Partial to the first large light fixture because of Buckminster Fuller. Have you ever been inside one of the buildings he designed? Also, did you figure out what Queenie was saying? Was it indeed the lamp that got her talking?
You found SO many cool items at bargain prices: the metal light fixture, boat bookends, dining table, tea kettle, table lamps and of course the Escher print ❤.... Oof, love it all. I have many candle sconces (wood, metal, mirrored, etc.) but can't decide where to put them 😄
That $1.00 pillow? C’mon! Also, so glad you got the big dining table. I let a beautiful carved table go years ago, and I still wish I’d figured out a way to make it mine.
Because of your videos I have been going to Goodwill on Tuesdays (I'm over 55) to buy frames primarily. I have a large number of pictures I have wanted to frame and the options at Goodwill are amazingly high quality and amazingly inexpensive. In the process I have picked up items that just needed to be hung: a huge photo of the Ponte Vecchio in Florence, still life painting from the 60's in original frame, and a framed print of a bullfighter from the '60's too-- something that not that long ago I would have hated, and now, I cherish, saving it for another generation, I hope.
I spayed my garden man with buttermilk and 1/2 water with a piece of moss add brushed the slurry on and placed it near a sunny window, its mossily lovely!
Those little French prints are images by the artist Erté, one of my personal favorites. He did fashion illustration, sculpture and design in the 1920's in Paris. Nice Singer! if you turn it over you should be able to find its serial number on the base plate and look it up on the index. My vintage Singer is a 100 years old this February and still going strong with a new treadle belt. There is a couple little online specialty shops for parts. You might have found a rare tabletop featherweight judging by the case, so definitely look it up.
Enjoyed video. Ageing Pots, terracotta or anything really, I have had success blending plain yogurt and moss whizz it in a blender and paint on mixture , moss will colonized it and ages beautifully.
Ooooooh a black shade on that brass lamp base will look so good, like a bit of an art deco look, will. Look good with the three vintage prints from the flee market. I also love the ship print, can't wait to see the whole look yu are going to put together for your living room.
I am chuffed that you did purchase the dining room table! In the video when you found it, I thought the details on the bases and top were just lovely, and that you could make it the length you'd like! I also adore the atrium lamp - perfect for that spot. Lately, I am into vintage made in England ironstone and pottery. Was fortunate to pick up 4 plates for $3 apiece at a local thrift store. The thrill of the hunt!!
Pretty sure that machine will do a double stitch on leather, most newer machines are finicky. I wouldn't be surprised that one becomes your favorite. It is very simple but a work horse.
You can brush the terra-cotta with garden lime or soak them in salty water to age them….another option is to brush it with yogurt and put it in a plastic bag outdoors in a shady spot for a week or two, then wash and brush it. Sometimes just leaving it outdoors in the elements for a season will do the trick .
The small clear glass container might be perfect for cotton swabs. The large one would work for cotton balls. The small one could hold toothpaste tablets. ❤
I love the sewing machine!! I am a costume designer and i use treadles all the time (I own 3 of them), they will sew through anything. . .very satisfying. Just need to give them some oil and some love and they will do well. Again, thank you for all the great content!
I have been searching for a night stand like that for ages, so hard to find near me. You find such great things. I love the lamps and the slim mirror the most but everything is good.
Those brass lamps are just gorgeous! and the Asian cabinet. Handles and hooks are always useful. The terracotta does look kinda new, the only way to age it I've come across is the yoghurt method, maybe do that and then leave it out side for a while.
Awesome finds! Goodwill's around me are filled with over priced trash. Really sad. We do have a couple of Restores but none close enough to hit up on a routine basis. I love the table, the sewing machine, the rug/pillow, the knobs, oh just about all of it! The ship bookends, fantastic! I am so jealous 😮!
My partner tells me that the wall bowl was used for holy water. You'd have it on the wall and source the water from the church and fill the bowl and bless yourself with the holy water as you left the house.
I have that same M.C. Escher print (along with a few others). I paid more than $6.00 for it, lol. I appreciate your eye for style. I love every item you picked up! The metal pendant lamp will definitely look better with a larger bulb. And what a bargain on that $50 table! Glad you grabbed it and can modify it to fit the space. Lots of great deals. Win wins all around, although Queenie seems to disapprove of that lamp 🤣 I do like your idea of using magnetized wood strips on a string to hang art on. I'm using that more often because I love the added decorative element to a wall (and break up the monotony of square frames) plus eliminates the hassle of matting and/or getting glass cut to size.
