The more rural you are, the more unique (shadier) they get, too. I've been in bars where the owner will open the machine to get change for their customers. Pretty sure they bought the slots on auction.

Definitely play them alot in our area (especially since the Amusement companies by me are extremely fair----they gotta make their money but you have a true chance to win). Have hit 1100/1300/2700 on 3 separate occasions and been paid in full every time (obviously in those quantities you have to come back at a different time since the bars are usually fronted through the amusement company as to not have that much cash available on the premise). If you ever see a bartender going to grab cash from them it either means A) Shady B) Don't play because the machines have been puking cash recently. Definitely a red flag once you see the cash being grabbed from the machine, unless its for a huge payout to another patron that just recently happened (IE hitting 1000 on a pull tab)
