We just love this and to spend this time together not always just at work. Big salute to you my friend. Thats the spirit Matt. Its not always perfect with nitro engines but when they work well its just perfect experience and thrill to fly a plane with four stroke engine. Keep me informed about the Decathlon. Captain Blaž aslo have one and he is loving it. Great bird. Be well my friend and see you soon, Robert

    To start Saito without pressure from muffler manual recommends open needle to 3 and 1/2 turn. That was working for my old Saito FA 45 MKII. It start nicely when it gets fuel sucked in.

    I have a Saito FA220 which, like your 180, is a real beast. I use a TY1 high torque starter (with two 4S Lipos) which starts it fine but anything less, forget it! I hand start many of my engines but would not want to start the big Saitos by hand, they have a real kick - you're braver than I am! Mine starts fine but I have a silencer with pressure nipple which helps and may explain why yours was reluctant to start. However, these are wonderful engines, mine is in a Black Horse Models Hawker Typhoon. Grahame

    • @PetrincicBrosRC
      @PetrincicBrosRC  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Grahame. Like you said Saito engines are just perfect. And really hard to start with hands. Iam always scared when we start them like this. We will have to buy stronger starter for large engines. Do you have video of yours Hawker? It must be great to see it and hear it at low flybys... Love the ideal sound on this engine! I went to an estate sale last week and got myself a brand new saito 150 and a used OS FS 52 fitted in a biplane, and a bunch of other stuff, for $200, the saito for sure is brand new! No box though, i will sell it on ebay to recover all the cost. The OS 52 I will keep. 4 strokes are the best, love the sound, beautiful japanese engines, they made them to perfection!

    Very good to know my friend. I share your love for nitro engines also and soon i will be getting my social security and have been looking heavily on eba and intend to bid on as many as i can and repair and sell and keep the ones i like to use on planes. Often there are lots of engines that go for under 100.00s. That is one reason i have such an interest in your test stand. I like it better than any i have seen so far. That is why i ask for the information on it and would be willing to pay for such information. It has a very good design. I am a good fabricator so acquiring the materials and building it with something to go by without an engine in it would be great. Your mechanical intelligence and fabrication experience is very evident. Im so glade to see Robert allowing you to speak more about the engines and what you have done. Please keep sharing and giving the information on the parts you used and what you had to do. Videos are getting not only more entertaining but also more informative and interesting. Thankyou to the both of you. By the way y'all need to get an exhaust system and don't edit. Thats what makes y'all the best. Hope y'all are okay.

  • @Eccentric5B

    Nice engine. I think your initial fuel draw issues stemmed from having the fuel tank too low in relation to the carb. Usually having the centerline of the tank at or slightly above the carb centerline helps with fuel draw. You filled the tank about half way........and it looked to me like the top of the fuel level was still below the carb centerline. Sorry if somebody already stated this. I didn't read through all of the commets. Entertaining as always guys. Please be careful with your hands around those big props.

    • @PetrincicBrosRC
      @PetrincicBrosRC  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey T. This baby needs exhaust to pump some pressure to the fuel tank but we dont have it. So we did the best we could to at least hear it. Oh yeah... And it was fun. The ending is the best ever ;) Cheers, Robert

  • @HondAttila
    @HondAttila 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey guys the ending was funny a.f. :) I hope you are both alright! I have a Saito 91 where I needed to google "too much compression". If you open the carb to let air in, you simply can not turn the engine over if there is no prop attached. With prop its ok but I needed a spinner to get it to run with a starter. Oh and by the way, a 4S lipo does the trick for all 12V starters. But not too long!

    • @PetrincicBrosRC
      @PetrincicBrosRC  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Well done Robert and blaz. The fuel line connected to the nipple seemed to be leaking a lot of fuel. Was it loose or split. That may explain why the engine wasn't able to suck fuel. It sounded great once it started oh yeah. Your videos are always enjoyable to watch. Take care.

    I like that Seppuku 180 ! If the prop don't getcha the fumes will. The RC pilot cocktail,...4 oz. of castor oil and a dash of nitromethane. That'll set ya free, or at least parts of you. 😂🤣😂👍👍

    And mine has been sitting with Lucas Oil in the crankcase and in the cylinder on sale in the boers and on the upper upper top end so I seriously doubt there's any damage done to any any of the inside of the engine including the bearings on the crankshaft pulley crankshaft for sale are the cylinder walls
