Great insights and a fantastic message that can be acted upon by anyone that wishes to change their pattern and consider what rule they may want to challenge within their life. Thanks. Bob

Thanks, Lisa! Several years in COGIC. So you were spot on.
Also, are you the same Lisa McLendon who sang my favorite version of "Breathe"????

Great TEDx Talk. Wish the closed captioning would be closer to his actual words. I would love to use this in my class, but I have a student with hearing challenges and needs the CC.

Terrific and insightful talk, particularly the point about breaking patterns. I hear this is being shared in various venues, yes?

"I am an extrovert." Is not that stereotyping?

Stereotyping is not making a rule from a pattern, but a recognition of a pattern and people are pretty good at it. Most stereotypes are accurate.

Aren't these rap songs? I feel like I've heard them before specially the first one. Can someone please tell me if he's the writer or are these are real songs? I feel like I'm listening to Eminem lol

Stereotypes are an efficient mechanism designed through biological evolution. The brain needs to keep you alive, and thus survival is the precipitator of this mechanism. In simple form, natural selection retained those who were able to stereotype their environment over those who weren't. Animals use this same mechanism. Stereotyping is not a human contrivance. I did not see the science in this lecture.

Lol this is hilarious, stereotypes are not a pattern of behaviour formed out of ignorance. Stereotypes are formed because enough people of a certain race, creed or culture behave in a certain way so consistently that it becomes a general opinion. When are people going to stop pointing the finger of blame on those who believe these stereotypes, and instead accept responsibility for creating them in first place
