That place is packed with antiques and amazing architectural stuff that needs salvaged! The fireplace surround in that parlor is absolutely amazing!

      @greyeaglem 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Both the ground floor fireplace surrounds would fetch a good price. Someone should salvage what they can before it collapses. I realize it belongs to someone, but it will be useless to anyone when the place falls down.

Older people die or go into homes & there are no easily contactable relatives. Really people should register their relatives contact details with local authorities. Maybe there is a business in this for someone. To hold contact details & contact relatives etc in the event of the owner no longer being resident.

This house looks like the Addams Family home on the outside but not on the inside.
That house looks so ready to fall in. I give you guy’s credit for having the courage
to go in there and walk around. I think it an American Gothic. Must have been
beautiful in its day after they turned it into a home to live in from a funeral home.
Kind of creepy knowing it was a funeral home. As always, Big Banks your videos

I've seen a few of your abandoned properties but this one is the best yet. Only because all their belongs are still there. If only a small team of people could carefully take things out a bit at a time, clean everything up and give them to a charity. I'm sure there's at least one family member who would appreciate these family photos etc. Loved it!

The first thing I noticed was the contrast between the “new” homes right next to it. I’m surprised the neighbors aren’t screaming to get it torn down. It reminds me off the Adams family home. That first room you were in had such a beautiful mantle. So much to see. I wonder how long it has been abandon. Even though I was disappointed you didn’t attempt to go up to the tower, I understand completely. Stay safe out there

I originally went to school to try to restore these things. I love doing it, but sadly sometimes they are too far gone and the cost to restore is far much greater than rebuilding. The good thing is there are ways it can be done in stages, sometimes even livable stages, and the first thing to do is to redo the roof. Without a good roof, you can kiss the rest of the building goodbye. I've seen buildings that NOBODY would touch and were ready to get the recking ball, brought completely back to their former glory. Most abandoned places can be completely restored. It just takes time and money...

The style is Victorian Gothic Revival. Windows have the pointed Gothic arch, the peaked roofs have narrowed angles. All design elements tend to create a taller, leaner, upward-pointing appearance to the building, as did medieval Gothic cathedral architecture. This style, reviving design elements of the medieval Gothic period,, is the earliest form of Victorian house design.

Based on picture frame with multiple generations around the picture of the house, I would bet it was never sold out of the family. Most of the furniture is from the same period as the house and with not very many newer items other than appliances. I would say several generations of the same family lived there using the furniture from the generations before.

As far as the funeral home goes...the embalming room and body storage would have been kept in the basement. The outer basement door would have been used to transport the bodies in. Considering that none of the upper floors were caving in except the porch you probably could have gotten a look in. There was always a staircase down from the interior of the house as well. Even if the basement was unused, unless they removed the body drawers everything would have still been visible to some degree. Oh...in the kitchen, that huge washing sink was original to the house. Considering it's size they may have done some body prep in that room as well.

Get your earbuds/headphones on, volume on the loudest ..
You’re gonna hear some ghosts today!
    3:25 a male says “yeah”
3:28 he continues with “keep it comin” which is interesting because usually they’re shouting “get out”
It says “in here” when he arrives at those two chairs in front room, near the window. I didn’t time stamp it because it’s spoken just like his breathing sounds and you wouldn’t hear it anyway. I’ve been listening to/speaking to/seeing ghosts my whole life..
    Anyway..
5:19 “hurray!” ..this is the first time I’ve heard spirits happy about someone rooting through their house. I’ve never heard them be this excited and inviting
Honestly, this is adorable, 5:49 it says “hey..see cat?….cute” as he pans the camera to it.
6:29 spirit laughs after he makes the joke about the clock on the wall not being a Rolex but it’ll do
It’s so refreshing hearing a nice spirit in these videos for once. All those ridiculously expensive mega mansions have really nasty entities in them.

3:01 - The NEC FE1250+ monitor was introduced in 2001, so I'm guessing this one was abandoned some time in the early-mid 2000s.

After reading several replies to many of the comments it’s quite evident the owner is not too happy this house was “explored” or really trespassed. Many assumptions were made that this house was abandoned for being haunted and all that but apparently that’s not the truth. Also to suggest that people loot this house goes to show just how greedy Americans really can be, bc not only did many of you assume the family was dead y’all also suggested that these men STEAL from the DEAD that’s insane! 🤦🏾‍♀️ I’m glad things were clarified and I’m sure this family has an intriguing story to share that doesn’t surround just their home and materialistic property.

Before it's completely gone someone should reclaim as many of the doors, knobs, hardware, stair case ect. All of the trim is worth hundreds of dollars per foot. Fireplace front and mantels are worth thousands and the old light fixtures has beauty, style and adds class to any style home. The house is beyond repair but the details can still delight for hundreds more years and the history preserved!!

This really burns me up. I lived in a small town in a neighborhood with beautiful old grand homes with nobody to claim ownership alive. Why not have an annual auction set up by local municipal whoever. Get people to restore, and, live in these homes?
It's a waste of good material/craftsmanship in the best case.
But no just watch it decay, and, homelessness grow.
An incentive like that can be life changing for people who have had it hard.

To answer your question: Family members are alive & well as is the owner. The house is being renovated. As happens with many small towns there were not enough jobs available for the next generation to pursue the "American Dream" so they moved to larger towns.

@@genethompson6248 I’m assuming you are a family member judging by the news article on the wall praising a Thompson for their promotion and the name plaque on the wall! Not to pry but I would love to know more about the family’s story, if willing.

Most people don't appreciate the beauty of a well crafted home like this, this home was built with higher quality materials then are used today. We live in a throw away society with a low attention span for any thing not shiny and new. As these structures fade away , we loose our history with them. There are homes that are saved by city's as historical buildings and along of those don't even compare to this house. What a shame.

I was expecting the inside to be a lot worse than it actually was, considering the way the outside is.
Definitely a high risk location, the neighbourhood looked relatively nice.

I would have latched on to that pink cat. Nope, wouldn't have felt bad about it either. It's gonna be destroyed when the house falls in anyway. And, that Amberina glass bottle on that one mantle. That's Blenko glass. Great souvenirs with an awesome history and story.
