Fun fact: the guy with the violin at the end is actually a Venezuelan violinist famous for playing in protests against the Venezuelan regime and had to leave the country after getting arrested and beaten up.
In America we all have dances at school from the time we're young. I remember going to the first school dance at 11 years old and asking a date.. bought her a corsage and everything you're supposed to do at a dance. There's a lot of dancing movies in our culture. And it is the country that invented bluegrass, country, rock and roll and hip Hop so
Yup I grew up doing tap and ballet, then in high school I was in the dance and cheer squad! Tap dance I believe originated in the US, though it was inspired by Irish step dancing. The theory of it's origins is that when the US was a young country Irish immigrants happened to have more contact with black Americans, especially during the industrial revolution which inspired the great migration; where black Americans moved from the rural south to the cities, because that was where the most work was, which is why the Irish immigrants were in these cities in the east coast as well, so it is likely that people saw Irish immigrants step dancing and decided to put their own spin on the dance. Gregory Hines one of the best tap dancers ever talked about this in the 80s dance movie White Nights which he starred in with Mikhail Baryshnikov
What about England? The land that brought you Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Beatles, The Smiths, The Cure, The Clash, The Sex Pistols, The Jam, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Radiohead, Genesis, The Police, Oasis, Blur, Richard Ashcroft, David Bowie, Electric Light Orchestra, Queen, Supertramp etc. etc.
Those dudes that work on the bridges are so bad ass. Those things vibrate and sway and they climb up to the top. Those guys and window washers do not earn enough!
If you can avoid it, stay off the subway all together. It’s a different world down there. Once I get off the LIRR I take Uber or Lyft. Also avoid the LIRR during baseball season. The drunk Yankees fans can be annoying.
The greatest NYC subway incident is when that young woman started insulting some 7 ft guy on the subway for the way he dresses. When he said something back to her she hit him in the face with the heel of her shoe. He literally reached back and smacked the soul right out of her body. The sound is incredible! The woman had him arrested and then the video got leaked and they let him go and arrested her. th-cam.com/video/HYbGLye3io4/w-d-xo.html
In New York City, it is the home of so many famous (and various) dance schools. Many people move from all over the world to study dance in NY. Also, the guy playing the violin was in Times Square, that is very close to Broadway (which of course has many professional dancers)(I guess it is like "The West End" in London, although I'm not sure what "The West End" looks like). Those 4 guys passing by could very well be Broadway dancers hanging out on a night off.
Im from Brooklyn, NY and I can assure you most are not artists. Just a big city with 8 million people and some eccentrics trying to stick out. Some are performers maybe tring to get discovered but its not too unusual to see something abnormal lol
I grew up in NYC and IDK what it's like in public school elsewhere in the US, but we had informal dance competitions at lunchtime every week, for which most of us practiced at recess the rest of the week. I guess New Yorkers gotta stay warm in the winter SOMEhow, right?
Dancing is culture related. I grew up in the Great Plains where everyone can 2 step and some can transition to free style but it's mostly saved for wedding dances. In NYC nearly no one can 2 step, everyone can free style and there's much more social pressure to dance and they are much better dancers. In the Hispanic communities I was in, dance is a cornerstone of their culture and they put everyone else to shame.
I was coming back from a lunch break in the Tribeca area of Manhattan and a huge rat ran and jumped on my foot mid-step and used my foot like a trampoline to bounce itself up to a platform it wouldn't have been able to reach without me and this all took place in a matter of 2 seconds. NY rats are frighteningly intelligent. He plotted on me and pulled his plan off without a hitch.
Re: Mini-horses... The only assistance animals specifically listed in the Americans with Disabilities Act are dogs and miniature horses. So, if one is afraid of dogs or allergic, a mini-horse is an alternative. Also less likely to be distracted by squirrels and pigeons lol
I live in BK, and when I worked in Manhattan I would ride certain trains according to time of day if I had a choice. You can tell the trains mainly by the seats they have.
NYC is definitely not just Hilton, Marriott hotels and spotting celebrities. It's real out here. You have to be resourceful and keep your head up to make it.
In Detroit, dance and music have always been s big part of our culture. Dances at school, everybody dances at parties, competitive dance, ethnic dance groups and music everywhere. Plus, being a good dancer ups your game considerably.
Need to check out Rico Freeman videos on Facebook....especially his "Gym Flow" videos! The characters could be from New York or Florida!! Also some of his other good ones are "My first day as a substitute teacher", "This is my last time babysitting these kids", "Things you can see at church", and "I need to find a new church in 2021"! All are awesome!!
It has nothing to do with owning a car. I have a car but take the subway. It beats spending 2hr in traffic, when I get to the same place in 45 minutes.
6:31- The silly optimist would view that as the rat going to bury his friend. The realist pessimist would view that as the rat dragging it's new take-away meal to it's lair.

Daaaamn!!! NY subways really are ghetto. Philly subways are ghetto too but NY ghetto is level 5 dammit!! We don't have non if this in Philly. Just crackheads but they always chilling. No one's doing crazy stuff.
Uh, there are car owners all over NYC. It has some of the worst car traffic in the country. Street parking is mostly free and people always have trouble finding a parking spot, because there are so many cars.
Americans do DANCE better than the "Brits" Remeber the States started and formed by the UK but over the hundreds of years, other immigrants came over and continued in bringing in dance moves as well as cooking!!!!🤣🤣🤣
An inch of snow brings NYC area to a screeching halt. They will cancel school whenever an inch or more is predicted. It once took my coworkers 5 hours to drive 8 miles home from work. I saw what was going to happen and drove straight to a mall and shopped for a few hours and then spent about an hour driving the 8 miles. I got home the same time they did.
This is all wrong. An inch of snow is not enough to bring to a halt the city. That’s a very common amount during the winter and no one would blink an eye. Schools will only close if there is a blizzard or an extreme amount of snow predicted. If it’s enough for the MTA to halt service then they will start closing schools and much of the city will follow suit. The accident on the bridge is because NYers drive like mad men on a good day and often don’t care to take precautions for weather, especially not on the GWB where accidents are common.
@@limiabean Oh, I think I get the disconnect.......what you call a "blizzard" is nothing....NOTHING like an actual blizzard like I grew up with out in the middle. I never once experienced an actual blizzard in all the years I lived in New York. There were a few good winter storms.......but mostly, just snow.
Fun fact: the guy with the violin at the end is actually a Venezuelan violinist famous for playing in protests against the Venezuelan regime and had to leave the country after getting arrested and beaten up.

New York is a fabulous city to visit. Stay off the subway after dark.
Yea New York is pretty good, just never freaking roam the streets after 12am.
You have to know where you’re going. I’ve taken the subway plenty of times by myself at night and I’m a woman.

I would bet that the two people in costume are on their way to New York Comic Con. My kids and I go every year and ride that long escalator.
