Evening folks! Thank you so much for watching....and please do give this a go! I've now tried the original banana pudding from Magnolia Bakery and can confirm, this recipe is IDENTICAL to the original recipe :)
This recipe is excellent with fruit other than banana. Strawberries, blueberries, peaches, cherries....
Looks delicious! How do I get the actual recipe from you?😊
That is the prettiest banana pudding I have seen!! Banana pudding is such a traditional comfort food here in the States. Enjoy NYC!
I could eat that entire bowl. Omg. I love banana pudding.
Hey from North Carolina, our Banana Pudding is a 9 x 13, lined in Nilla wafers, topped with banana, vanilla pudding next, last is a meringue top, put in oven until the meringue starting to brown a little, put in refrigerator for couple of hours some wafers are softened, some not, every now and again we get fancy and add a little crushed pineapple. Hope you enjoy NY.
Can’t wait to try this recipe, thanks for sharing Cheryl!!❤
I'm gonna try it with angel delight
I think that would work.
YAY! I love banana pudding. Welcome to America! I hope you're having a good time so far.
Having a great time Lisa! Fab place
@@WhatsForTea Oh good, I'm glad NYC is treating you well.
My aunt was famous for her banana pudding. she didn't have so many steps and it never lasted much past her getting it in her giant bowl. So maybe an hour or so and it was all eaten. The cookie was still crispy. I now have a strong urge to eat some.
I don't know that I've ever had it. I just figure it must be like cream pie, and...meh. Banana is OK, but I don't crave it
Those Nilla wafers make an excellent bottom/crust for mini cheesecake cupcakes.
Really good with pepperidge farms chessman cookies too!
American southerner here, and you’re pretty dang close. We use Cool Whip, a processed whipped cream, to temper the consistency of the pudding, and maybe a pinch of salt depending on the type of biscuit or cookie that you use. In a perfect world there is a bit of crunchy texture left, mostly on the broken surface cookies.
We use the Jello vanilla pudding mix that is cooked. Same process of layering, just using hot or warm pudding. I love it better than the cold method, but I won't turn away either version. Yours looks yummy. Safe travels!
Ohhh. Welcome to the USA, Cheryl. I’m out here in Colorado ... way west of NYC, but happy you’re here in the states. Hope you have a wonderful time. If you want to see something remarkable, check out the ‘HIgh-Line’ Garden that’s south of Chelsea in Manhattan. It’s a nice way to get outside in New York and a powerful example of ‘repurposing something old to something new. But no mater... have a lovely time in NYC.
I have been dying to see that. I have a good friend in the Bronx, but it's been a few years since I made the trip, and that is something that in the past, would have been hard to drag her into the city to see. When she first moved there, she was in Brooklyn, and a visit was so much more interesting. Then she changed careers and moved to the bronx, and they are so far out that taking the train in isn't as easy as it used to be
@@LindaC616. I had a patient that was from Brooklyn that was involved with the project from the start. Even tho I’m here in Colorado, I began donating to help create it. When they brought Piet Oudolf into the project to do the native and natural plant and landscape design, I joined in whole-heartedly. It is an amazing and inspiring reclaiming miracle.
@KMcKee-qn6bo I hope to see it. I think there's some sort of walk in the Bronx near the zoo too, we just have to find time to get to it. When I was on an academic schedule, she was not, now she's on an academic schedule and I'm not.😄
Welcome ro the states! Its been a while since Ive seen NYC. My 20s to be honest. Pre 9/11. I live in California (los angeles) since 1998. I grew up in Michigan. New York is a bit intense for me. But love its history.
Real banana pudding is a southern staple and is just banana slices mixed into vanilla pudding served in a bowl lined with Nilla Wafers and topped off with more wafers. No whipped cream needed. It’s perfect without a lot of extra stuff.
There is more than one way to make banana pudding and they are all real. This one using an ingredient you don't use doesn't make it any less banana pudding. Real.
July 20th on Orkney Island. Tomorrow will be at Ullapool. Maybe I'll see you! ❤ USA
Cheryl, I hope you have an amazing time! I recommend that skywalk as someone else has, I've been dying to do it.
Try some puerto rican or cuban food!
Have a nice trip to NY! How wunderful!!
I can't believe that this is viral. This is a dessert that has been on potluck tables in the US for 70+ years. Everyone has made it at least once in their lives, it seems. I can't imagine a church picnic, a family reunion or a funeral dinner without it. How funny!
Make custard, I am sure that would work just as well as Jello. Saving buying it. I love this. Bananas are one of my fav's.
That's how I make mine.
That looks really yummy 😋
Think that would be lovely with tinned peaches
Cheers for the vid the closest to vanilla pudding is cornflour icing sugar and vanilla powder/extract the dr oteker do a vanilla pudding you can get in some supermarkets here keep up yer guid work thanks.
Down South Banana Pudding is a staple. Magnolia just brought it to NY. It is hard to get wrong and ever so good.
NYC! I'm from NY and used to work in the city. That banana pudding looks so yummy and I love bananas. I pray your trip is safe and a lot of fun.
WELCOME to the 🇺🇸‼️ I hope you are have a marvelous time and are willing to try some of the incredibly delicious foods the States has to offer. Thanks for the Magnolia Banana Pudding recipe, it reminds me so much of the one my mom used to make for my dad’s birthday, his request in lieu of a cake every year. Stay safe……remember we aren’t all “half baked” here , we just want to be noticed! 😹😹😹. Cheers, 💕
We love NYC been 3 times…and this pudding hubby is happy….again.🏴👍🏴
Looks delicious ❤
In the UK I used Farley's Rusks and it worked well. Try to get Jell-O as Angel Delight will not be as good. It is delicious, albeit very rich
Now I want Farleys rusks! I crave them now and again! Because I know I cant get them lol
Love banana pudding have a great hoiday❤
I make my own pudding and wafers. Yours looks delicious. I look forward to trying your version soon. I hope you are having a great time in the big city. I've never been there. Way too crowded for me. Love ya.
