One of the announced villains is the High Evolutionary. He's famous for taking animals and "evoloving" them up to humanoids. At one point in the comics, he even made a second earth, populated all with humanoid animals, but built like Earth, so maybe they're using some version of that story in the movie. It would explain some of Rocket's backstory and make an interesting antagonist. Same way that Warlock may be an antagonist that turns things around. Definitely fun for them to add on after the heat of last week's Holiday Special!

I knew Groot, Rocket, and Starlord. I knew Groot as a bad guy, Rocket as a little thieving asshole, and Starlord as an idiot that liked 80s music. That is how tiny they were, even to a fan of comics. So my memory gets some of the details wrong. I remember the otter GF, vaguely her name, and vaguely her name, but not the planet name.
A lot of the conversation right now is around Rocket and Gamora, which I totally get. I am sure the Lylla stuff is gonna gut me. But I just want to take an aside and note that there's a short clip in here of Nebula legitimately smiling and cheering, and I gotta say I really hope she gets a happy ending. Would be nice to see somebody that lived a life of abuse and violence not have to sacrifice themselves and get to be a full person again. Crossing my fingers for that.
Spacehog! Love it... One of my favorite scenes in Endgame was still Rocket and Nebula holding hands briefly when she came back with Tony Stark. Of all the things one wouldn't've expected during Iron Man 1 was a scene where a talking racoon and a blue cyborg could create an emotional impact.
With the knowledge that this is going to be the most serious Guardians film, with the added knowledge of previous members riding out into the sunset, I'm simultaneously building anticipation and prepping for devastation.

The High Evolutionary modified him along with several others in his genetic experimentations - and it's probably alluded to that the result of those experiments is the town that they first land in at the beginning of the trailer with those creatures with animal faces/heads but humanoid bodies.
This movie is definitely going to be another super, cool, awesome banger from James Gunn because the GOTG Holiday Special was so amazing and he is with DC going to make that company even better than it was before by making and teasing us with way new upcoming DC projects, Fantastic reaction to this teaser Angela.

Characters are people too and aren't just about usefulness, which is a wield trope for audiences to take themselves out of a story and be meta. Who decides for us as people our usefulness in life?

Mantis is Pete's HALF-sister. We learned this in Guardians 2 when she revealed that Ego was her father as well (through a similar process as how he had impregnated Peter's mother). Peter has probably hundreds if not thousands of half-siblings all over the Galaxy (if not more), thanks to what Ego did, or was trying to do. They had that creepy sort of diorama-esque montage to illustrate it. The Christmas special wasn't the first time we were learning this.
A big indicator of each Guardians movie is the color of the font. Guardians 1: goldfish brown = Groot Guardians 2: Blue = Yondu Guardians 3: Black and brown = Rocket. Plus check out the movie poster and how everyone is positioned

Its about a guy (Rainn Wilson who plays Dwight in the office) becoming a vigilante. Its dark and violent but has heart and humor as well. It was my first introduction to James Gunn about 10yrs ago and Ive enjoyed the ride since!!!! Highly recommend!!!
Guardians membership changes a lot over the years in the comics. Will be interesting if they do any of that. Also Mantis has a role in a very specific story line with the "Swordsman" in the comics that has huge consequences. Interesting because the Swordsman appears in Hawkeye. I keep hoping that they'll do Silver Surfer film or series.

I feel confident that Rocket dies in this last film. First, James Gunn LOVES to kill characters and make us sad. Second, the rumor of a crew death has been around a while and no one involved in production has tried to shoot it down or even address it. Third, I watched an interview with Gunn on "Entertainment Tonight"'s channel when he mentioned both that Rocket was an integral part of the last film and that people were going to be heartbroken (he said those things a few minutes apart in the interview). Fourth, Rocket himself even said he didn't have "all that long a lifespan." I think it's going down. Sadly.
I'm calling it now: this is going to be a figurative bloodbath. Rocket, Drax, Nebula & Mantis ALL die. We're going to be left with just Peter, Gamora, Groot, Cosmo & Kraglin.
Seems like the soundtrack may be heading a little 90's since I'm pretty sure that was "In The Meantime" by Spacehog (1996) playing there (or perhaps a cover, it sounded different). In any case, I have little doubt that this movie will be hilarious, heart-breaking, action-packed, and have an absolutely brilliant soundtrack. I'm afraid that the signs from this trailer that Rocket will die in the movie because we are getting to know his origin which will help to give more weight to his death. I didn't see Rocket getting off the spaceship with the others when they greet the animal people. Groot is displaying shooting a gun in the style of Rocket which could be him giving tribute to his old friend Rocket.
Rockets backstory is pretty dark and they already alluded to what he went through in the first movie, the drunk gambling scene where they argue on Knowhere he screams at quill about being torn apart and rebuilt over and over again
Chris Pratt has said that he wants to stay as long as Marvel will still let him make movies. Let's see if he's a man of his word. After that, I'm not sure. I'd really love Pom to stay. Her 'feisty' Mantis is adorable.

