Yes, the Attention Star needed some love for me too. Took awhile for me to warm up to it. I ended up cracking the Reacta Gloss finish with a 3000 pad and forced myself to throw a lot of games with it. Now it's a keeper and always in my bag.
I haven’t liked the Attention star out of box maybe 10 games on it. I was going to try a 5000 pad but someone said try 3000 and let it get lane shine. I bowl at a house with a lot of dry and cliff. It only works on Fresh out of box. I’m afraid to knock the gloss off though
@@Kurtkapelke if you haven't liked it, then you really don't have anything to lose by changing the surface. Worst case scenario is that you still don't like it. You can always polish it again.
@@Jonas-kr3on the Attention Star comes polished (shiny). Reacta Gloss is the name of that polish. I took a 3000 grit sanding pad and scuffed up the ball, which is basically removing (cracking) the Reacta Gloss polish. Doing that makes the ball hook a little earlier.
So many balls in the same vicinity makes it impossible to figure out which one you should buy. As soon as you decide OK I’m gonna buy this one….boom another one comes out! 😂
Thanks for the video. Im learning to not judge a ball until I bowled a good 4 to 5 games with it, allowing the ball to break in. And as you have said many times, change the surface.
Attention Star is good. For me, it's not as good as the X-2 was. I'm almost to the point of just drilling a 3rd X-2. The AI core makes it roll heavier/more directional. The clean/quick but more rounded shape has been missing from the SPI lineup. I.e. X-2 and UC2
Personally I love my A.S. especially sanded down to a 2k. Helped me tame down the backend pop and help it read more in the middle rather than the end of the lane. Went from HARD 2-10's and 4-6's on pocket hits.
My only issue with all the balls coming out/have came out this year is they all feel like they fit the same slot in my bag. Like they have had maybe 1 non monster hooking ball come out this year in the Scorpion Low Flare. Do you have any suggestions outside of the aforementioned Low Flare for a non heavy hooking ball??
@@TheHype-Bowling You are the first person to suggest the Track Blue fire, I was looking at it when it first came out as it was inexpensive compared to many new balls. Thanks for the help, keep on striking.
CHARLES!!! This was a good comparison IMO. I picked up an Attention Star and plan to drill it in the next week or two…and The One Reverb is/was on my list. I got to throw the Harsh Reality Pearl and Optimum Idol Pearl at Demo Day a few weeks ago and actually liked the Idol Pearl ball motion better (remember I have a quarter of the hand that you do!)😢😂😢😂
I still believe that the Evoke is one of the strongest and is definitely the most versatile ball on the market right now. People just haven’t thrown it as much as the effect, vapo and AS. Check out my EVOKE video on my channel. I threw it in game 7 and 8. I started game 1 with 5 of us practicing at 25, aim at 12 and break at 8. Game 7 and 8, I threw 214 and 234 from 25, aim at 10 and only picked my speed up 1mph. Threw every shot those 2 games including spares with it just to prove a point lol. No other ball that I own can be used this way.
Vaporize and Hammer Effect period! Dont need to change surface on them and they both work. Cant wait for my Reverb picking up on Monday. Attention Star sorry, no need or room for you in the bag 😂

Agreed ball need a little love and now I have some confidence to bring this ball out.

Hey there, I am new to bowling. What does this mean "Cracking the reacta Gloss finish with a 3000 pad"? :)

Yep always something new around the corner.
BIG FACTS!
At this point because of how often balls come out, if you wait long enough you can get a ball on sale/discontinued and only be 1 generation behind.
@Dukeofearl11 thats exactly what I've been doing, just got the eternity Pi on sale lol
How do you find these sales, I'm new and could care less about having the new thing.
The Attention Star is easily my favorite go to ball in my bag.
9:43 definitely wouldve smacked that 10 pin with that carry😂😂
😂
Just got off a cruise and catching up! Seen you on the beach taking photos big dog! Congratulations on the new addition!
I love this ball attention

Hey Charles, how about a comparison between the pure envy, Ion max, and Sublime focus.

Bro I don't know what you talking bout or seeing, that Hammer Effect hitting on oily or dry. My opinion it's ball of the year.
Charles that 12 bagger shirt is hard...you selling that one
Woah! 👀 As an artist that gets paid to draw the Ninja Turtles, I’m loving that shirt man! 🥷🐢🐢🐢🐢🙌
I’m jealous of your job lol

Tundra blue fire, ion pro, pink venom all are smoother balls.

What did you refinish the Attention Star to? Back to factory?
500, 1000, polish
@@TheHype-Bowling which polish, if you don't mind my asking?
I need that shirt😮😂👍🤙@@TheHype-Bowling
