See heres my biggest problem as a potential nintendo collector if they did take that approach with these games with there artificial scarcity they make with cartridges is the fact they killed there market for games with day one patches unless they address this 3ds and wii u should be enough that all forms of nintendo fans can agree from a collectors standpoint to a gamer standpoint they fail on all fronts so who is nintendo marketed too apple fans who might actually buy all those games each console generation and lose it the next is that what nintendo is trying to sell us a scarcity game maker i wont support that

The people out there that are using Iwata's death as a weapon against Nintendo in a disgusting and disturbing way that disturbed a bunch of innocent people online. Using both Iwata's death and Reggie isn't going to make a difference. Nintendo had issues of their own back then when both of them were still around. Also the whole using Iwata's death situation needs to stop.

It's because, at least in their case, most times it's actually more a matter of people being complainers that are never satifsfied, rather than the company doing something genuinely shady and bad...
The day in which Nintendo will fall into releasing broken games, that may or may not get patched later on, and an ocean of pre order dlc stuff, and microtransations everywhere, will be the day where even Nintendo's golden image compared to many others will crumble.

well its not like a petition nor poll of seriously changing the management of nintendo will change them and its not like nintendo will sell their game rights to other companies when fans shout out in media that just cause they like their games doesn't mean we like them...so i guess those games will stay with nintendo till foreseeable future.

You missed arguably the worst thing Nintendo has done in recent years. The lack of legacy content and ways to enjoy it on their latest platform. Removing the Virtual Console was unbelievable, it was far superior to the laughable Online Service they have today. We already went through the drip feed, and we had to go through it all over again. Additionally Virtual Console would have been perfect with the Switch's handheld side, why have the device check online if you can play a game on a freaking handheld, where on Virtual Console you buy it and you can just play it!
Then there's the lack of past platforms playable on the Switch. Why can't I play Gamecube or Wii games? Where are all the handheld games? Why won't Nintendo let us play their classic games on current hardware? It makes no sense and preserving their rich history should be something they value as the fans certainly do and its easy money for Nintendo. This isn't rocket science, yet despite all the fans begging to bring this to their modern hardware they would rather you be content with the crappy services they do provide and forget their great history... for some reason.

If Nintendo is so hellbent on stopping emulated versions of their games being created or pirated, like Scott said, “offer your damn games on your system!” Quick rereleasing the same game over and over again, and give more attention to games you hardly give attention to. It’s full of stubborn, out of touch old men who don’t even know what the gaming industry looks like outside their Kyoto offices. In most instances with Nintendos games timing is not there strong point. They tend to release games that don’t fit the what their consumer base is demanding for at the time. Wind Waker on Gamecube is a great example. Fans wanted an art style similar to ocarina of time and instead got a toon style. Wind Waker is a wonderful game it just didn’t come out at the right time.

    • @doom3926

This happened with quite a few of their games yeah.
A lot of people either weren’t around or don’t remember when Majora’s Mask was universally hated because it wasn’t what people wanted after OOT.
Similarly, Luigi’s Mansion was universally hated when it came out because people wanted the next big Mario game to be a Gamecube launch title but instead we got Luigi’s Mansion. Now the game was popular enough that it got a whole trilogy and a remake.

Yup, Nintendo and Disney have something in common. They used to be the most creative and influential companies of all time. But now, they have become empty shells of their former selves with their bogus copyright claims and preferring quantity over quality. In fact, Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack is exactly like the notorious Disney+ with its outrageous prices, censorship, and questionable qualities. At least Disney didn't lose Pixar to rival companies like Universal or Sony, like Nintendo did to Rare at the hands of Microsoft.

    • @CaseyNoK

Disney may not have lost Pixar to other companies but Pixar is slowly starting to lose their animators due to Disney's recent push in their woke agendas and the fact that Disney is releasing Pixar's recent movies for Disney Plus only and not for theaters. The debacle with Nintendo screwing up with rare isn’t the only major business disaster because they also caused the rise of Sony as a console producer if I recall correctly over their obsession not using discs.

I don’t know if it’s Nintendo fans specifically or fandom in general, but it seems like fans feel entitled to get exactly what they want and are critical when they don’t get it. Wind Waker is the perfect example. If fans got exactly what they had wanted we probably would have received a good Zelda entry, but would have missed out on a masterpiece. Getting exactly what you want hampers innovation and leads to repetitive IPs like CoD or Madden.

Ultimate could have used less Fire Emblem characters. I don't know anything about F.E or know anything about the characters (I probably don't have a right to complain) but the spots that were available could have been saved for other characters. Waluigi is one of them. I know Ed Boon said he would have liked to have Raiden or Liu Kang added to the roster if they asked him, but because of censorship, they passed that up.

You know what's funny? Is that people been babbling about game preservation and that they started resorting to piracy because Nintendo wouldn't do anything with their huge back catalogue but then you start noticing a bit of double standards because when Nintendo digs deep into their back catalogue and digs up lesser known titles, people will bitch and moan about it and say they'll start using emulators because Nintendo doesn't give them what they want. Turns out game preservation is only valid for the big titles everybody wants to play... So, let me tell you, game preservation is just as important for big games like Mario and Metroid as it is for shitty titles like Dr. jakyll and Mr. Hyde.
Show me your ROM folders and tell me what games other than A Link To the Past and and Super Metroid are in it. If Nintendo didn't push tor these smaller titles some people would never touch them even through piracy

Bayonetta, Lucina, Joker and Pyra/Mythra in Smash instead of Dixie Kong, more WarioWare; less Wario Land, borrowing Bayonetta from Sega so she can get in Smash, not enough DK Country games from Retro Studios, Corrin, Awakening’s story, Lucina, Fates’s story, Byleth, female blades’ designs in Xenoblade 2, Xenobade X’s story and characters, Skyward Sword’s story, and annoying business practices.