I understand cutting the table down to fit the space. I think it would be a good idea, though, if you kept the mechanism underneath and the pieces so that you have the option of a larger table for special occasions when you have several people over for dinner or a large spread laid out for a party. It’s nice to have the flexibility of a bigger table when you need it. I look forward to seeing how you spruce it up.
Try this on the BACK of your terra cotta piece. Rub some dark dirt on a small spot then wash it off. Some particles will remain and it will look like it was buried and then dug up. No cost! If you like the effect do the whole front.
Oh my love your vibe! Great haul! That sewing machine....swoon! I've noticed I've been drawn lately to vintage glass/silver serving dishware. My usual hunts are for vintage uranium glass and Native American jewelry.
3 things : the geometric chandelier is awesome. Before you even mentioned it, I thought it screamed for a larger bulb, and then voila, you showed us you thought the same thing. I think you could even go larger than the one you found. I do think the bulb itself should sit it the center of the outer sphere tho, so maybe shorten the tube it hangs from. The dining table is superb. Could you possibly use the amount you trim off to make into benches for seating ? Or shelves. I have a few of those old sewing machine parts folding boxes, they are so cool. And yes, shipping fees suck, but forget about it, the lion head was totally worth it.
Andrew had a feeling you would get that dining table, you do have a great eye for thrifting, and show that it's about picking pieces that you can see the potential for elevating them through transformation or refinishing.I love that you found the Esher print of the drawing hands. (Matt) P.s look forward to seeing what you do with the dining table
I loved the Kilim pillow. So beautiful! My newest "hunt" is for a quirky mix of nostalgic + paranormal. My guest bathroom is filled with oddities like the Loch Ness monster, a kraken, an old painting with a UFO in the background, etc. Currently looking for a LARGE octopus (or its legs at least) to put on the tall cabinet in the bathroom. Can't really see the top, but it would be fun to have those legs coming over the side. I found something on Etsy, but whoo boy, not for $800!
Fun video! Any art in the kitchen will become yellowed & grease covered unless you take strong measures to prevent it. This happened to me with a framed silkscreened print.
I live for Queenie moments! so hilarious!!! and you got some amazing deals, your Restore and Goodwills have much better deals than I've seen lately. My faves have to be the globe lamp on marble base and the $2 copper kettle. Wow.
Although I have had a home for many years, I have never been to a goodwill or general thrift store, but in looking at what you bought, I am more prone to the natural wood pieces. Also, I love the terracotta mask. I LOVE the map, and have been on the lookout for one, but they are hard to find. The ship would be a favorite of my brother, who actually builds ships in bottles as a hobby. Love the Asian style lamp, and table, although that is not my vibe, but it can change. The sewing machine hit home. When I was growing up, my mother had a singer sewing machine similar to that one, in black. It made me think of her and the many hours that she used it. Keep it please.
What a bonanza! When shopping/thrifting one's mind is always fixed on the potential be it altered or not. Favored pieces: ginger jay lamp, the side Asian table, the 3 Italian prints do sing. Even though you'll cut down the table, the legs alone would be incredible pieces as pedestals or simply pieces of display art. If you ever decide to share households, oh the decisions you will have to make.
Just soaking your terracotta piece in water and letting it dry out in the sun can help age it. For moss, yogurt can be used to encourage growth, or even a little miss from your backyard.
In the 1970's I took wood shop in high school. We all had to make some version of a wood shelf with mirror in the book. Your wood mirror with shelf definitely reminds me of that.
Plain live yoghurt definitely works for ageing terracotta. Leave it outdoors long enough and you'll get a nice greenish lichen hue. 🦁 The yoghurt also works well for any nice stone garden statues - eg goddess-type figuers - that just look too 'new'.
Final comment! The architectural wall art at 10: 05 is gorgeous, and I think would look lovely mounted inside a plain wooden frame. You can get sticky pads that project the print out a little from the mount, which really elevates it. A lot of artists frame their originals this way. It works particualrly well with torn-edged 300gsm paper, so you could freshly tear the edge of your piece, or just stick with the existing rough edge.
I live in Portland Oregon in a small college town about 35 minutes from downtown pdx. I have a shop space here and I love thrifting. Our goodwills here have gotten a bit pricey. I find the most amazing stuff though. I like your style !
You made me want to see if my grandma still has her antique miniature ships that I always saw growing up. I doubt they are worth anything but it would be cool to have on a shelf.
Great video! For the terracotta piece, I would probably cover it with soil and water it as I would be watering a plant, the colour should start changing soon Just an idea
I love collecting little art pieces. I’ve found quite a few watercolors, pen and ink, some little prints to go in my growing gallery wall. I’m drawn to trees and nature scenes. My favorite is a pen and ink tree, later I found a quarter sawn oak frame and I had some glass that fit. All told less than 10$. I think the shape of the drum shade would be good for that brass lamp. Maybe spray paint it black?
