For a camera with a gimbal built in, d-log, 4k 120fps for 4-5x less of a price compared to the zv-e1, it’s an amazing value. Plus it’s smaller, lighter and you can mount it to almost anything without the bulk.
It’s great for what it is but I find it impossible to get natural sky colours, even on the DJI Mini4 and Action4, the sky always looks a weird almost cyan blue. DJI need a DLogM2 to address this.
@@BogdanGraurNetworkfor a beginner, the pocket 3 hands down. For vlogging, that’s all you’ll need. If you want to try a mirrorless camera, get an apsc first. I have an apsc, and I have never brought it outside since getting the pocket 3.
The chromatic aberration at 1:58 (look at the far right edge) is why I did not get the anamorphic lens. I use the Black Mist for everything though. What it does to highlights and especially the sun, is magical. I shot some women talking on the beach with the sun behind them in the frame and it was so cinematic I forgot I was using a camera that looks more like a flashlight than a camera. Thanks for this review Kasey!
I prefer the larger depth of field on the dji for street blog so stuff in the background is in focus but the Sony is a killer setup. Both of these cameras are fantastic. 9:26 Wow
I knew from the start which camera was which but it still took me longer than I care to admit to comprehend when he turned to the side and showed the cameras. 😂
I got the DJI and haven't brought my Sony out for an on the go vlog with me since... the sony looks better for sure but its so much heavier! You had me cracking up with the Disney stuff, I live near Disney World and vlog there a lot lol and I'm not on an all soup diet but my arms are very weak lol
It always amuses me a bit when people get so worked up about video specs, when most people end up watching posts from TH-cam videos on pretty bad screens, and end up skipping through the footage anyhow. Most people do not watch TH-cam videos on reference grade monitors! Also sound and what people are saying is usually more important than the footage itself from a Vlogging perspective?
I have both now (was holding out for an A7S3 but they were still full price & the 4 didn't seem to be coming, so picked up the pocket, but then the ZVE1 went on sale, lol), they're awesome, but for different things. One amazing thing about the Pocket is the form factor. You can get a clip/arm & attach it to a music stand, or a table off in the corner, to record yourself, your band etc., without drawing as much attention to the camera as you would with a bulky camcorder, let alone a full frame mirrorless w/lens, screen open etc... It's also great with the app, you can aim the pocket remotely, so while it's attached to a wall, you can move the camera around & frame your shot, sound is pretty decent too. Also, when walking around, you can hold it with your arm down & the lens pointing forward, and its just this little thing protruding, like you're holding a candy bar. Having said all that, the look of the zve1 is amazing... Love your content man!
Vlogging in the streets with two cameras is usually your most entertaining content I think, it’s where your natural talents shine through the most in my opinion. Just wanted to let everyone know my opinion. Bye now.
I really don't like the colors of the DJI but seems like there is still more dynamic range. For the slowmo shots I think it comes to personal preference. I enjoyed the DJI shots more because you have less toneh and you can see more things happening in the background.
Oh, those socially awkward humans holding the adult pacifier that is a smartphone pretending to be too important to possibly make eye contact with another human outside of their own bubble🤣🤣🤣
the roaming infantiles with the pacifiers walking into other infantiles holding pacifiers., but somehow avoiding street posts. its a full on clown world.
DJI Pocket rules for street videos, imho the footage seems more pleasing, especially when doing a 180 from the selfie mode. For a Type 1 inch sensor, it does magic. But if you like bokeh backgrounds then of course the ZV-E1 takes the crown.
The links are broken (at least the first one is) I really enjoyed this episode. I cold tell you had a lot of fun making it. The music was very nice. And the beauty comparison was adorable. Hey man ! Thank you for the amazing battle between those 2. Could you make a video on explaining how you get such amazing stabilization (with the fullframe) 👋🏼 I trust you !
I have both for different use cases. For most of my TH-cam I'll use the ZVE1 and for really good vacation videos, hotel reviews etc. But sometimes you just need the smaller camera. For example I am going to Abu Dhabi- they get funny about 'professional' cameras. Or I don't want any hassle- going on a business trip next week and wanting to film my new EV and how it does on range- cant be bothered taking the full camera for that I don't think so will use the DJI. They complement each other nicely. If i am intending to shoot a lot of low light I would not even begin to take the DJI.
When all was said and done these are the two cameras I ended up with. With a few lenses for the Sony I’m pretty content for a while. Hopefully they don’t roll out a Pocket 4 anytime soon 😬
This is the comparison I was waiting for. Is it a fair comparison given the tony levels available? When you weigh cost and size vs. performance that DJI is hard to beat. Love the rubber boots guy! Why is that guy walking behind you with his hand in his pocket? Seems like what you need is a good pancake size lens for that Sony so you don't have a bazooka hanging off of it. THEN, you're talkin'. How long until you get a white skin for that Sony? Fun times, have a rockin' day!
The Sony definitely zooms (it is a setting you can turn off in stabilization) and another thing that can help with the Sony is register your face. It used to only work for photos, but with the AI chip it also works with videos.
I like the DJI for vlogging better. I’m not a blurry background for vlogging guy. Plus the sky is blue. Just as long as you can keep your face lit up. For everything else, the Sony wins. So keep both.