💙💙💙💙
Great basic recipe !
If you can get Chessman biscuits there do try Paula Deen's "Not Yo Mama's Banana Pudding"
Also easy and best I've ever made.
Have a safe trip !
Or even shortcake biscuits that came in the tin at Christmas
@@sandracarrillo8061 That's not the recipe.
Delicious.🤤👍
You certainly have me wanting to try it. I've always done it my mother's way with two of the non-instant jello vanilla pudding mix cooked on the stovetop, then poured over the layers of nilla wafers and banana, topped with crumpled wafers. it's ok but i'm sure this is better.
Thank you l will be making that it looks delicious ❤
Thank you this is very wonderful I will
make it serenely.
I think Ginger biscuits and caramel condensmilk will also be very nice. ❤
Wow! yum, thank you. 😋 Safe travels.
I hope her partner gets a ring out in NYC ‘cos he’s been getting all the benefits of sharing a house with this lovely woman/cook without any commitment whatsoever, as far as I can see.
C'mon not everyone has to be married. Unmarried couples are statistically happier 🤷♀️
Next time yr in NYC try Rice to Riches on spring street. Best rice pudding desserts!
I hope you have a great time here in the states!
Big plate please hen x
Heya!
Are you enjoying summer?
I'll give you my share here. Banana's ok, but not a craving for me
Hey! 😃👉🍽
I think instead of Jell-O one could also use Bird's Eye custard powder or the Polish/German vanilla pudding mix that comes in a sachet (very easy to find in the UK in Polish shops), since Jell-O is just sugar, and cornstarch with flavourings. Looks delicious, btw!
Yes, that’s what I use - I get my family to bring it from Germany when they come for a holiday. The brand is Oetker.
Thank You.
It’s just Birds, not Birds Eye.
Thank you and Safe travels ❤❤❤😊😊😊
Omg that looks so delicious ❤
I make my banana pudding with Jello Banana cream pudding. It is delicious!!
Thank you, that looks delicious 🤤😋 I've never heard of it, but I'll be giving it a go 👍
Have a gid yin, in the big 🍎🥰
I am trying to lower my carbs but I think I will use all my daily carbs on this yum!
This looks beautiful ❤❤. Hope you and mr whats for tea had a wonderful time in NY. Jealous much 😂 xxx
hmmm, looks tastey, could maybe add a spritz of rum to the biscuits...
You need to sprinkle your banana slices with lemon juice before putting them in your bowl - stops them turning black.
Luckily, you've just missed all of the nastily hot weather here in NYC. Some rain in the forecast but it should be relatively pleasant for the next few days.
The bananas flavor the whole thing over time in the fridge. That's why you have to store it overnight.
You could make it with premade custard and add sour cream instead of double cream. Or make a creme anglaise. I certainly wouldnt have paid that much for the nilla wafers. Fill your suitcase with them on the way home, sell them to the locals. It could pay for your trip lol
Hi. I have looked on Amazon for the Jello-0 Not sure if I’m looking at the correct product but the price looks to be approx £7 plus delivery for 1 packet which is very expensive for making 1 pudding.
Thank you..
Ann.
Hey Cheryl! Welcome to the states! There is a fish and chip shop in New York City that goes by the name of A Salt and Battery. It's been there for years and i was wondering if they really taste like a true fish and chips. It's one of the places i would like to try some time💜
Oh please don’t,not good at all.
Would banana angel delight work?
I imagine so Sandra! You'd need quite a few packets though :) x
It should
Sounds like vanilla blancmange.
Have a smashburger at Shake Shack 🍔
Why did you use sweetened condensed milk? That pudding is so sweet already! Just normal milk.
I prefer homemade vanilla pudding. It takes minutes to make and tastes far superior, plus it soaks up the banana flavor as it sets up. That's how I grew up eating it. Also, I never let it set overnight with the nilla wafers, but I don't like soggy cookies/biscuits.
52 bucks really dont think so
The best banana pudding is Paula Deens not your mamas banana pudding
This is one on my list I want to try
NY is another place on my list too
Have a look at Devour Power on here- a ny couple that goes around by reviewing amazing food spots- absolutely incredible. Have an awesome time xx
Their reactions make you want to reach into the screen and snatch what they are eating. They are real foodies!
@@sandracarrillo8061 I been following them a long time almost from the start and I can’t get over how many good spots they are still finding ☺️
By the way, I'm from NC. Mom adds the merengue but I can't stand the stuff. I like mine plain so I don't add whipped cream either...gross.
Appreciate you giving other options for biscuits! Those prices are ridiculous
They are 😑
Unfortunately, I can no longer get Nilla wafers in Canada, so I had to order from Amazon, for an exorbitant price, but they really are necessary for this version of banana pudding. I picked up a couple of boxes the last time that I was in the States. This recipe is absolutely delicious and so easy. Everyone that I have served it to, loves it.
Jell-O - it’s what we call jelly - what the Yanks call jelly, we Limeys call jam!
That’s not really true, jelly is a clear sweet substance in jars, mainly grape,or mint jelly.Jam is jam, same as in the UK.JellO is a brand name that’s why they have a gelatin ( UK jelly) an instant pudding mix,and a cooked pudding mix all under the JellO brand,so people just started calling the gelatin jello, same as Band-Aid for adhesive pad, brand names.
