I remember The Bruiser back in the mid-60's at The Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles walking around with a short stogie and shouting out * ' Where's my beer ?' *
There's also footage available of Dick the Bruiser v. Bob Orton Jr. Bruiser had incredible longevity. Some might say he stuck around too long, but he's a legend.
I miss those days where you could just sit back, enjoy the carnage, smoke a big thick stogie and guzzle a cold beer while checking out the action! Of course Bruiser would later partner with Wilbur Snyder & Jim Barnett in acquiring the then-NWA Indianapolis territory which would morph into the Indianapolis WWA promotion when he bought the operation, briefly holding memberships in both the AWA & NWA at one point......
I was very surprised to hear that Bruiser was only 5'10. He was always listed at 6'1 but watching these old matches I believe 5'10 is closer to the truth.
They say you never knew what Dick the Bruiser would do. Lol. Sometimes he would follow the script - then get pissed off and start raising hell!! He loved to fight more than football. With wresting he got paid for it.
@@Rjensen2 all wrestling bouts are charted out. "Good guy, bad guy" etc. As with the publicity stunt to promote the match with Alex Karas, he was supposed to go in Alex's bar and get rowdy, it got out of hand.
Dick Afflis got "kicked off" the Packers? I thought that he just didn't make the team. These were the days when Leo Nomellini (look him up - 49ers) used to spend his offseason wrestling. By the way there were a few Dick the Bruisers around, but Dick Afflis was THE bruiser.
That was to make sure their boners didn't "pop" out of the waistband of their trunks, from the rough "dry-humping" action they inconspicuously exhibited in the ring while "rasslin"
Here, Dick basically took "little Dick" for face rides on Orton's mug in between actually wrestling him, until he felt like making Orton submit...I bet "little Dick" left the ring thoroughly "satisfied" and still throbbin between Dick's legs as he strutted back to the locker room, just jutting out of the front of Dick's damp gear...
And apparently his Great Grandfather was a wrestler too…So Randy is 4th generation. The announcer was talking about Bob Orton’s dad wrestling before him..
@@mr.mirchenstein6549 wow thats cool , i wonder if there is any info on him ,ik fit finlay's dad and grandad wrestled but there's little to no info on them

Great match! That's why Bob Jr and Randy Orton are such good workers. They get it from Sr!
Dick the Bruiser, what Can I say. Tough as they come
"Oh, now you're makin' like The Thinker, you stinker."
I love old school wrestling commentary.

Two legitimate tough guys wrestling a great match!
Orton Sr looks more like Randy than Bob jr does
You dont knwo what the heck youre talking about young Orton sr looks the same as Randy.
@@Sam-jb6qc uh...that's what he said.
this is great when wrestling was wrestling
Richard Van Claeave ...but ortons were still phoney, Hmph!!
+Asad Ali that's not the point this was when guys would wrestle and not talk the whole show. Most of the guys today can't even wrestle.
Dick the Brusier was built for wrestling and I think he enjoyed inflicting punishment on another man. Brusier was a mountain of muscle
Bruiser and Bruno held a tag title at one time in CA
Loved watching the bruiser as a kid
Bruiser looks like he could just squeeze the life out somebody.
Dick The Bruiser was SWOLE as hell. Hahahaha. That was a big azz dude. 💪🏽😮
This is what we call a proper wrestling match
2:22 "Orton's father was a wrestler before him". I didn't know that. So Randy is actually a 4th generation wrestler?

I miss him gru up watching him in. The6os
More entertaining than today's cartoonish garbage
Man Dick the bruiser was a mean dude
The Most Dangerous Man In Professional Wrestling !
(Dick The Bruiser) !
So Randy Orton is actually 4th generation? Russ Davis was talking about Bob’s Dad being a wrestler too, before him….
Bob Orton Jr.'s dad is this guy. This was Randy's grandpa.
Russ Davis said a lot of horseshit.
Date: June 1st, 1956 in Dick the Bruiser's cagematch.
Bruiser loved gouging eyes and pulling ears 😅
I was very surprised to hear that Bruiser was only 5'10. He was always listed at 6'1 but watching these old matches I believe 5'10 is closer to the truth.
'Billed height" is usually always around 3" taller than actual height.
He was 5'8. Maybe.
I wonder if Raymond turner ever made it there?
The 50s and 80s are the 2 best decades imo although the 60s and 90s was cool too
Cool submission finish…Don’t see that one anymore! I could see someone like WALTER using it today.
Yeah dude 😎. What is up? You are so right. Man on man action 🔥 R U man enough?
They say you never knew what Dick the Bruiser would do. Lol. Sometimes he would follow the script - then get pissed off and start raising hell!! He loved to fight more than football. With wresting he got paid for it.
Follow the script? What are you talking about?

@@tomdecuca3627 haha...that's absolutely ridiculous.
Another dumbass wrestling fan that believes their little shoot interviews.
All praise is due to Raymond Turner.
I get a kick out of the resemblance between Bob and Randy.
Never got Bruiser till I saw '50s film. He once had a physique and knew a wristlock from a wristwatch. As an older guy he was a joke.

Wasn't Dick Afflis a former Oro Football player for the Detroit Lions ?
For the Green Bay Packers from '51 to '54.
He got his name from Vince lombardi! Truth!!
two big sides of beef here going man2man: back when it took XL trunks to cover XL & worn above the belly button...
That was to make sure their boners didn't "pop" out of the waistband of their trunks, from the rough "dry-humping" action they inconspicuously exhibited in the ring while "rasslin"
Dick had a massive upper body of muscle. He was extremely strong , a true alpha male. He manhandled others do easily .