I have never understood why anyone would buy an interchangeable lens camera for vlogging. Action 4 or Osmo Pocket 3 wins for convenience, DJI mic 2 audio, and image stabilization. Why even put the Pocket on a selfie stick?
dude these cameras didn't exist a year ago. people bought interchangeable cameras because they were the only cameras that brought you broadcast or close to broadcast quality to the consumer. it's all new tech and pocket 3 is the only pocketable camera that has a “one-inch“ sensor with a picture quality that's close to mirror less. ... I put the pocket 3 on a selfie stick because there's 4 microphones and eventually one of my fingers will hit one of those the mics everytime without fail. ... It's also terrible in the wind and I need to come up with a workable solution.
The use of a selfie stick with the OP3 is a must, for tons of reasons. I have a year of intensive use with my OP3 and I can’t live without a selfie stick in many situations. That said, except for portability, discretion and ease of use, Sony wins. It is more fun, offers more control and is WAY more versatile.
I like the sharpness, color science, stabe and frame rate of the Pocket 3. I think it looks better. However, the Sony does give some warmth and Toneh. I think the Dji looks better with the lens change, in my opinion. I think the Dji wins for overall utility but only for vlogging.
Hello Casey, I have been looking for the perfect camera that can do great Landscape Astrophotography time-lapse video's straight out of the camera without having to do it manually in post, any camera suggestions?
Comparing the two cameras is difficult. Both are good, but have different purposes for me. Actually, the ZVE1 is not a vlogging camera at all, but a real camera beast for content creators. I work with interchangeable lenses in full format. Comparing it with the pocket would be unfair. Both are incredibly good cameras, but it just depends on what you want to do
I am a pocket 3 user and am in the market for the ZVE1 for an A cam. Pocket 3 does a better job than you think with skin tone. My suggestion is that my favorite camera guy here eat a steak or 2 to balance things out. 😂 Gen X advice.
It would’ve been perfect if that focus could’ve be turned off. Vlogging is not always that the person needs to be in focus. Sometimes i just want the whole frame/ surroundings to be in focus as well
I almost just got the osmo pocket 3 at Costco's! Amazing Camera and now I feel bad that I didnt pick it up and cant go back to get it now since its too late and the sale ran out today!!! Smh!!!
you know what sucks? When taking pictures of my family on a mountain top with the sunset in the background, my iphone looks way better than either of these cameras! I know its doing some kind of multishot computized fakery, but I can't make the regular cameras look as good as my iphone does in this backlight scenario....
@@silbay I do, if I expose for the subjects the background washes out & if I expose for the background the subject are underexposed. 6:45 Is this a new track by you? I love it and I don't think I have heard it before in a past video. I really dig all of your music actually, can you link to your music page? Thanks for all the great content!
I mean for everything you would need to make content as a talking head and random videos, for the price, DJI is a clear winner. I think a large majority of content creators I actually watch on TH-cam are using their phones LOL. Also, not every creator wants to spend time in post and take advantage of managing lenses etc... so at the end of the day, there really is no advantage the Sony gives them. They are slapping it on Auto mode (standard) and directly uploading. After owning a DJI for 8 months, it was great for little trips and having everything in the palm of your hand to do timelapse, verticals, gimbal, etc. Only downside I noticed, it hates any environment over 75 degrees and will overheat and shut off after 5 min... which is why I think DJI released it in the winter of last year. All the reviews came out within months, and no one even had it in hot environments. DJI obviously knew this.
Why does the DJI look so deep focus / everything in focus? I'm asking because I've seen videos where the 1" and f2 lens achieves some background blurriness at similar distance as seen here
Did we just see The Alien Camera Guy cut scene after seeing a buff dude and his hot chick behind him? NOOOOO WAY BRO CUT SCENE 🎬 THE TUMMY BUG GOT HIM. 😂 bet you wouldn’t have done that if you weren’t distracted while holding the Sony Fdr x3000
I’d most likely use my Fujis for a talking head video but I had used a ZV-1 with a $30 soft box and it worked. Probably could with the P3 if that’s all you had
Does the DJI shoot LOG, or at least a flat profile? If so, why haven't you tried it? Thanks. [Edit: I just got to the part where you said the DJI doesn't expose for your face in LOG. So, NM.] The Sony has a better picture. But its weight makes it a no-go for vlogging. I personally vlog with a GoPro 12 and Ulanzi handle. It's actually pretty good for what I do.

Why does the DJI look so deep focus / everything in focus? I'm asking because I've seen videos where the 1" and f2 lens achieves some background blurriness at similar distance as seen here
I'm holding it further away with a selfie stick.
What is this witchcraft of tracking without a gimbal on the ZVE1?
DJI mirrorless coming soon ... you gonna have stuff to test :D
I use an old school steadicam and glidecam with my pocket 3 for the best smoothest footage
Hey man, should I buy a second hand Sony for x3000 for 285 dollars?
So, NM.]
The Sony has a better picture. But its weight makes it a no-go for vlogging. I personally vlog with a GoPro 12 and Ulanzi handle. It's actually pretty good for what I do.