Hi Andrew, you found some great things! Love the lamps, and of course the pillow! I have to get back out there and look for some "stuff". Queenie is so cute! Thanks for sharing!❤
While I have never tried yogurt, I have used buttermilk to brush onto a porous cast stone surface. Put it outside for a while in a shady damp area...that should do the trick. You sure hit all the eclectic buttons in this vlog! Cheers Andrew (and Queenie)
re aging terracotta: I've used the lime (garden lime, not like the fruit) with really good success. It's a bit more instantaneous than the yoghurt method.
Lots of great stuff! That table is absolutely gorgeous! I can't wait to see how you make it fit in your space. My favorite items that I'm obsessed with at the moment is vintage pottery vases and pots. I also love vintage brass figurines, currently, I have 2 beautiful brass swans and a squirrel, but am always on the lookout for other brass animals to add to the collection.
Hi! My favorite item was the geometric pendant. I'm not big into geometric designs, but I adore lighting and I kind of have a thing for metal. I imagine when the light is turned on, there will be some cool shading on the ceiling and walls. I haven't been thrifting in a while but mostly because I have an accumulation of items I need to work with currently.
Great finds. The word that jumped in my mind was hoarding.... eacks.... The wooden wall bowl could also be transformed in a wall lamp. The shade on the Chinese lamp looks a bit too small. When i saw the intro with you wearing the leather pants i thought you´re going to do heavy work as a blacksmith. lol. But it looks great om you.
Cool stuff! Not sure, but it sounded like you were thinking of making tea in the copper kettle. It’s just for boiling water (which you then use to steep tea in a teapot).
I think Queenie is getting bad vibes from the lamp. I wouldn't keep it! Dogs have a 6th sense IMO. Also, I've been loving MCM floral, stoneware plates lately. I'm in the process of making a plate wall with mixed patterns.
score some shipboard novels to keep your bookends company: Billy Budd, Moby Dick, Horatio Hornblower, Treasure Island, etc., etc. - bet you can find 'em all thrifting
Just water the terracotta and let deposits start building on it. Set it in a tote of water and let it wick up the water. The mineral deposits can be seen immediately.
I would not saw up that beautiful diningtable.. COULD you make it fit, wihout altering it?? Just because that must have come from a really grand house, and these big tables are really few and far between! I might actually have that valued somewhere! If it wont work in your space right now, I would honestly set it aside and save it for your next home. Lets say next, you buy a big victorian house, with a big diningroom- then where will you find another?
The sewing machine could be put into a box -your parents could make one-that just fits the base. You then can put it anywhere- shelf, table etc. There are channels dedicated to showing you how to restore the mechanism of the machine. I have a collection of vintage machines and they are workhorses. You can even buy a 'potted motor' if you want to make it electric powerred.
Absolutely loved all of your finds Andrew! I may be a little biased since you And I seam to have similar taste in decor. You could practically have shopped my house for some of these items! ( For aged terracotta, the yogurt method is to grow moss, for the dirty white mineral deposits that come from buildup from plant fertilizer, maybe soak the lion in muddy baking soda water and dry upright to drain naturally in the sun to replicate the effect?? Thanks for the show and tell 😻
So clearly TH-cam has my Al Gore Rhythm down to a science? Andrew casually mentions Rachel Maksy… I follow maybe 15 channels on TH-cam. What are the odds that I follow both of them? Andrew, Rachel, we’re you GISHers?
hey, as a former tailor I unfortunately have to disappoint you with the machine. This type is not suitable for thicker leather. You're right that you can use more force to pierce thicker material with the needle, but the problem is the bottom feed. These don't grip and transport as well, especially if the material is thicker and stronger. These machines also have a problem forming a thread loop with thick leather or thicker Material in General. For leather you need a machine with an undertransport and a transporting feet. But for Other fabrics no Problem.
Hello, Andrew 😊 That is not a tea pot, it is a tea kettle for boiling water. Then you would make tea by adding the water from the kettle to a tea pot. 🫖
What's your favorite find from my haul? And what decor items have you obsessed with lately?!
Partial to the first large light fixture because of Buckminster Fuller. Have you ever been inside one of the buildings he designed? Also, did you figure out what Queenie was saying? Was it indeed the lamp that got her talking?

The wooden mounted shelves were great too!
Oooh, I make stain glass. Would be cool to fill in at least a few of the triangles in the light fixture with glass.