I think Peter, gamora, and mantis are safe but rocket has said at least once that he doesn't have that long of a life span and given that we're getting a lot of his back story in this one and the dialog we've heard I think we're going to lose rocket and Dave said he isn't coming back as drax so I think we're losing him too which is sad but beautiful as he's going back to his family. I think Peter's crying is over rockets body and mantis's is over draxs. James said this will be the saddest mcu film so far, I'm really nervous and I'm bringing boxes on boxes of tissues with me
I liked the teaser trailer. I didn't love it but I liked it. I'm going to watch the film regardless but the trailer didn't "wow" me. Hopefully the official trailer will reveal more information that will intrigue me to a greater degree. I know there will be some deaths in this film but given Marvel/Disney's history of subverting expectations (Tony Stark dying when most expected Steve Roger's demise in Endgame), I will say that the only sure thing I know is that the Guardians of the Galaxy roster will be different at the end of the film.

I have to confess, the Guardians are my least favorite MCU franchise. I’ve never cared for Peter Quill at all. But Rocket … now poor little Rocket was my emotional doorway into the Guardians. There was so much pain implied in his backstory, and as an animal lover, it broke my heart imagining the horrible things that must have been done to him to make him what he is. And now, it looks like his backstory will be a focus of Volume 3. If any Guardians movie makes me cry, it might be this one. Keep your hands off that adorable, defenseless little baby raccoon, you monsters!
Not the wods biggest Gunn fan as I feel he's pretty overrated (loved volume 1but haven't liked anything before or since 🤷🏾♂️) Anyways the planet they visit with all the furries is called Half-World.. it's a test habitat created by the "high evolutionary" a mad scientist specialising in creating &experimenting on anthropomorphic humanoids.. he basically made a planet full of looney toons Apparently there's a few deaths in this one.. Saldanas hinted at wanting to move on &Vol 3 is ripe for a "the power of letting go" story beat (quill letting gamorra go.. seeing as this gamorra isn't HIS gamorra) idk if feige would allow Gunn to kill her off tbough Nebula taking her role in the team would be a unique direction Drax is done for good so his sacrifice exit is probly still in play (or maybe they rewrote it since Asgardians of The Galaxy is no longer certain) Starlords safe cause as Pratt has said time &again the only way he quite is if they fire him &he was rumoured to be really interested in the Asgardians of The Galaxy spinoff (before feige shelved the idea &hemmy threw taika under the bus 💀)
Spoilers back in endgame the Gomorrah from 2014 traveled with Thanos and nebula from 2014 to try and destroy the avengers to try and stop them from snapping and then Gamora became like an antihero. I guess she went against her thanos and left to someplace at the end of endgame
I hope they don't because it's kinda messed up that the original gamora dies and he finds another version of gamora as a replacement it feels wrong to me Man I hope Peter matures and decides to move on and let this new gamora make her own choices

I'm afraid that the signs from this trailer that Rocket will die in the movie because we are getting to know his origin which will help to give more weight to his death. I didn't see Rocket getting off the spaceship with the others when they greet the animal people. Groot is displaying shooting a gun in the style of Rocket which could be him giving tribute to his old friend Rocket.

Rockets backstory is pretty dark and they already alluded to what he went through in the first movie, the drunk gambling scene where they argue on Knowhere he screams at quill about being torn apart and rebuilt over and over again
Chris Pratt has said that he wants to stay as long as Marvel will still let him make movies. Let's see if he's a man of his word. After that, I'm not sure. I'd really love Pom to stay. Her 'feisty' Mantis is adorable.

That’s 100% gonna happen, we are definitely gonna lose at minimum 1 of the guardians, knowing this is the last Gunn movie and the end of this guardians lineup their is no doubt in my mind that this will be insanely emotional. I’m predicting it’ll be the most emotional movie in the MCU

I think Peter, gamora, and mantis are safe but rocket has said at least once that he doesn't have that long of a life span and given that we're getting a lot of his back story in this one and the dialog we've heard I think we're going to lose rocket and Dave said he isn't coming back as drax so I think we're losing him too which is sad but beautiful as he's going back to his family. I think Peter's crying is over rockets body and mantis's is over draxs. James said this will be the saddest mcu film so far, I'm really nervous and I'm bringing boxes on boxes of tissues with me

I liked the teaser trailer. I didn't love it but I liked it. I'm going to watch the film regardless but the trailer didn't "wow" me. Hopefully the official trailer will reveal more information that will intrigue me to a greater degree.
I know there will be some deaths in this film but given Marvel/Disney's history of subverting expectations (Tony Stark dying when most expected Steve Roger's demise in Endgame), I will say that the only sure thing I know is that the Guardians of the Galaxy roster will be different at the end of the film.
I feel with sadness we are going to lose Rocket, I just hope Pete and Gomora get their happy ending.

I have to confess, the Guardians are my least favorite MCU franchise. I’ve never cared for Peter Quill at all.
But Rocket … now poor little Rocket was my emotional doorway into the Guardians. There was so much pain implied in his backstory, and as an animal lover, it broke my heart imagining the horrible things that must have been done to him to make him what he is.
And now, it looks like his backstory will be a focus of Volume 3. If any Guardians movie makes me cry, it might be this one.

Spoilers back in endgame the Gomorrah from 2014 traveled with Thanos and nebula from 2014 to try and destroy the avengers to try and stop them from snapping and then Gamora became like an antihero. I guess she went against her thanos and left to someplace at the end of endgame

I hope they don't because it's kinda messed up that the original gamora dies and he finds another version of gamora as a replacement it feels wrong to me Man I hope Peter matures and decides to move on and let this new gamora make her own choices
