a pin point at the top by the water check no matter what you lose your going to end up with a pinhole

    • @asm101
      @asm101  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only leak point is where the metal ends up the walls of the chimney

    Please, do a video of a window when the seams of the panels don't coincide with the jambs.

    Honestly in home sales silicon valley... 3 or more people with metal roofs had leaks..no one would fix their roof they did not have the special tooling.. not once 3 or more times.. almost as bad as reverse osmosis destroying kitchen sub floors down to joists... lost a lot of jobs on that.. but reality it was depressing listening to customer and their leaky roof... not repairable... that's a 40k fix.. it seems metal roofs have special tooling..but their last company is bankrupt.. that just sucks.. nice people too..

    • @asm101
      @asm101  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Really crappy situation...and I always say this...the customer is the one that suffers in the end...as someone who has sonehwat of a moral compass I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing that I had caused that...but if this installer is ok with giving us craftsman a bad name he shouldn't be allowed to install metal...maybe he would be better off watching some TH-cam videos 😉👍