Because of your videos I have been going to Goodwill on Tuesdays (I'm over 55) to buy frames primarily. YES!!!! so glad you got that table, I wish I lived close enough to help your Dad rebuild it into something usable for your space.
Enjoyed video.

I was laughing at Queenie growling at your lamp. My Ella used to do that whenever I brought in something new.
The lamp may have been previously owned by a cat 😅 and Queenie smelt it !
My fav was that cushion for a buck!!
I could sit and watch you all day! You collect and use so many incredible items. I love it
You could swap that brown shade and put it on the painted navy blue lamp bass and put the white /cream shade on the wood lamp bass
I am chuffed that you did purchase the dining room table! Would. Rather shop these stores than anywhere else! Great finds!❤

I really enjoy watching your videos. The little brown jar was free with coffee mate years ago.
Great pieces & good prices. Like your style. ❤
Love your videos and your eye for thrifted items!
That was a great haul! I loved it all and it's so You!!!
What a bonanza! When shopping/thrifting one's mind is always fixed on the potential be it altered or not. Favored pieces: ginger jay lamp, the side Asian table, the 3 Italian prints do sing. That table is amazing!!
Such lovely items and it’s good you have the imagination to make them your own!! I always look for cloche or bell jars but never have any luck! 😂
So many cool pieces
Just soaking your terracotta piece in water and letting it dry out in the sun can help age it. For moss, yogurt can be used to encourage growth, or even a little miss from your backyard.
I like the Asian style lamp and night stand best.
Love the Erte prints!!!
In the 1970's I took wood shop in high school. We all had to make some version of a wood shelf with mirror in the book. Your wood mirror with shelf definitely reminds me of that.
Andrew, yo have such a good eye and have picked up a lot of amazing pieces. Can’t wait to see how you use them.
Plain live yoghurt definitely works for ageing terracotta. Leave it outdoors long enough and you'll get a nice greenish lichen hue. 🦁
The yoghurt also works well for any nice stone garden statues - eg goddess-type figuers - that just look too 'new'.
Also, loving the wall art at 9:27 - the kind of moody midnight blue hillside.
Love those prints from Italy!
The ships bookends are also such a vibe! ❤
QUEENIE!!! ❤❤❤❤
I live in Portland Oregon in a small college town about 35 minutes from downtown pdx. I have a shop space here and I love thrifting. Our goodwills here have gotten a bit pricey. I find the most amazing stuff though. I like your style !
You've scored some fantastic items! I'm really excited to see how you make them your own and bring them into your space.
I agree completely
Wow! I studied every detail. Thank you for sharing. New subscriber
You made me want to see if my grandma still has her antique miniature ships that I always saw growing up. I doubt they are worth anything but it would be cool to have on a shelf.
Great video! For the terracotta piece, I would probably cover it with soil and water it as I would be watering a plant, the colour should start changing soon
Just an idea
Great finds will look awesome in your house. Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin owns a lot of the original M.C. Escher artwork.
What a great haul! Looking forward to see them in your room reveals..👍
I absolutely love the Italian prints. That was a score!

So many beautiful treasures!
Cool stuff! Not sure, but it sounded like you were thinking of making tea in the copper kettle. It’s just for boiling water (which you then use to steep tea in a teapot).
Liked the pillow😮
Great stuff!
Love, love, love!
👏👏👏
You're gonna have to do something quick about that lamp...Lol. Miss Queenie isn't feeling it!
Hahaha you brought home a haunted lamp 😂
That black glass from the map frame @10:59 might be nice layered over a mirror and then framed…
I love that idea!
❤❤❤
Hej :)
You could use moss spurs on your terracotta.
Oh no Queenie is seeing something you can't be careful with what you bring home
I used a wash of garden lime mixed with water to “age” a terra cotta cherub. My husband promptly broke it into 3 pieces. 😢
I would not saw up that beautiful diningtable.. COULD you make it fit, wihout altering it?? A thrift haul...let me get a 🍷 and a snack 🥨
It’s terracotta. Leave it outside on the ground . Sun and rain will do their thing

Very nice video as usual but if a may tell you, you look great with a little bit of beard ! Completely different look !!
So clearly TH-cam has my Al Gore Rhythm down to a science? Andrew casually mentions Rachel Maksy… I follow maybe 15 channels on TH-cam. What are the odds that I follow both of them? Andrew, Rachel, we’re you GISHers?
🫸🔆🫷✨👍❤️🔥
What? you have a life off camera?!
Haha I know! Hard to believe right?! 😂
hey, as a former tailor I unfortunately have to disappoint you with the machine.
