Not too bad ! It’s a shame Virginie didn’t take the bow at the end. She was part of Chanel for decades and did what she was able to do after Karl’s passing. She deserved a real goodbye. Even I didn’t like her style, at all, I think she can be proud of herself. It was a huge responsibility with a lot a pressure.
By the way, Karl Lagerfeld attended a drawing school before completing an apprenticeship as a tailor. And Christian Dior was a trained diplomat and gallery owner. Both examples of career changers in fashion design. Coco Chanel learned to sew from nuns at a home economics school. She had not opprtunity to study design.
Did Virginie put all those big black bows on the models? Was that her final bow? I have many Chanel bows, some going back 30 years (some with camellias too), but here most were simply too large and there were too many. Is this to be the RTW signature accessory bit for the collection? This was a collection of lovely tweeds and beautiful fabric textures. Elegant and beautiful colours with exquisite tailoring and details. Virginie was praised for completing the set of the Chanel sleeve - it was one of Mlle’s pet peeves. This fifth collection is so very wearable and collectible - with sleeves set correctly as they should be in Haute Couture. A true display of recognizable CHANEL. Well done Virginie .
Virginia Viard quit probably also because the corporate could not stand anymore Sofia Coppola, who meddled in the Chanel business ever so annoyingly too much…

Let's face it, there will never be another Karl Lagerfeld, and this rather boring and frumpy, very 1980's-like collection further serves to prove it. Virginie Viard was not the right person to place at the helm of Chanel. We need an innovator, like Karl was, a designer with vision and inventiveness. I'm glad this was Virginie's last collection for Chanel. I don't think she will be greatly missed.
This comment shows your lack of knowledge regarding Chanel. Karl Lagerfeld was all bout showing off his ego, he even said Gabrielle Chanel wouldn't like his collections. Virginie Viard was the one who kept Gabrielle's legacy alive.
@@zeitgeist7788 @zeitgeist7788 And your comment shows your complete naïveté about the 'business' of the House of Chanel. Karl revived the brand to levels never before seen, and his designs appealed to the young as well as to more mature women. He didn't just 'copy' Chanel, he re-invented Chanel, while staying true to its fundamental design philosophy.
