V.BIRCHWOOD aka Vasi wears historical clothing every day. The 26-year-old TH-camr hand stitches her clothes, drawing inspiration for the designs from her antique clothing collection. Vasi decided to start wearing historical fashion as it combined her love of art, culture and history with her desire to know where her clothing came from. She said: “I decided that I would like to participate in the slowest fashion possible. Literally with a needle and thread - it doesn’t get much slower than that.” Today Vasi is bringing her look into the 21st Century as she is transformed into a Dua Lipa-inspired look. How will she feel about an outfit that follows the trends? How will her friend react to seeing her in modern clothing for the first time?!

*HISTORICAL CLOTHING IS WAY MORE COMFORTABLE THAN MODERN CLOTHING*
I know everyone has this idea that it's stuffy and restrictive and hot and uncomfortable and it's just NOT, it's tailored to fit your body and it is vastly more comfortable than modern clothing. I wear men's historical suits every day, I got into it because I thought it would be fun to make one and was astonished how comfortable it was, I couldn't go back to wearing modern clothes

I wasn't a fan of what was chosen for her new look, none of the colours matched, ok I get it was very free and random but it had a Bitsa edge. The bag or the eye shadow should have matched with the top or trousers just to signal their was someone at home, that you'd thought about it.😂😂
@@davidboydarnott417 I find that a lot of people who dress very modern, similar to what is shown in the video care not for things matching at all. On the contrary, they tend to pair things that clash. Tis the fashion of the day I suppose.

This was the first one of these videos I didn't skip a second of. I love that they didn't put a bad wig on her. I'd love to see her try alternative fashions even though I know she'll probably only really enjoy it as long as they're made with natural fibers.

Oh Vasi you look adorable but I agree with Sam, I definitely would not have recognised you if I walked past you in the street! It felt so odd to hear your voice coming out of a ‘stranger’ lol. I actually love the contrast of modern make up worn with vintage/antique clothing, maybe it’s something you could try? This was such a fun, interesting experiment, would love to see you do more! X
When you’re that pretty, young, and thin, you look good in anything. So I knew she’d look fantastic, which she did. What I didn’t know was how she’d feel about it. The last line is what made my heart sing. Paraphrasing, that if she dressed modern she’d have to put up with less crap, but she is going to stay true to herself and dress historical. I love that so much, I don’t have the words to express how much I love someone who stays true to themselves. Beautiful, inside and out. Bravo.

All that being said, I am so glad that you wear what you love and feel most comfortable and confident in.
I get very sad when I hear that you ( or anyone) is being mistreated for the clothing that you wear. In my heart and mind, when someone is showing a style that I am not familiar with, or maybe isn't the norm it is a opportunity to learn something interesting about someone. Or at the very least , a chance to tell someone " your style is very interesting, beautiful, or if the person is open to a question, it's a chance to learn something. I will always hope that people can be better than choosing to be unkind.

Thats it! Be yourself and dont try to be accepted by the society! You are an artist who designs and sews old clothes! If I would have this talent, I would design my own clothes, too. I cant find enough modest clothes, how ever, the offer is bigger today than it was before. I like the long or 3/4 sleeves clothes which covers the knee and dont show too much skin.

I have no idea who Dua Lipa is, but I've never been one of the cool kids, so whatever.
Anyway, I think the transformed outfits looks really cool on you. It could easily have been ridiculous, but the stylist did a great job. Your body language tells us that you are not used to wearing this and maybe feel a little uncomfortable, but you could totally rock this outfit on the street if you wanted to.
I would never wear something like this myself, but I like to see different styles on people even if they are not what I personally prefer.
And I can completely understand you wanting to go back to your own style even if you liked this little adventure.

Big fan of her traditional/historical wardrobe and her interests in clothing and living. She obviously looks good in either attire, but man, as a guy, I'd love to just go off grid with a gal like her 😅. Some livestock, woodcarving, gardening, hunting, etc.

Liked her more in her historical clothes. She became more like everyone else in modern clothes. I myself want late 19th century clothes when women were women and men were men. The men's clothes were more elegant then too.
